I like the idea of not loading the hive with frames. It would definitely help the bees, also the bee keeper who doesn't have to check all the frames. I miss my bees but I would definitely do this if I get back into it.

Another good video David. I'm with previous poster regarding his questions about the salt. Can you explain that please?
Do you mean how does the salt work? Its basically a shock of sodium overload that weeds are not use to. My thoughts would be if salt was added to the weeds slowly they would adapt. Just like experiencing with fish, they adapt over a drawn out process. But with a unadjusted overload of sodium the weeds cannot adapt and die.
Has anyone ever used 5 frames hive as honey Production hives?

No, I've never tried them. These young queens build up very slowly. My challenge is to get this Colony as big as possible by fall.
Do you notice that the queen only lays the amount of eggs they can keep warm? She may be holing back. And like you say, she's new yet.

Hello, I have a bit of an emergency. Did a 5frame split about 3 weeks ago. It has a queen and plenty of food. It was getting robbed, so I decided to completely close it up for a few days. It has ventilation. Do you think I’ll be ok? Thank you

Use 1 cup salt per gallon of water, and 3 or 4 drops of dawn dishwasher. It will cause a sodium overload causing the weeds to dry out, and die.
