Along with all these others, my deep appreciation for your work-up here. I've had a 7945G for years, and I just NEVER quite remember how to re-flash the damned thing when I need to. Very helpful! Big thanks!
Appreciate the step-by-step walkthrough. This came in handy when we were reconfiguring these Cisco phones to work with Thirdlane Multi Tenant PBX for our clients. Your video made the process much smoother. Thanks!
In settings at bottom of dhcp tab I had to click bind ip to dhcp server and it finally worked after trying all day. Thanks, this is the only video that covered every step necessary and all the write ups I found were obsolete
YOU DON"T NEED POE INJECTION to upgrade. Just hook up you phone to POE switch, disable DHCP on you router and run tftpd with your computer network address set as router ip and dhcp server with some random ip pool. Thanks for the video by the way!
I'd think it would be more cumbersome and invasive doing it that way. Keeping this isolated from your main network is probably the best way, unless you have a TFTP DHCP server already running on your network.
Did you connect the LAN cable from laptop to the ip phone? or from the ip phone to POE Lan Port on a switch?.. The connctivity seems confused to me... please help out.. i am using cisco IP phone 7942
Hey there, i recently purchased additional end of life Cisco 7945 models . Our third party telecommunications that we deal with tried to set up profile on the phone but it’s not taking . They had me do factory reset , but it just keeps going through reboot and upgrading process way over a day. They told me it will take a long time to catch up to the current firmware since it was probably boxed awayfor a long time . Would we need to do that process above as the only means to get it to upgrade to right firmware?
No, if your phones are doing this then you have to go through the steps I outlined in this video. Make sure you are getting the correct firmware based on what protocol your telecommunications company is using (SCCP or SIP)
If you want to download Cisco Phone Firmware, you do not need a Cisco Contract, but you will need a account, some software you will need both a Service Contract and a Account.
so if you start the process by pressing 123456789*# and you decided after to keep it the way it was how do you go back and make it like it never happened?
i keep getting these 3 errors with dhcp IP address 192 .168.0.2 flushed from ARP table [21/04 00: 21: 01. 246] DHCP: proposed address 192 .168.0.2 [21/04 00 :21: 04.358] Rcvd DHCP Discover Msg for IP 0. 0.0.0 and its not going anywhere any ideas?
This dude has a serious speech problem. As far as configs go its called provisioning and 3cx and freepbx have a template for this phone all over the place. I was looking for something and stumbled onto this video and it was so bad I had to watch it all lol. ummm oh and ummmm MAKE IT STOP!

Connected straight to the laptop. No switch or router.
Hi Aaron which port is the laptop connected to PC or switch port on phone?
@@jasonbecker1604 PC port is as passthrough the switch port is what you want to use.
THANKYOU
Very helpful!
Would this work on Mac?

Thanks for this video. Can you make a video on how to register these with freePBX? It would be a massive help to the community.
@@bcm50 can you help me connect a 7945 to freepbx?
@@FireAlert See if the freepbx forum can help you. Its pretty easy, you just need to enable TFTP and some other things to configure.
please will this work with 7975?
I don't see why it wouldn't, but I am not making any guarantees.

my cisco phone 7965 starts again and again, after upgrading to sip 9.4 (2) SR3. What can i do??
Try this again with different firmware, the firmware you have may be corrupt.
You may not like windows 10 but just a heads up sylupport for Windows 7 is ending after patch Tuesday of January 2020.

I don't believe there is away out of the upgrade mode.
Mine doesent even detect the files or server, only says ip 0.0.0.0 allocated...
Every time it boots any ideas what went wrong?
Yes
i keep getting these 3 errors with dhcp
IP address 192 .168.0.2 flushed from ARP table [21/04 00: 21: 01. 246]

Rcvd DHCP Discover Msg for IP 0. 0.0.0
and its not going anywhere

They changed their website, now you can download the firmware for free after creating an account.
Way too much idle chatter; dude, just show the work!

Yah but you need to pay for the templates in freepbx
