You could always drill the hole in the very bottom which will be flush up against the ground while the can is stationary. That will still break the vacuum when you go to pull the bag.
Do you just pour trash directly into a bin? If so, I guess that advice isn't for you. If not, I'm not sure why you're worried about little holes when there's a big hole at the top these things can already get in through. Maybe focus on cleaning up, instead of shooting the messenger.
Leon Francis did you forget most trash cans literally have a lid for that exact reason and to keep out water too. I mean so don’t but mice and rats can’t jump 3-4 feet. They on average can only jump 1-2 feet so no the “giant hole” in the top of a trash can does not allow mice and rats in.
What she failed to mention is that a normal wooden spoon has to be authentic and not a false type of wood. I have only used my Bamboo wooden spoons and it works everytime to keep my pots from boiling over. Oddly any wooden spoon doesn't fit and will sometimes allow the pot to bubble over...

It's handy to let little kids use the flaps of little cartons so they don't squeeze the box too hard. But I do not believe that they were manufactured like that just for that reason. I think it's more of a happy coincidence. If they were solely made for kids holding them, why would one liter milk boxes have those flaps too then. btw: if you can't imagine what I mean with a 1 liter milk carton, just go to google images and type in "brik melk" and you'll see several examples.

The pronunciation ones, the foil rolls and the banana one are definitely things people do wrong. And the ice cream one is completely wrong, if it's too hard to scoop your ice cream it means you've set your freezer too cold, it should be about -17° c (1° f).
Some of them are life hacks, but some are things people do wrong... really, it all depends on how things were originally designed to be used. Like the takeout boxes. they were originally meant to be unfolded and used like a plate.

You could always drill the hole in the very bottom which will be flush up against the ground while the can is stationary. That will still break the vacuum when you go to pull the bag.
Do you just pour trash directly into a bin? If so, I guess that advice isn't for you. If not, I'm not sure why you're worried about little holes when there's a big hole at the top these things can already get in through. Maybe focus on cleaning up, instead of shooting the messenger.
Leon Francis did you forget most trash cans literally have a lid for that exact reason and to keep out water too. I mean so don’t but mice and rats can’t jump 3-4 feet. They on average can only jump 1-2 feet so no the “giant hole” in the top of a trash can does not allow mice and rats in.

I know for a fact the TetraPack packaging associated with juice boxes is the ONLY reason for the flaps at the top. It is simple geometry of taking a flat sheet and making into a box shape (e.g. wrapping a present). The rest of the suggestions are spurious as well.
TYVM, the way it's held from the flaps is just clumsy. EDIT: But it does look like it could keep them from squeezing the box, come to think if it. But how else would you package it simply, the flaps look like a function of simple packaging.

I am from Belgium and in my country we have 1liter milk cartons that also have flaps like that.
It's handy to let little kids use the flaps of little cartons so they don't squeeze the box too hard. But I do not believe that they were manufactured like that just for that reason. I think it's more of a happy coincidence.
If they were solely made for kids holding them, why would one liter milk boxes have those flaps too then.
btw: if you can't imagine what I mean with a 1 liter milk carton, just go to google images and type in "brik melk" and you'll see several examples.

In some countries milk might be sold in cartons with flaps that you can fold open, in other countries they might be sold in cartons without those flaps. For example in Belgium I think most cartons have those flaps, but in China there are many products in cartons without those flaps.
Also in other countries they might sell milk in plastic of glass bottles.
Or in plastic jugs which have handles (I've noticed a lot of milk in the US is sold in plastic jugs instead of cartons, though I have seen milk in cartons and plastic bottles too in the US)

Obviously Dr. Seuss can pronounce his name any way he wants because he made up his pen name. Though he's American, with a name like Geisel he probably has German heritage. So he probably pronounces his name G-eye-sel and not G-ee-sel like an American would. Seuss would be pronounced S-oi-ss in Germany like Freud is pronounced Froid not Frude. Idk if it was intended to be used by this but I have seen it in person and the method works. The kid is not squeezing the middle of the box and so it is drank without a mess and no, opening the flap does not create issues. It works very well, enough to convince me that if it was not meant for this purpose it should be marketed for this purpose. And this is coming from actual exp with children not from internet or documentaries I saw. At the end of the day, intent is irrelevant because it def is a hack that works 100 percent.
