    The mights Susquehanna! I’m a senior in college at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove PA. It’s about a mile walk from campus to the Susquehanna River. The one thing I regret not doing in my 4 years here is not fishing more, especially since I’m an ecology major and want to go into fisheries biology/ecology after college. Lots of people fish for smallmouth around here. Need to bring my rods back up during spring break.

    I’m always amazed that you can feel a fish that small bit your bait! Awesome video again Leo!

      It is the sensitivity of the EPF ultra-light rod. Heh. Man... I can feel the SLIGHEST TAP on the rod, even when it is windy out there.

    Great to see you on the Susky catching micros! I know you usually do solo trips, and so do I, but if you ever want to chase those lifers on a boat in the Susky, Skuke or Potomac let me know. Been watching you forever and you never disappoint!

    I haven't caught a fallfish below that dam since 2014; I used to catch them on Rebel Crawfish!

    It’s hard core just trying not to get shot in Harrisburg, and heaven knows what you’re gonna catch out of the river. Fish, body, some sort of sickness.

    I believe I crossed the Truckee river many times on I-80 heading up towards the Donner Pass into California. Leo, I know you love public transport but having a car or camper could give you even more freedom to hit some of those more remote locations.

    That is how extreme EPF do science! In order to properly identify a fish, we will go as far as killing it to do a formal autopsy to show you guys!

    Good to see you keeping us updated on micro fishing or the more common term bait fishing. So glad to learn from you the real names and rarities. I always called them minnows. Much more interesting to know the species and biological information.

    I misread the title and thought how you could get a good microfishing session in the Susquehanna with the weather this winter. Even from last year I still enjoyed the video! I especially liked that you went through the meristics that you used to id the fish. I haven't yet used a high/low tanago rig yet but do count a lot of dorsal and anal fin rays as well as lateral line scales. So maybe I would consider myself as "Hard Core" but not EPF HC😉 because I would have passed with the high water🙄. Did you ever catch the rosyface shiner? I don't recall when you were in MO whether you caught the carmine shiner which is closely related to the rosyface.

    The fishing here in Florida has been really tough and my friends from around the country are agreeing with me. Our weather has been 86 with a low of 65 one night and the next day we don’t even get to 60 degrees and sub freezing temperatures at night with 15-20 degree windchills. Then the next day it’s in the high 80s again. Mother Nature is confused and that is confusing the fish as well. Best of luck on your future trips my brother.

    Hey Leo just wanted to let you know there is a homeless encampment right behind the dam so that’s a big reason why it’s so dirty and filthy down there

    Fishing on my home river!! The mighty
    Susquehanna!! To be honest you don't know what you're going to catch out of this highly muddy, murky and in many areas highly polluted river!! No lie you actually stand a good chance of catching those three eyed fish from the Simpsons when you wet a line in this river!!

    Hey Leo do you know the exact number of species of fish there are in the world or is it hard to tell because there could be undiscovered ones and many hybrids of fish

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  7 месяцев назад +2

      The estimate is that there are about 32000 different species of fish in our planet thus far. And every month, more species get discovered or split up... so, the number has been increasing at a good pace.

    • @johnaufderheide6117
      @johnaufderheide6117 7 месяцев назад

      I have a love hate relationship with the splitting of species. I hate when I get close to catching all of the recognized species within a genus and they go and split out a couple more species just when I needed two more to complete the genus😢. That happened with the recent split with Lepomis megalotis. Now I have to fish some new waters to get those new species. I do love when I gain a new species for the life list after a split like the recent split for bowfin. I had caught both species before the split😊. Still it's all fun😁
