I've just realized, until this video, I have NEVER seen a complete Castle Greyskull a day in my life. lol. Another great one. Thanks
Same with me. I think my sister and I both wound up losing the weapons rack, training device, flag and upper ledges. Plus I never knew about the cardboard parts.
@@brianschwartz1372 Maybe it was the packaging. Most 3-10 year olds aren't the most sagacious nor thorough on a Christmas morning, so intricate parts are easily overlooked an instructions... puh! We don't need no stinking instructions
agreed
It’s a new product but the Masters of the Universe Origins one is a great homage to this.
I am a 44 year old man, I shouldn't be enjoying watching a man wash Castle Greyskull in a sink...but I am. :)
Anyone else was a member of the He-Man fan club in the early 80's?
Always wanted gray skull growing up, parents couldn’t afford it. Now that I’m 40, I just recently purchased the origins version. And I could not be happier. This Vintage one looks great.
I just restored one myself. What a joy doing it. Just waiting for my last piece on the weapons rack.
I was so into Star Wars I never knew about these He-Man toys, very interesting
I watched this years ago, forgot about your channel (didn't subscribe like I should've), and just rediscovered it. Your restorations remain super impressive, and also very encouraging to someone like me who frets about toy damage. Keep up the great work.
Welcome aboard!
Congrats on your achievements & may your success continue! Thanks for your videos!
Thank you so much!
Congrats on your achievements! May success continue. Thanks!
Wow, thanks 🖖👍
Well, Mr. Polloi, here's a slime recipe. Haven't made it myself, but the internets and the youtubes have tons of recipes. Bon courage.
What You Need:
School glue
Borax (Sodium tetraborate)
Food coloring (optional)
Water
Two bowls
What You Do:
In one bowl mix 1 oz. glue (about ¼ of the glue bottle) and ¼ cup water. If you want colored slime, add food coloring to the glue and water mixture. Lift some of the solution out of the container with the stir stick and note what happens.
Add ¼ cup of Sodium Tetraborate (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly.
The slime will begin to form immediately. Lift some of the solution with the stir stick and observe how the consistency has changed from Step 1.
Stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. This is a messy experience but is necessary because it
allows the two compounds to bond completely. Don't worry about any
leftover water in the bowl; just pour it out.
When not in use, store the slime in a plastic bag in the fridge to keep it
from growing mold.

+luvz2reed Thanks. I have a few recipes now. So I will give them a try and see which works best.
My mom got me a castle Grayskull for my birthday I can’t stop playing with it cause im a kid and I like He-Man and castle Grayskull IS LIT. Big thanks to my mom she does so much for me and only deserves the best
Just wanted to thank you for the stickers. I‘ve just recently acquired a Castle Grayskull in pretty bad condition (door, fixation of the throne and weapon rack damaged and no stickers at all) With the stickers from your site, my friend who fix any broken toy (he was miraculous in the restauration of my old secret wars Spiderman) will be able to restaure it
I don't collect old toys, I don't restore old toys but boy do I love watching your videos. 😃
+indianaevans That's great! Can I ask what you like so much about them if you don't collect toys?
+Toy Polloi well it's something I'd like to do but space & money issues aside I have lots of hobbies that take up most of my time. So watching your videos is the next best thing for me, kinda relaxing, very informative & seeing a lot of these toys takes me back to my childhood.
+indianaevans That's cool. It virtual toy collecting and restoring. Glad you like them.
+indianaevans I liked your comment so much it's now on my website :D www.toypolloi.com/index.php/comments
one of the best play sets ever.
Very good friend
My God! What an incredible channel! I do not believe I can repair many items in my collection with your help! Thank you very much, I'm recovering a great moment from my childhood!
You did a beautiful job bringing this Greyskull back to like! Much appreciated that you did this!
Man, you are probably sick of hearing this but you are just way to good at this, impressive job..
+GAMERDANKAR Thanks!
This is one heck of a great video tutorial. My Greyskull does not have any issues, but if I run into any or find another that needs repair this is an extremely useful guide. Thank you! Subscribed.
absolutely an awesome job with the cardboard pieces!!!
Pure genius!
I don't need restoration because my MOTUS are perfect because of my love!!!!
