- Join me and Duster in the hide thinning out a few more corvids.
In this video I explain a bit more into how I do things i.e. Location, Setting the Hide and Decoys etc. and of course, a few hits and misses with the .410 Pump Action Hushpower!
It is purely how I do it and certainly not facts! But hopefully It will give some people who are inexperienced or new to Crow Shooting a bit more of an insight on how to do it.
If you are interested about the kit I use, I have listed a few of my essential items below ⬇️

Hot Barrels,

Just like being there!! Love your humble way of doing things! keep them comming😊
Thanks Martin! Much appreciated. Lots planned for the channel so keep tuned 👍
That last double was a stunner Rob! Just for the record, I have a needy hide hound too. He'd sit on your shoulders like Long John Silver's parrot! Thanks for posting another great video👍👍
Thanks bud! Your very welcome! 😁 I was very happy with a double to end the day. He’s a great dog bless him, a good companion as they all are. Sounds like yours is exactly the same 👍
Great video as always. Love Duster, he looks just like my old cocker i lost a while back.
Thank you bud! 👍 he’s a lovely lad. Sorry for your loss, one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through loosing a dog 🥰
Awesome video mate, subscribed 👍
Great to watch as ever 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks bud!! 😁
Enjoyed your vid, thank you, nothing quite like a day out with the dog. I used the subs in my 500 hush power and had mixed success then changed to Fiocchi 3" no6 and got along a lot better with a little more of a bang !! Still use the subs around live stock and near houses. Best wishes.
Thanks Marcus! Glad you enjoyed, it was a lovey morning out. I haven’t tried the fiocchi but I’ll give them a go at some point but getting really good results with the Eley! The hull were very good too!
Enjoyed that like the last. The price of 410 cartridges made me adjust last year. Pattern out, I wait for them to land. Then use the rimfire as its cheaper. Not getting as many but a happy medium.
Thanks Jon, I’m glad to hear this 👍 they are certainly up on their costs now! I think that’s a great happy medium, that will also get the job done nicely 👌
Another good one mate
Thanks bud! Appreciate that 👍👍
I have the big slow moving Spinole Dog from Italy. It is a big contrast to my previous smaller breed dogs that would dance around all excited.
Awesome! 👍👍🐶
Great shooting fella😉👌
Thanks Nigel! Appreciate that 👍
Nice work on the corvids mate , yeah got to be careful with crows and dogs 💥👍
Thanks mate! Absolutely true! He only picked a few dead ones, was just with me as a companion for the day really 👍👍
you have A very good eye long time since I just watched A Bit of that
my dad did but he used a catapult same one for 40 years for one cut on cut out of
hedge
fed us
Thank you! 👍
In Russia, a 410 caliber cartridge costs40-60 cents. I don't buy them in the store myself, I assemble them, I have a lot of components, and it costs 10-30 cents.
Great shooting with hushpower mate. Still surprises me what a devastating calibre it can be in the hands.
Thanks Tom! Much appreciated 👍 it’s an incredible bit of kit! It has certainly sharpened my skills but bloody annoying when I’m not in the groove 🤣
Good vid
Thank you!👍
0:18 👏
hey chap - love watching your vids. Any advice on where to find permissions. I think corvid and pigeon shooting makes for great challenging sport, but finding places to shoot is hard. I'd even be willing to pay... just not sure where to start / look?
Hi Keith! Glad to hear this bud! Unfortunately it’s a lot of asking, lots of sorry no but the occasional yes which if you do a good job and let the farmers know how you did and respect the ground will lead on to potential other permissions as farmers all know each other 🤣 I hope you get some luck and some ‘yes’. There are a few people who sell days around the county, I’d say the Facebook forums would be the best place to look. Hope this helps bud 👍
Hi mate great video - I know your frustration with the 410 hushy i missed a couple on Sunday and im still trying to figure out how?! Love those silosock decoys look really handy as well as the flapper!
Thanks mate! Really appreciate that 👍 I was trying to figure it out too 🤣 I was more than likely putting the lead on too fast as the gun is so light compared to my 12 gauge! 🤦♂️ they are great bud, a brilliant combo!
