Garage Misadventures is about being as self reliant as possible. In our everything-is-disposable world, we like to fix things and keep using them. This channel is a little bit automotive, a little bit woodworking, with some DIY and home improvement thrown in. Particularly we will be working on our Air-Cooled Volkswagens, restoring our 1976 13 ft Scamp Camper, and doing some tool restoration! We will do our best to give a fair, real life assessment of the projects we do, how difficult they were, and what it really took to get it done, so hopefully you can use that information to tackle your own project!

Grandstand 3D Archery Target Stand: A Universal 3D Target Stand?
Taking a look at the Grandstand Universal 3D Archery Target Stand.
Advertised as a "Universal" Target stand, but with a range of 18.5-29 inches. What targets is it really good for? Can you modify it to use with smaller targets like the Rinehart 1/3 scale mini elk?
In this video I modify the stand to work with smaller targets, and explain the "Twistlock" feature and how it works, and how I was able to keep it while cutting the stand smaller.
I apologize for the wind noise today, I was trying to use a different camera without my usual microphone.

Aftermath of an Engine Fire - 1971 VW Bus
Просмотров 2 тыс.3 года назад
Recently I bought this 1971 Volkswagen Bus, that unfortunately has suffered a devastating engine fire. In this walk around I show you the kind of damage that can happen to these classics. The future of this particular VW Bus is still undetermined, as I originally bought it with ideas of rebuilding it. However I need a steering box for our 1968 Bus, and I found someone else who needs a roof sect...
How To Remove Scamp Camper Fiberglass Cabinets
Просмотров 5 тыс.3 года назад
In the last week I've gotten two e-mails with questions on how to remove some of the fiberglass cabinets in the Scamp. I made this video to show how I removed the cabinets answering their specific questions, as well as some general information to help anyone else considering removing their cabinets in their Scamp or other similar fiberglass camper (such as the Boler, etc). I've also seen quite ...
Reviving a Stanley no 75 Bullnose Rabbet Plane - Woodworking Tool Restoration
Просмотров 4 тыс.3 года назад
Doug Revives a Stanley No. 75 Bullnose Rabbet (Or Rebate) Hand Plane to add to his woodworking tool collection. This Plane came from a box of miscellaneous junk tools, and now it is useable again. I removed the old rusty stuff on the plane, re-did the japanning, flattened the very damaged sole, and cleaned and sharpened the iron. Hopefully I will get some good use out of this tool now that it h...

can a different router make be used
Yes the plate has various holes for common routers you might want to use with it.
You need to completely let the piece and oven cool completely between cook cycles. Then cook again, starting in a cold oven, to the next temp.
We had one of these when I was a kid in WV. My step-grandfather gave it to us. It was navy blue. We peddled it all over the place, even to the grocery store a few times. Great fun, fond memories!
Please note, it will be soft straight from the oven, it is japanning not painting, it hardens as it cools, 150°C (300° prehistoric) should really give a great finish, but let it cool before going higher. This guy unfortunately just doesn't have the required patience.
Good job. Thanks.
Thank you.
by the way, pretty woman, no tattoos that make it more beautiful don’t get no stupid, tattoos woman😊
Thank you I have one the same model
Hey! My mom just bought the same scamp 76, i was wondering where are you resourcing your appliances? The scamp website doesn't show the same nos parts? Thank you love it!!!!
Un accesorio absolutamente impráctico
I remember seeing the post on-line for the new PPV in a box.. if this was it , I believe itwas located out in Idaho .. thats awesome
Great review of this tool. I have the battery powered Makita, but will probably invest in the corded model too. I too thought that the Festool were the most expensive and top of the line, but I was wrong. There is a company called Mafell that makes a track saw that is crazy expensive. If Festool is the Rolls Royce of track saws then Mafell is the Lamborghini. I've only seen it on one RUclips and that was a comparison review by the Concord Carpenter. Keep up the good work.
I want one.
Wow! I saw one in :" Popular Mechanics" and became obsessed. This brings back wonderful memories ( smile)
I would like to find one of these . Does anyone else make one ?
Not that I’m aware of. Have to find one on EBay or Craigslist or a garage sale
Hello. Very excellent presentation. Have you ever put your cut against a straight edge to see if there is any day light between your cut and the straight edge ? I appreciate your input. Thanks
I guess I haven’t put a true straightedge against it, however you can mate two cut pieces without any visible gap. The straightness is very very good.
What blades do you recommend?
I haven’t done much extensive blade testing, I just use the Starrett blades, which are the cheaper line that Woodcraft and I’ve been pleased with my results.
Brings back memories. I got a brand new one for Christmas as a kid. Best Christmas ever!
You the man
I commend you on adhering to true japaning process but I have found that self etching primer and implement enamel is tougher and looks better on my own planes when the japaning is destroyed. My No. 75 only needed a good cleaning and iron hone. Not perfect but nice enough as is. Fun little tool!
I was given a very similar jump pack. It was brand new like ten years ago and sat in a closet for almost that long. It doesn't hold a charge and I definitely ned to do this same thing.. I hope your Christmas was great!!
Now show it in sand
Love mine! It is a 73 model. Slowly restoring it. Looks great, but needs a little more work. Mine is powered by a 500 watt electric trailer (RideKick) . Can go 20 mph, over 20 miles on 2 batteries. Didn’t change the original. Just added a hitch that I made. Unhook and hook up in literally 10 seconds. Control the speed with a thumb throttle.
weedeater gang
A great result👍 The “plane collector” may explain why some may hate it: never flatten the sole with the upper body attached. It wont take a shaving if you do. I put two hands on top to take a shaving along a board’s edge, it works well enough, but the no.90 is my preferred tool for cleaning up a rebate/rabbet. This will be fine to knock the aris off a sharp edge.
Pilots can weigh no more than 200 pounds, being no taller than 6'6" in order to fit inside the cockpit. According to Opener, the BlackFly will have a range of 30 miles on a full charge, as well as a service ceiling of 1,200 feet, and a top speed of 62 mph.
It looks so dumb

