Fantastic breakdown! Just enough technical jargon to be informative but not overwhelming. I always enjoy hearing why photographers are drawn to their lenses. Someday I’ll get a true macro lens, so will definitely be bookmarking this for later.
Are these good for video aswell as photography? I am looking for what camera and lens I should buy to do close up of hotwheels videos, been using my phone for now and i need something better thankyou
Sure, lenses are a creative choice. A macro is about magnification so this is useful for filling the frame with a minifig more. But if your vision is to have the minifig much smaller in the frame, then another lens will work fine. Understand your lens's focal length, and work with that in mind.
@@FourBricksTall thanks for replying,i used to shoot figma or revoltech, kinda interested with lego bcoz we can have a smaller setup for shot, since i dont have any macro lens,i'm affraid that i will have to super crop it after shot
It depends on what you want to shoot and how much of the environment you need in your frame. Check out the blog post on fourbrickstall.com about my toy photography workflow to help you figure it out.
Sure do: www.brickcentral.net/camera-accessories-for-pseudo-macro-lego-photography/ TL;DR it's a good entry point but you'll run into limitations quickly.
Guys, could sb help me? I'm starting with toy photography, and wanna get my 1st camera. Don't know if getting a Canon M50 or a Fuji X-T200. Wanna shoot lego and 6 inch Marvel Legends. I'd like to shoot birds in the park when possible too.
You can't really go wrong with a mirrorless body. It's the lenses you should be looking at. Check the range of lenses available for either of these mounts first.

Thanks! My goal is to keep it concise. My test is that if my kid can understand it, it's good to go 😂
This video is so nice! It just answered all my question!
I have been searching for a lego-focused toy photography channel for such a long time! best YT algo recommendation ever!
I'm glad you found me! We have a Discord channel for just LEGO photographers if you're looking for more of us: discord.gg/HwkZFH5

@@FourBricksTall It’s my pleasure!
This is fantastic!! Thank you!
How happy are you with the 30mm lens?
It's my go-to lens
Great video,i wanna ask can we still shoot a great lego photo without any macro lens?i mean like sigma 60mm f2.8 for example

I’m a year late
But what should be my first macro lens??

@@FourBricksTall I care about the environment
Minimum distance is a half body shot
But I have a full frame camera and the full frame micro lenses are out of my budget
So probably I’ll get an aps lens
Hi, do you have any experiences with macro rings?
Sure do: www.brickcentral.net/camera-accessories-for-pseudo-macro-lego-photography/
TL;DR it's a good entry point but you'll run into limitations quickly.
hey, do you know the name of the sony e-mount adapter you use for the macro takumar lens?
It's a M42-NEX focal reducer since I use that lens on a APS-C camera. Just get a M42-NEX adapter if you're shooting full-frame.
You are the best
I used to have that same sony lens adapter, but unfortunately sold it my senior year of college. What a fool I was.
Don't worry about it. Better lenses that are cheaper than the adapter have come out.