An absolute superb video : )
Loved watching everything come together and the final result looked amazing .
+SHONADH01 Thanks. It does look very nice now.
Brilliant Job..Really loved that vid
Absolutely FANTASTIC work. WOW. I had no idea one could make the cardboard inserts with such ease. Truly breathtaking.
Thanks so much 😊
wonderful results and great addition to your collection. love your channel!
I got a Vintage Castle and started restoring it today. Already printed the cardboards and fixed the door like you showed, just used a wood pin instead of plastic, but cut it like in the video, it is perfect. So, thanks a lot for the instructions :)
That fingernail-on-plastic scratch has pierced my soul. 😱😱😱
Hi Dave, great video! Your restoration skills are amazing. I have restored a vintage Millennium Falcon and a vintage Slave 1, and I am in the process of restoring a Kenner Star Destroyer. Next I think I would like to tackle the much needed restoration of my childhood Castle Grayskull. Keep up the great work!
GREAT JOB!
Superb video as usual, glad I've found this channel very informative 👍
Looks awesome! Great video! Just got mine today!!
Very good job, makes me want to hunt down a Greyskull for myself haha
so awesome! great job.
I know some people look down on what you do, but I'll NEVER agree with those people. You give new life to toys on the edge of death. Thank you!
They are in the minority. Most people see the merits of my work which is great.
I love your videos. I wind down my day watching you bring these toys back to their former glory. You are Like the Bob Ross of toy restoration. I hope you take that as a compliment.
Wow, thanks! I hear the Bob Ross thing quite often and I don't mind at all.
Really enjoyable! I found your channel through the Kenner Death Star restoration, and have been binging your videos a tad! This is fantastic, I loved your solution for the door peg.
Your videos are Awesome!! Very informative.
great job
Nice job!
Awesome 👏🏻 🔥
Excellent, some very clever repairs here too!
You love your Battle Damaged He-Men. Nice work!
I do. But not as much as Battle Armour Skeletor!
nice work!
great job btw
excellent video
Amazing
great video and how to....and thanks for sharing the prints on your website
My favourite video yet
+Jambo Shango & The Randy Mole's Movie Show thanks!
Wow i never knew about the gargoyle, i have 2 greyskulls that i can now try to restore, great video 👍
I'm a he man motu collecter and you do a wonderful job :) love your videos
+gxbouncer1 Thanks. Glad you approve. It's a fun set. I will do another video soon covering some other issues with it.
+Toy Polloi looking forward to it as I said love all of your videos;)
In regards to the door hinge pin in a + shape, I would recommend the plastic standoffs that hold the fruit suspended from the base on an Edible Arrangements product. They are sturdy, approximately 8 inches in length, and 2 sizes on the same rod. It's white in color.
Thank you from grandparents that want to pass down our kids toys to our grandkids and great grandkids. It means a lot to us.
Awesome
On the jawbridge I fixed it in 1983 with a push pin, I super glued it in and the plastic melted in.
Hey toy polloi i recommend using a bit of K’NEX for the peg on the door
I just got one on Ebay...it's stamped 1981..I need the stickers and one floor...thank you and thumbs up as always....
great video! I see Fortress of Fangs there at the end!
+Anthony M. You did indeed. Another great playset.
Good video, thank you for sharing. Off topic, superb channel name👍
Thank you!
thx... I love your vidz man soo peacefull and taking me back to childhood ;)
Glad you like them!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ love it...
I do not run the toyjesus.com website. If the site is not available, I don't know why. Sorry. You can still get the same file here www.he-man.org/collecting/toy.php?id=542&image=8198
Thanks a lot !!! :)
Thank you 🥰
If it weren't for you,the aging of childhood toys that are in disrepair have hope of resurrection,I'd like to see you repair a Remco 6 inch glow Monster
very entertaining good show cheers 🍺🍺
THANKS u save me, for buying another one from 2nd hand market ...i will try to restore my original ....thanks for tips
Great video/tutorial ✌👍👍
+Rushabh shah Great. That's what I like to hear. Good luck.
