But mam we know that trichomes are hair like outgrowths of epidermis, since it is hairy then it must have greater surface area which means more water loss and increases the rate of transpiration. So according to NCERT how it prevents water loss?
Hi Subhadip, trichomes reflect light, thereby reduce internal temperature and thus reduce water loss in plants. Some trichomes seen in plants growing in dry regions can even trap water vapour. This also prevents water loss. I hope it is clear now :) Best regards, Shanty

Sorry Pooja, it's wrong. In the lecture, I had showed the picture of a dicot leaf. Usually the lower surface of a dicot leaf has a greater number of stomata. And if you take the case of a monocot leaf, stomata are found more or less equal in number on both surfaces. Now you will remember this forever :) Also. thank you for trying to answer the question.