This fixed my issue, thanks. Quite a bit of water in that induction motor transfer pipe. Just popped the little drain pipe off with a plastic bag under it to catch the water and got maybe 3 cups of water to pour out, didn't even have to pull the motor. I also took a bamboo kebab skewer and ran it through the drain hose to clear any blockages in that, but didn't really feel any resistance or see any muck on the skewer when I pulled it out. I suppose this might be a build up of water from over the summer as I've only had the furnace on for a week, but I would think it would have errored out before tonight. Or maybe it did and I didn't notice.
I have the same York unit and this video helped me resolve my issue. Saved me a service call for a technician. Providing simple steps and things to check to resolve common furnace issues are helpful. Pros are obviously going to point out why they should be called and all the things you didn't do by the book. But if a DIY homeowner can fix an issue or two on their own with a video, it's a big help for them, plus a time and money-saver. Thank you!
I definitely want one but may have to wait for sale
I've seen the linseed treatment numerous times but the linseed beeswax mix is new to me. Gonna add that to my info arsenal. Good on you for saving her. She was worth it. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Hey, I have the Trend version of this and don't get any time in the workshop since I got it so it's really cool to see this being used have you got anywhere I can look at your work you've used this for??
Just found this in the rafters of my fathers old shop. I was hoping the mechanism moved the router holder so I could modify it for a panning camera slider.
Thank you!! I have a 1977 and will likely need to remove the lower cabinet to replace rotted wood from under the bottom bunk. I'd love to be able to do it without taking out the kitchen cabinets 😅😅 wish me luck
We had our first big snow and cold snap here at our new house in Colorado last night. We woke up to the heater cycling on and off and not heating properly with the three red lights on the circuit board through the window. This video just helped me diagnose the problem. For us, a drain tube on the exhaust vent pipe was NOT installed properly by the installer. There are typically two ports on the vent pipe coupler an upper and lower. The installer put the drain on the top of the vent pipe and the cap was on the lower outlet. When I took the cap off the lower outlet, came pouring out, obviously condensate not draining properly. I swapped the actual drain tube to the lower outlet on the vent pipe, and it fixed the problem. Wouldn't have figured it out without this video. Thank you, keep up the good work.
I got a non working powerstation psx which is similar to yours at a resale shop for five bucks thinking I could replace the battery like you. Mine has the same battery as yours and is pretty much dead at 4 volts. It turns out that the replacement battery is $40 on Amazon so I'm wondering how well something like this works jumping a 4.2L V8 in the cold of winter? I guess the tire pump and 12v socket is kind of handy. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your experience in this. I agree with you in trying to reproduce things as they were. I have enjoyed your video. And will use your findings in my work. Thank you again for sharing what you learned.
Thanks Tim
Waouh tout en douceur 👍 génial
How do you attach the work to the handcrank? I've got one but i think a part is missing
Hey, I will go take a picture for you and post in a little while. I have a broken one I bought at a yard sale that has some good parts. Let me see if it’s got that piece. If it does if you are in the us or Canada I can send it to you.
@@GarageMisadventures very kind of you. I'm located in Scandinavia though! A picture would be great though!
Looks great, thanks. And thanks for making it thin enough to brush on. Singer sewing machine co dipped them three times, first night baked at 350 then polished, , ,dipped again, and baked overnignt again at 150, and again day 3 baked again at 150. The machines were polished after dipping all three times. after the third dip a sticky collagen gel was put on, then the gold leaf. It was rinsed, dried, and coated with Copal varnish. Great video, thanks. Would you consider using raw linseed oil. the raw has more double bonds, and forms a better adhesion to iron (cast iron pans are seasoned better with unsaturated oil than oxidized oil or saturated fats), I think it would adhere better, be harder, and be glossier, I don't really know, I'm ust looking at tyhe chemistry. Thanks again.
You can stabilize it by bolting to a wood frame or plywood.
I like it thanks. How it the forging going?
Thanks for making the video man
What's the weight and height capacity?
Thank you! 🙏
For some reason I found this video to be very honest and filled with loads of information. Thank you for this! I am looking for a similar tap and die set for one of my woodworking projects where I need to create a wooden nut and bolt with around 1 1/2" - 1 1/4" diameter. I find similar looking products at various places including on amazon and by Taytools too and prices seem to vary significantly too! Could you please suggest which exact tap and die set did you use (assuming available in USA) and if you had any experience on the tap and die set sold by Taytools? Thanks
India mein available hai
Nice idea. Has no one said that a hex bolt is six-sided? Just a little thing if you want to look authentic.

just had this problem with my CTS. It happened before than was good for awhile then now it just shuts down after a few seconds. I am almost tempted to go back to my dewalt but will see what customer support says. The sawstop has only made about 20 cuts.... my dewalt cannot be killed.