Great content, subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
you got lucky with this one, mine didn't have the floor trap piece which was ridiculously hard to find for a decent price. I did my own restoration and most of the stickers I printed on some sticker paper. Probably should have went with glossy, but it still looks OK. I did the flag pole, the computer sentry guy, the other weapons, and the banner. I used a cereal box to recreate the card stock pieces that were included with the set. What a great playset! Everything else I had to buy for premium prices, like the ladder and training spinner. I think I may have the original elevator at least with white string and falcon holder.
Great idea on the cereal box - I think I may try that and just print on sticker paper
someone should create 3d models of all the small plastic pieces
Badass
sir you are the master of the action figure universe
+chilly22 why thank you!
I always wanted Castle Greyskull when I was a kid, as I had the figures. I asked for it one Christmas, but when my mum and dad went to buy it, they saw it on display and thought it looked cheap and crappy. Instead they bought me the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Fortress of Fangs which at first I was a little disappointed in (I didn't tell them). However, after playing with it, I realised it was a really nice castle, trapdoors, wall of spikes, a slide to the loot chest, lava and a prison cell. So much so, I went mad buying D&D figures and the bronze dragon! It was really solidly built too. But of course, years later I go away to university and come back to find it had all been sold at a jumble sale along with my Star Wars and Mask toys...
+Liofa that's a shame they got rid of it. The fortress is a great playset. I have one here that I am slowly re building.
+Liofa Sorry to hear about them all been sold. Wish you could fine Star Wars figures at JS nowadays, These days its junk, junk and more junk.
The Fortress of Fangs was pretty cool, but as good as Castle Grayskull. Castle Grayskull opens up to allow easy access to the interior, making it bigger, and thanks to the the carry handle it was more portable too.
What is a size of the closed castle (tall, width., height)
The vintage Castle Grayskull dimensions are:
Height - 18 inches
Width - 12 inches
Depth - 10 inches
I need a lift runner the bar slides on otherwise good and yeah it's shaped for good
Fantastic work Dave, whats next a Death Star or Star Destroyer restoration?
+No1.StarWarsFan if I had one I would love to do it.
+Toy Polloi Fair enough. If you could get one of the Death Stars which would it be the UK or the US one? I think I prefer the UK as it's miles bigger the US one is still cool though.
+Joe Eversole Wonder what you could use as a rope replacement? very bad design in the day having bend it and been removable lost easily.
Kind of funny watching him brushing castle greyskull's teeth on the door,
While not a HeMan fan...I do see brilliant ideas in your fixes!
Love your videos man. Do you do any TMNT repair?
Great Job Pal.... Wish Someone Would Give Me A Free Castle GreySkull XD
You should look up bone folders online. They are really nice for smoothly scoring board.
Great video. I recommend putting the string through the window near the lift and attaching the gargoyle so that it hangs on the outside of Castle Grayskull. That way the lift shaft won't get dislodged when you pull on the string (a design flaw with the lift mechanism).
"So if I rotate He-Man round, the trap door should spring open ..."
... and whack poor old Thunder Punch He-Man in the head!
+GreyHulk2 it's a cunning plan!
I remember always finding Castle Greyskull at the bootfairs, never see them now. I use 'Goo Gone' for sticker removal, its amazing stuff.
Thank you for uploading the stickers for free. By the way, what kind of cardboard have you use?
Great channel!!!
I used some that came with some other printer paper. Nothing special. It was packing card.
@@toypolloi Thanks!!!!
Remember those rods you used for the Y-Wing struts ?? They would be ideal for the door peg fix on this wouldn't they ??
Love your video. I have a Castle Grayskull that I am restoring as well. For the cut out prints, I bought card stock paper. Is that a good substitute as well? Thank you Toy Pollio if you see my question!
I'm sure it will be fine. Just needs to be thin-ish card.
Have you tried poly cement rather than glue for joining plastics? In theory the bond should be stronger.
+GamerWho I haven't. I'll take a look.
What's the protocol for restorations like this? Is the idea to keep everything as original as possible? I could see a couple of things that could use some improvement, mainly the paint and mold seams, but once again, I'm not sure what is expected.
