As one numismatist put it, if you know your coins you can spot fakes like you would spot a normal car with a fancy paintjob pretending to be an expensive model.
Big shout out goes to Daniel for sharing his coin videos with everyone. I much appreciate them because I’ve learned a lot since I started watching his videos.
Thanks
That rim! LOL!
Thanks for the tutorial, Daniel. At a glance, the rim looked funky and the coin was too thick.
Thank you for all you do! I appreciate the knowledge you possess and share with all of us.
I love your videos on fakes. I used to collect classic head gold 2.50 & 5.00, and so many were not genuine. Most were of the right weight, but failed a gold test. I found a book with all the dies used to be the key. Thanks again.
Makes me wonder why someone would go to the trouble of making a fake with such an obvious mistake with the 3 stars. Don't get it. Rim is terrible too.
It still fools people, most people don’t know about the stars, so you can’t look at it through the lens, that everyone knows what you know.
@@CoinHELPu Looking at the old coins surely is nostalgic. When I first looked and saw the stars on the "1916' I wondered if I was mixed up as it just seemed too obvious. I think back about all the worn quarters that went through my hands 60+ years ago and wonder if any of them was a 1916 as I didn't know how to pick them out from the 1917 at the time. Wish I had kept my Mickey Mantle baseball cards and all the rest too. Wish someone had told me that the local coin dealer in 1960, Harry Blanchard, had been a cashier in my grandfather's bank in 1920. Would have asked him many questions. So many things.
Great information 👍
Impresionante 😮 excelente pieza interesante 👍🏾 buen video
It’s my dream to find one. I buy every decent priced cull no date type 1 just in case. Someday I hope it pays off!
No stars on the reverse of a 1916 SLQ!!! Thanks for sharing Daniel. 😎👍👍
The 1916 does indeed have stars. They are laid out around the rim, 13 stars in total, with 7 on one side and 6 on the other. The type 2 that Daniel mentions has the same amount of stars, but it has 3 under the eagle. The obverse of the type 1 also shows the exposed breast of Lady Liberty, on the type 2 she is fully covered.
@@torpedo1306 you are correct. 👍 I do know this, but was just typing my immediate reaction… I’ll edit it to include the word reverse. Ty. 😎
Thanjs Daniel. Know the coin before you buy raw...and that can actually be said about skabbed coins too...
Great content on how to spot a coin and identify without date. valuble content. Thanks.
The 1916 SLQ doesn't have the stars below the eagle.
I’d LOVE to own a nice authentic mint state 1916 SLQ…it’s too bad my granddad didn’t put an original roll back for his future favorite grandson…LoL
Great class loved the format..
Tony
You're an absolute beast with the amount of educational content you put out! 💪😎
Thank you Daniel for sharing your expertise and making such wonderful and helpful videos! Are you going to the show and Tulsa? I hope you are!
Thanks, Daniel! I don't generally collect SLQs as a rule, but I'm pretty sure I have some "no-date" ones among the quarters in my generic silver stack. Now I'm thinking I probably ought to look them over more carefully "just in case".
It appears to be cast.
Thanks Daniel for another great informative video. I know I have some, just not here.
I don't keep my coins in my home. Doubtful that I have one of these, sadly.
Thank you
1:17 Great educational video on that rare coin. Just a ? How much are you paying for Peace Dollars average circulated but not slick. VF.? Silver spot at $31.50
3 Stars under the Eagle on a 1916? To tell the truth as I saw the thumbnail of the video I thought "that looks fake" and the 3 stars under the eagle is a type 2 back, not type 1.
I thought the coins obverse and reverse orientation was off.. Anyone else notice that?? I may very well be mistaken. Great info Sir.. Thank you and please keep giving us your tips and knowledge.
He did flip it over in an unusual way. But it does look like correct orientation.
It is
Great reveal! I actually laughed out loud! 😂
Saw it the second you showed the reverse, lol. I have a type 1 '16, several type 1 '17's and several type 2 '17's.
Thanks Dan The Man
Great info!!
I have a 1927 liberty quarter
Good info video, thanks
I have one that Pcgs couldn't decide it was a metal detector find from Arizona I have to send it to Anacs for authentication. I could tell.its a Fake before you flipped it over it also looks like it was cast looking at the reverse it has a raised spot and small pin holes.
I think the rim is just too wide and bold. It's suspect based on that alone.
AND DON'T FORGET THE STARS UNDER THE EAGLE TOO!!
I thot counterfeit when I saw the rim, very good information!!
Good video Daniel
always wanted one.
In God we trust
Hello Daniel
Did only the 1916 have the exposed breast, or did the 1917 type 1 as well? I don't know much about old silver. Pre-1933 gold is my focus.
Yes 1916 and 1917 type 1 have the exposed breast.
1916 doesn’t have the stars on the bottom of the reverse
Did you get watch the video?
Yes. Awesome video. Very informative brother. Thank you !!! 🙏
Parabéns
Where is the best place to get coins graded ?

It’s looks sooooooo wrong. I would have caught this immediately
I have some coins but i want to sell them
It’s not a 1916…if it was it wouldn’t have the 3stars under the eagle.
Great video about knowing everything you can about the coins you intend to collect.
Doesn't even look metallic
Looks like a plastic quarter to me from here
It’s metal.
