I went from my barefoot desert adventures to snow, ice, and a lot of wind... quite the shift!

We are Linnea and Akela. Through the van build, I used my stubbornness and drive to show individuals that they, too, can convert a campervan by themselves and on a budget, with a lot of learning, rolling up the sleeves, and getting to work.

I love this journey so much! Hang on tight to your Mama Linnea and cherish every second you have with her. I lost my Mom at the age of nineteen and I was so not ready for that.I am now 65 so this video just warmed my heart !The laughter is glorious! I do miss Akela..:(

This! Made me think I should have traveled more with my mom. I'm the last of her 7 kids and did only one trip with her alone when I was 10 years old. Lost her in 2016 to cancer, sadly. 😥
i'm also 65 years young and this video really warms my heart. i didn't have my mom until i was 25 but we really made up for lost time after that. i'm glad linnea has such a good relationship with her mom.
Same here. Watching this (especially now out of those teenage years), there's so many experiences that I wish we could have had together. That being said, I loved watching this, and Iceland is definitely on my list either this year or next year!
Learning to "live together" again can be tough, I'm sure, but hearing the laughter you two are sharing is beautiful. I hope you both enjoy this trip of a lifetime!

For me, it's I who miss my wonderful daughter whom I have travelled with SO many times and, the memories of these holidays and our time together, are the most wonderful I have... All the laughs we had, the places we slept - places we sometimes found when it was late evening and so dark we couldn't see anything... just to wake up the following morning, discovering a wonderful beach next to where we were... and, thousands of other wonderful places and shared experiences...card games, maps we studied, people we met... etc. etc
Experiences like these, are so important to store in our memory... These wonderful times together between mother and daughter can never be replaced by anything else...

She's been gone almost 3yrs now, this blog made me wish SO badly for just one more trip with her.
You NEVER get over it, you just learn to live with it.
The day is coming soon for my RV adventure, she'll still be along for the ride, just in different form.

I love snow, but from the warmth of inside looking out at it through my windows...lol, mainly because I'm not very steady on my feet, and usually end up on my butt!!! But Icelandic cold looks REALLY, REALLY COLD!!! Be safe, warm, and have a wonderful time sweet ladies!!!

I would love to had a chance to take a vacation like this with my mom. Vanlife was not a popular way to live no travel before she passed away in 2003. I’m 65 now, maybe my daughter and I can share a vacation spot like you and your mom did. I’ll have my van by May all ready to go with my dog Nicholas. I have been watching for a little bit and love that you are making a plan to have moments to cherish. You and Akela are so sweet! I’d love to take my pups and hubs on even one of your adventures, maybe someday! But I love that your mother and you are making this trip. It is and will be such a beautiful memory. I lost my mother a few years ago and wish we would have made a trip like this to enjoy and laugh together. Even with the tight fit it would have been an amazing adventure. Soak up every moment. We do not remember days we remember moments and this will be an amazing moment to cherish!