There is no toy collecting rule book. Do what you enjoy. Cheers
Thanks a lot for your amazing job Pal! You do great, I love all your work on MOTU stuff. I have a question, and I don't think it's been talked about here. I have issues with the prints scale, when I print them as it comes they don't feet the castle's parts. Do you know with scale I must print them ? Thanks a lot for your help.
Thanks. Check out the FAQ on toypolloi.com that will give you all the answers you need. Cheers
Thank you so much
love your videos bro, I was wondering if you have replacement stickers to doc terror and hacker from centurions?
+DRAGOIV 80 Hey, thanks. That's not a toy line I collect. Cheers
Tothbrushing castle Grayskull XD
Just found a castle grayskull for £3 here in Denmark, It is missing a few parts, but I have used your video and prints. Can you make a print/toturial for the flag? (Managed to buy most parts from friends in DK).
Cheap!
I always found super glue very brittle so no flex then snap, I tried super glue on my ghosbusters pinball game hinge which snapped Xmas day when I got it sadly gone now, in never did hold.
+Crazy Monkey (Jame Pond) it depends on what you are gluing.
Very excellent ideas!butto to me is broken the flor how can i do it?
I'm missing the 2 platforms that go at the top. [Under the gun turret and on the opposite side] Anyone know of a template I could trace and cut them out of heavy card.
I did what you said with the Gargoyle, but then the lift doesn't go all the way back down. It's around 2 inches from the ground.
+herbie747 You must have hooked it too near to the back.
I put it in EXACT same place as you did. Your video cut away before you let the elevator down though - you sure it went down fully, and you didn't re-adjust 1 section to the right after filming? ;-)
Got it fixed anyway - great video, thanks.
No idea. Worked for me. Glad you got it fixed.
Just completed my Grayskull yesterday with the arrival of my pistol. Cleaned it up using most of what you did in your video.
Even repaired the door - both of my pegs were fine, but they were too short. So I extended one using some lego, and also had to fix (i.e. re-build) 1 side of the receiver. Great idea using Lego for fixing MOTU stuff - I used an old Lego knights sword handle to fix my Road Ripper's seatbelt receiver.
Also, thanks for the touched up print-outs.
Hello, I have a question, do you how could I fix the elevator rail? it broke right after the bottom clip
Most likely plastic weld would work to repair that.
Hi my friend....you are great!!!
One question ..How much is the thickness of the card for the stickers?
1 to 1.5mm should do. It's like cornflake box cardboard. Cheap and quite thin. Cheers
@@toypolloi thank you very much from Italy
Hi Dave do you know how to fix the waist action in vintage MOTU figures please or do you have a video available to show this ? Cheers pal.
Replacing the spring requires opening the figures up which is not easy and can cause serious damage to them. So for now best to leave them as is. Cheers
@@toypolloi yeah i thought that gutted got a few like that thanks Dave.
You ever do a video on the T-rex that was released late in the MOTU line?
Toy Polloi ... what do you suggest is the best way to patch up a small hole in the Vintage Castle Grayskull structure? Thanks
We're is the hole? And how big?
@@toypolloi the hole is maybe half an inch in diameter and in near the top of the bridge of the nose of the skull to its right side so its above the right eye socket. You can hardly see it when you are looking straight on
I was tempted to leave it as battle damage but I’m OC
Was thinking of mixing green and black clay but wanted to get your opinion. Thank you
Do you have WD-40 in the UK? I find it works real well for removing glue from stickers and such!
We do. But I find lighter fluid better. WD-40 smells very strong and leaves and oily residue that you need to clean off. Lighter fluid evaporates and leaves nothing.
I apologize if I sounded line an ass for asking about WD40 in the UK. I am just completely unfamiliar what all is carried "across the pond"! I'll have to try lighter fluid next time!
I have found that cereal boxes work perfectly instead of card stock paper. Try it and let me know what you think.
Sounds good. How do you stop the printed images on the box coming through? Extra thick paper.?
@@toypolloi I you sticker paper, which is slightly thicker. But if your using glue stick with thin paper print, a light coat of primer grey should do the job. Or flat white.
You ended up with a more complete and impressive castle than the brand new one I owned when I was little. It was beautiful to watch this come together so well.
+garshanarny Thanks. This is the first one I ever owned.
