I feel nothing but sympathy for Arthur Fleck. In a way, I truly dont think he can be blamed for anything he did. He was at a disadvantage from the start because of his excessive mental illness. The last bit of sanity he had (if he really ever had any) finally broke in less than a week. And he reacted the only way he really could given his mental state.
The perfect amount of free and happy but with an ominous little undertone, like it's all artificial. I love how it blasts it during his comedy routine scene to drown out the harsh audience reaction as Arthur's mind takes him to his happy place. Honestly, I don't have the words to describe how perfectly this fits
I honestly don’t have a favourite between Phoenix’s joker and Heath’s because they were both so amazing and Phenix was so amazing i felt like it was the same joker as Heath’s just at a completely different time. This is such a great joker origin story! I love how the whole movie can be interpreted in so many different ways, everyone way view it differently and as Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix said there is no right or wrong way to interpret it! It’s also so awesome that they actually made Joker an unreliable narrator as that’s how he is in the comics so this could just be one of the hundreds of ways how he viewed his origin story! Such a masterpiece and still one of my favorite movies of all time, if not my favorite! I still can’t believe we finally got a comic book movie this unique and different and dark!
I grew up a minority in the US and when I went back to my origins I was treated as a minority as well since I was an American kid. No place really feels like home to me. The joker is the most character I identify with but the only difference is that I absolutely hate violence and seek to improve society instead of taking it down