@@fieldsportswithspeed forgot to ask which carts are you using? I’m experimenting with eley four long 18/6’s (a couple got stuck) and lyervale 17/5’s which are a bit quieter…
I’ve been using the Eley Magnum 6 18g subs which I’ve found are really good but having the exact same problem with them not ejecting once shot. I find if I wait a couple of seconds after the shot it will pump fine.. 🤷♂️ I think I need to give the chamber a really good clean!
@@fieldsportswithspeed yeh it’s really annoying with the eleys as one completely jammed and had to poke it out with a rifle rod! I got a 410 brass brush stuck it in my drill and gave it a good over and touch wood it seems to have some the trick
What’s the seat you use ?
Thankyou for the videos 💯 what jacket is that please? Sorry if you've already said elsewhere
You are very welcome! 😁 it is the Blaser Tranquility jacket, I absolutely love it and would highly recommend 👌
@@fieldsportswithspeed thank you, I've just ordered one 🙂
👌👌👍👍
👍👍
#Fieldsportswithspeed Great programmes mate, I use a silenced .410 bolt action. mostly for roost shooting near a stables with subsonic no.5's . Watching these vids I'm temped to have a go further out. What cartridges are you using for the crows here?
Thanks bud! Much appreciated 👍 they are a great calibre like you said for sensitive areas! I’m using Eley subs in 6 18gram fibre and will kill comfortably to 30 yards but have found the non subs will kill better a bit further!
@@fieldsportswithspeed Cheers mate, I've got a slab of 19 gram 5's. Will have a play.👌
I also use a bolt action . 410 it's only fully moderated as nothing is silent
👍👍
I've just bought one after watching your vids from Avalon guns in street have you tried the gamebore low noise ammo 👍🇬🇧
Brilliant news bud! You won’t regret it, a really great bit of kit 👌 I haven’t to be honest mate. I should try some when I get chance, let me know how you go with them if you use them. I’d be interested to see what there like 👍👍
@@fieldsportswithspeed will do, keep up the good work nice to see an all round shooter like me self.🇬🇧👍
Good man! Thank you!! 😁
Hi ive just bought a new hushpower when i patterned it i realised why i was missing the birds ìt threw the whole pattern below the aim point i had to fit a stock cover with a foam insert to raise my head it now patterns how it should but feels unnatural due to having my head so high off the stock did you have this issue thanks.
I did have this issue! The hushpowers POI is very low and once I’d put some comb height on it I started shooting it a lot better! 👍
Lucky you with the idleback chair, i left it to late to try and buy one but they stopped trading. Dont suppose anyone out there has one they want to sell ?
I was very lucky to buy this second hand off a friend!! I absolutely love it. I hope you have some luck in finding one 👍
Can you please tell me are you using subsonic carts,or are you able to use standard carts?how much quieter are subs?
Hi Andrew, I’m using the Eley subsonics and they are considerably more quiet than the standard loads! I would say the standard loads kill better at longer ranges though 👍 hope that helps
I do not have first hand experience to judge this, but some hunters say not to use a dog to retrieve crows, as the bird (if wounded) can damage the dogs face and eyes with its strong beak.
That is very true and only let him retrieve the corvids that I couldn’t find further out and I knew were 100% dead. I really only had him out as a companion for the day 👍
Is this gun steel proof?
It is yes
Does hushpower sell in the US?
I’m not sure to be honest
Another cracker there Rob, I get that its a job we do for the farmers, but it has to be said its way more fun with these little Hussheys tho isn't it? I have found that I tend to take a few crackers and then think i'm the "dogs danglys" then miss the silly ones you think are in the bag. Then back to thinking about silly misses. I've been using the Lyavale Magnasonics, but got a few boxes of the Fiocchi mag 6s and there considerable more powerful although a bit noisier, and somewhat more forgiving and a little cheaper. Thanks for taking the time to post these vids pal. Great watch. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Jamie! I really do appreciate the nice comment thanks mate! They are so much fun these like hushpowers but I’ve definitely got to be in the zone to shoot it well haha thanks for watching bud 👍👍
Cheap if you’ve got a perm , a lot haven’t
Very true! Permission is very hard to come by, trust me I’ve spent years and years trying for very little 👍 but sometimes it comes about. Never loose hope
Je veux carabine comme ca ou m atresse en france😊
Hope you’re eating those crows ?
Oh absolutely..
@@fieldsportswithspeed Good man !
