Had msfs since release and got vatsim just before, been meaning to match the two together for months but been so busy with flight training. Nice to have a simple tutorial such as this and im done in 10 mins

Heads up they make you do a test in order to activate your account to be able to connect. It is only 15 questions but do not think you can skip through and skate by reading there orientation. Just did this by the video it blew my mind how quick the guy replied I wasn't sure he was talking to me.

@@bronney I've seen a lot about that. I've actually never used live pause. Only way I've been able to keep the autopilot from trying to kill me is turning it off a few hundred feet from the designated altitude. Then I just hand fly the rest. But of a pain but at least i can keep my 172 from thinking it can do aerobatics. 🤣🤣🤣
@@JenniferinIllinois ha. So you die by airframe stress. Interesting. I find AP likes to kill you with trim when you turn it off. Just make sure your hands are on the stick when you do. So far it's only the live pauses that kills. ILS for example is totally fine. I turn off right before it hits the numbers and it's smooth sailing. I guess if you turn AP on right after taking off in the opposite direction it might try to kill you 🤣

Nice video, good explanation on what to do where and why. Just one small thing, you have a very clear voice, but why are you trying to talk faster than your Airbus 320 fly ? Make the video 1 minute longer, it will make it a much more pleasent experience
At the moment there is no model matching for FS2020 so you won't see liveries or the the plane they are flying unless it's already in the game, they will just be a generic aeroplane.

Hey man, thanks for the video! Msfs 2020 is my first flight Sim and I've spent the last 50 hours flying my Cessna 172 around. Every vatsim video I see uses jets.... Is it discouraged to use these smaller planes on the vatsim network? It intrigues me greatly and am wondering if I should spend the time necessary to get familiar with a jet before jumping on the network. Thanks!
No problem my man! No, it is not discouraged to use general aviation aircraft. Lot's of people do it. But, the majority of people do use it for commercial airline routes. You can hop on the network with any plane! In fact, you will give the tower controllers more practice in the VFR area of flight haha.
When it comes to flying at big airports is it required to know the codes In order to fly in the area? I’ve been having trouble passing the test and I don’t want to make other people mad if I’m flying in a busy airport since I would have to use the codes. Is the best thing to do just fly at small airports so you don’t have to use the codes?

Hi, thanks for the video. I've followed these steps. I've received an email with my CID and PW. But, the CID does not work (post 24hrs). On raising a ticket I'm being told I need to complete an exam before my account will be active? Therefore, I cannot log on to VATSIM, Vpilot, forums or anything else that is linked to VATSIM. I'm at a bit lost? Any links of tips - as right now I'm stuck in a loop.... I need to login, but can't login!
I’m not sure why that would be! You shouldn’t have to take an exam though. That’s weird. I would contact Vatsim support and tell them your issue and they can get it fixed up for you!
Probably already fixed but i'm new and you do need to take an exam to connect to vatsim it's pretty short and simple (provided you have basic knowledge of aviaton), on vatsim go to learn -->new-member-orientation-course
Hey guys, I know it might be a bit late. But it's true, you have to take a little exam. It's really not difficult, they just want to make sure you have an idea of what you are doing. You find the exam under "My Exams" on the Education Hub in the menu on the left. You can take it as often as needed, so don't worry about it.
I have Microsoft flight simulator 2020 I bought the whole version for both Xbox and PC combined as one so I downloaded it to my PC and have vatsim and Vpilot. Dumb noob question got vats all set up but the ai and default atc is still switching my radio freq and playing how do you disable this? it takes me off the vatsim freq.
If doing everything correctly, is it okay to not have any specific meaning with your Cessna flight? Could you just like to a minor tour within a sq4nm around the airport? In this case, what would you say to the ATC?
You can just say something like "requesting vfr traffic advisories for local flight" or flight around or along something like "coast line". Mind if you avoid the airspace, you won't need to contact atc.
@@Pentabyt I just ignored that it wasn’t picking anything up from the mic. I just started a new flight, logged on to Vatsim and the controllers could hear me loud and clear. Then I went to check my settings and it was picking it up.
When I change my radio once it say to 126.300 and then I go back to change it to say 121.850 the dial doesnt move and the frequency doesnt change reeeeee
When i try to connect to the vatsim i put in the stuff and the correct code and then it says network error: invalid CID/password. Then disconnected from network. then it says error connecting to voice server: connect failed (Forbidden-) Please help me fix this

I have been facing an issue where my frequency does not change when I input it and move it to the active position, when I click change, it changes for a second then changes back to the com1 frequency, any idea what might help? Hey i was having the same issue but i just figured out how to fixed. You have to go to setting, then assistance options, after that click on piloting, then scroll down till you find an option that say AI RADIO COMMUNICATIONS (ATC) then just turn it off and you’ll be good to go. 🤙

ATIS voice was like a digital god :)
5 by 5 refers to volume and clarity, in that order. Or "strength and readability". it used to be followed, or replaced by Loud and Clear.
in HAM Radio it's 5-9 or Clarity =5/5 Signal Strength = 9 or "You're 5 - 9 "

Yes use real world weather, then multiplayer off and AI traffic off. Apparently vPilot puts other vatsim users in the game for you

Hello! I am just wondering on MFS2020 can you input the Flight Plan while in the menu or do I need to use the FMC to put in the FP.
You can use the world map, but it is more realistic to put in waypoints yourself!

you just start a regular flight on Flight Sim? what about multiplayer settings? people who are not using VATSIM are mixed in?
Yes sir you do! Set your multiplayer to off. Vatsim automatically populates the world with other aircraft on Vatsim!

When I try to connect the ATIS it like says something for 2 seconds and then cuts. Also when I try to change frequency's it goes back to the active.

for me it says invalid id/ password when i try and connect and i know for a fact that i put it in right
