I'm coming into this late (just switched from a K1600 GTL to a DCT Tour), but there are lots of weather extremes here in Utah and Wyoming where I live and I have suffered both hypothermia and heat exhaustion in the past because of crappy gear choices. My current gear is LD Comfort base layer, a down hoodie for cold days, and Klim A1 airbag vest, all under a Joe Rocket Atomic Ion jacket. On extra cold days, I'll add a Hotwired heated liner under the hoodie. Between 75-90 degrees, its the LD Comfort and airbag vest under a Klim mesh jacket. Summer gloves are Klim and winter gloves are heated Hotwire. Pants are DYNS kevlar and armored riding jeans, and boots happen to be the same Tourmaster boots you are wearing. Helmet is a Shoei Neotec 2 modular. The Joe Rocket is pretty water resistant, especially after spraying some 3M water repellant on it, so I havent yet needed to put on my Nelson-Rigg outer rain gear, but I carry it in my saddlebag just in case. So far so good on riding in weather extremes. i really enjoy your videos!
Was looking at the windscreen in this video on your GW. It looks wider than stock. What is the product information on it and do you like it better than the stock?
It's funny that you mentioned not really needing heated gear in North Texas. I agree to an extent. I have always struggled with keeping my hands warm at 50 degrees and lower and I tried a multitude of winter gloves. When it gets to 40 degrees, my hands would be so stiff at times I could barely pull my clutch in (I have an old HD so the clutch is tough anyways). I bought some battery operated gloves that work wonders for me. Admittingly, I rarely use anything above the low setting but that extra heat is a life saver. Godspeed
My gear is pretty much leather pants in the cold and heavy jeans in the heat. A heavy leather coat or my Goldwing jacket. When really cold I use my Gerbings heated vest. Gauntlet gloves or fingerless gloves depending on the heat. I have the HJC Modular helmet for the winter or my Bell Mag 9 3/4 helmet in the summer. I wear my 5.11 Tactical boots on most of my rides.
I use the same helmet. HJC has really stepped up their game over the years. They're no longer just an entry level helmet. I will say that I wish the helmet was a touch quieter. But not if it compromised air flow. Most of my riding here in the Southwest is mild to hot and sometimes damn hot.
I appreciated the intro to trip planning using the Zumo XT. I just bought one, but haven't ridden with it yet. Trip planning looks like it may be easier than it has been with my older Zumo. Thanks!
Thank you so much you really deserve to follow up your video are all awesome actually I was plan fro adding few of option but now I change my mind I going to postponed till get them ready , your videos help me so much to save time thank you again
15% off the Bohn armor is awesome! I ride year 'round here in the metro Atl area, but as you might imagine avoid the higher elevations during the winter. At 50° I'll switch out from my Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket to my trusty Tourmaster Transition III. Boots are my Dainese Fulcrum Goretex. For riding pants I wear Scorpion Covert Jeans. Gloves are the Joe Rocket skyline Goldwing, but switch to Alpinestar Valparaiso for winter. Raingear is Olympia and no need for heated gear. While I know you're not such a big fan of bluetooth, as me, I'm considering giving up on my Sena 20S SM10 for J&M's corded Elite 801 for rider & passenger. Are there any issues or concerns with sound quality and/or overall reliability before making the switch? Thanks Cruiseman
Daytona boots, Shoei helmet, Motoport pants, Joe Rocket jacket, Held gloves. I’ve been reading about the air bag vests. Hit Air for example. I think Klim just introduced one.
I just ordered a Bohn Armor cool mesh shirt with your discount code. Sounds like a great product, big discount and comes with a free skull cap. Thank you.
@@cruisemansgarage Love your channel, and I"m not even a GW owner. You seem very logical, and well think out all your stuff. So on that front, how did you land on a modular helmet? I've never had one, but I'm seriously considering getting one. That said, I am a bit concerned that they are less safe overall when compared to a "normal" helmet. Just curious how you decided on getting one, or how you would "defend" your purchase of one. Thanks
Thank you for the informative video! Just ordered some armored riding pants for my wife. Perfect! She hasn't found any good mesh or textile riding pants she likes and would only wear her jeans. OUCH! Fortunately, we've never had the occasion to go down the road on our butts or other body parts instead of our GL1800, but I was always concerned IF that happened her legs would be hamburger! As soon as I showed her the Bohn armored riding pants, she said, "Order them!". So I did. I'm good like that. Thank you again.

Thanks, I just ordered one. I found the stock screen on my 2019 does not shed water like the Tulsa I had on my 2010.

F4 Customs +4. I LOVE it, and I have a video on it.

Good information. thanks
It’s interesting that the draggin jeans don’t come in waist size 42. They go from 40 waist in one size up to size 44 in the big men’s jeans.
I did not realize that
I’m in Florida. At 57* I’m saying.."oh crap, do I need to ride...it’s fuc.... cold! 🥶
James B. Haha. The struggle is real. SWFL here. In all seriousness i struggle to find protective gear that is waterproof and cool enough. Lol
Are the armoured leggings comfortable when walking?
Yes
@@cruisemansgarage Thanks for that, never found riding trousers knee armour good for riding and walking.
Do you wear ear plugs?
I do not. Probably should.
For real cold weather 32* and lower I where full leather .
