Ashleigh has a style reminiscent of Martina Hingis.' She replaces tactics and variety over power. Heř brain is always on the watch of how she can make it tricky for her opponent to return balls and getting off guard with highly-angular shots making the opponent run awkwardly and thus opening the court. Her Hingisesque magic touch may maintain her top-notch game. 🙂

Barty showing champion mental strength and resolve to come back in the 2nd set. If she improve her 1st serve % and reduce UF errors on forehand, she can get the trophy in straight sets! To be even more dominant, she really needs to work on her backhand (not slice) - pretty hit and miss at the moment for both service returns and as an attacking ground stroke.

@@JadaKingdom971 Yeah I think so too. I think the current generation players focused too much on being too powerful and go for broke 24/7 and ending the point ASAP (Probably the most extreme example are Kvitova). The strategy sounds good on paper, but what it does is it creates lots of unforced errors and I think that is why plenty of women these days are so inconsistent. Its about time someone noticed. I have always said that slice is such an underrated shot, and its a shame how very few women ever used it. Instead they go for broke whenever they r defending. Im happy though to see the likes of Barty, Swiatek using & popularizing it.

Barty does everything well. It's almost creepy. I see why she and Djokovic are no 1. They have become like well-oiled machines that execute everything neatly. Slice, lob, heavy forehand, backhand accuracy, one hand backhand slice, return of serve, and those first serves especially those super wide ones that are difficult to get a hang of. It is really amazing and a little creepy to watch. Plus I didn't even mention the mental toughness needed to play at the grand slams with millions watching their every move and millions riding on their shots. Pro tennis is indeed not for everyone. It fascinates me how these pros go about these things.

Oh well..... Kerber's rather muffled noises still appear to bear some relationship to her physical effort. That's a whole different story from Sabalenka's vulgar screaming at the top of her voice. She makes Sharapova's shrieks sound like birdsong.

Being 4-1 up in the 2nd set & serving for it at 5-3, I thought Kerber would take that! 😱🤯
In the end, I thought, no wonder she had an 18-month title drought. There was just no consistency in her game and too often she played defensive instead of dictating play. She was just returning the ball and let Barty take charge.
