I just bought one for $200 and gonna do carburetor kit, oil change gear oil ,and watching your videos had teach me a lot about my honda b100 motor .thank you much and continue the outstanding work
Pretty sure when checking oil you do not screw in cap/stick to get accurate reading. Read Manuel last night. Just aquired an old 100. Runs like a top. Thanks for videos
Thanks for the video. Looks like you check the level with dip stick screwed in. I have the same motor but 7.5 and pic near the fill up cup confused me. How to check level with dip stick crewed or not
I haven't had to do that yet, so unfortunately I don't know how to at this point. If I ever do, I will certainly make a video on my experience...but I know that doesn't help you right now.
I just picked up one of these motors and the owner said it hasn’t been used since 2001. What basic maintenance should I do before I try and fire it up?
First thing I would recommend is pulling the lower unit and changing the impeller...22 years of sitting, that impeller is probably dry rotted and starting it before doing that can quickly ruin an engine that isn't circulating water. That's the big thing. Other than that, check the thermostat (probably rusty, change that out), change oil (lower unit and engine), change out the plugs, check the fuel filter, and I'd also overhaul the carb or put a new one on. I'd bet the gas in the carb has varnished and the float likely will be stuck. That may lead to replacing the rubber fuel lines...that's an easy job tho.
How does 200+200+200+150 make 800? I think you may have incorrectly read the dipstick, the plot is not that complicated; don't screw in the oil cap for an accurate reading.
You are correct about screwing in the dipstick, a couple people have mentioned that in the comments. 200/200/200/150 made 800 because of the dipstick being read after being screwed in. And...not sure what you mean by the plot not being complicated, but I agree with it not being complicated...the description says it is SUPER easy. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

Awesome! Glad to hear the videos on that engine have helped!
A very good video how to change the oil on a Honda b100 outboard. I myself have a Honda b75 outboard
The yard looks nice.
You make it look so easy!
LOL, thanks Carrie!
Looking for the Gear Oil change video for the B100. Great job on the oil change!!
Here you go...

please remember all Hondas are four stroke .
this outboard he is working on is a model- A -no oil filter.
model -d- had oil filters

Thank you! And you are correct. I missed that in the manual. 👍🏻👍🏻
A minor comment the owners manual indicates to check the oil level by not screwing in the filler dip stick
You are absolutely correct Jack. Thanks for mentioning that.
Good video thanks!! Do you have the video of the gear oil change?
Yep! It’s in the playlist for the B100, or search my channel. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the video. Looks like you check the level with dip stick screwed in. I have the same motor but 7.5 and pic near the fill up cup confused me. How to check level with dip stick crewed or not
You are correct, the oil should be checked with the cap unscrewed.
Thanks for the video I have the same outboard. Do you know how to change the pull cord?
I haven't had to do that yet, so unfortunately I don't know how to at this point. If I ever do, I will certainly make a video on my experience...but I know that doesn't help you right now.
I thought you checked the level just sitting the dipstick on top without tightening it same as a Honda mower motor
You are correct Loyd…I learned that after making the video. 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent videos! High quality filming. Thank You :) I have one question. Where are the fuel filter on this engine?
And.. there are no oil filter??
There is no fuel filter on this engine.
@@janarhaug Also, no oil filter...I find that odd too, but there isn't one.
Hi I have a Honda B100-1014046 runs great but my green oil light is out, do you happen know where I can buy one? Thanks
I'm sure it's a standard bulb inside the dome...if the dome comes off. I don't own this engine anymore, so I can't go check on it.

Hi what is the difference between a B100 Honda 10 HP and a BF100. Thanks
No idea...but I bet Google does. ;o) I don't own this engine anymore, but wanted to provide some info while I had it. Thanks!
Is there no oil filter???
Nope, not on that engine.
@@WiscoBoater it has one but its inside the motor has like a filter screen i believe

Hello friend, I am writing to you from Mexico. Are you not interested in selling your B100 engine??
Selling? No, it is not for sale.
Perhaps it would have been a lot easier to pour out 150 ml and pour the remaining 850 ml of oil in the bottle directly into the motor???
If I hadn’t been checking the calibration of the dipstick, that is certainly an easier and quicker way. 👍🏻

@@jims6450 Thanks for posting that Jim! I printed and had that bound as soon as I bought the engine. Great reference!👍🏻👍🏻
@@jims6450 Thank you. Awsome.
LMAO 5:09
HA! Yeah...wasn't even close!! LOL
You made my day sir
It’s a dipstick… not a screwinandcheckstick.
Clever…😉
