I can’t stress enough how important this video is. I’m a 30yo woman, disabled since early teens due to a genetic disease. Personally, I can’t get into gaming; it just doesn’t float my boat. However, I’ve seen how fundamentally important it is to the disabled & sick community. Naturally you make friends where you spend most your time. For myself, like many sick/disabled kids, that’s the hospital. I think I was one of only a couple in my Fully Sick 🤙friend group who wasn’t heavily into gaming. And whilst it doesn’t float my boat, I saw what a lifeline it was for so many of my friends & fellow hospital crew. One guy I was inpatient with had been inpatient 9 months when I met him, he was 18 & had a SCI. All day everyday our 6 bed room had the ambience of him *taptaptaptap FUCK YEH taptaptap HAhahaHA. insert generic gamer insult here* as he played WOW, laughing maniacally into his headset. He was a WOW force to be reckoned with. A guy opposite us with Cystic Fibrosis also played. They’d often play ‘together’ from their respective beds. I don’t remember ever seeing them chat IRL to one another, despite being 6 feet apart; only via headset 😂 Another mate of mine with OI, ‘brittle bone’ was heavily into every form of gaming. Today he makes an impressive living via e-sports. My girl friends were equally into gaming, if not more. Although ror the most part they seemed to prefer Sims, Harry Potter etc. Although a few are fierce COD competitors. I became sick/disabled just as live play was becoming a thing. Respect to the IT crews at the hospital, I still don’t know how they managed to get such quality internet for live play to so many teenagers 15 year ago. Whatever they were getting paid, it wasn’t enough. Sick, disabled, & neurodiverse people form the very foundations of gaming. I look back on my memories of this time with a deep fondness. Gaming is the great equaliser for sick & disabled people; especially teenagers, where your fundamental value is determined by the perceptions of your peers. I’ve watched my mates say ‘BRB’ to go vomit from the latest round of chemo, with nobody online any the wiser. I’ve seen nurses access ports & ostomies to the sound of _EADC!_ . I’ve watched my friends make friends from around the world, people who become an integral part of their everyday life & connection. I’ve seen online/in game memorials to friends who have passed. I’d absolutely love to see someone like yourself Cole be hired as an accessibility consultant by game & console designers, & talking about disabled inclusion & culture within gaming. You’re both so charismatic, I fully expect to see your Twitch find a lot of success. If I’ve learned one thing about gaming culture, it’s that fellow gamers possess a mad respect for anyone who finds a way to immerse themselves in game/play despite challenges e.g being disabled. I’ve no doubt they’re embracing you both, & also really enjoying seeing your gaming style & setup. Big love to you Cole & Charisma as always, from down under ❤

Great video Cole, is nice that you use your platform to spread awareness of accessibility in video games. I'm disabled with only use of one hand (and some finger issues) and one leg, I'm a huge gamer and after my accident I thought gaming was over for me, until I decided to get over my slump, I made my own setup with the xbox adaptive controller and after a lot of trial and error now I'm able to game using one hand and one foot.
im not really into the gaming thing but this was fun to watch. is it possible to see a closer look at what Cole's hands and fingers are doing? that would be unique to see up close along w the game.
I broke my neck c4-c7 so I know some people like me and him are fingers don’t work it’s very crazy how much it drives me crazy not to have my hands working like before I broke my neck

I'm a c5/c7 quadriplegic 28yrs now.. I'm a PC gamer and have never used any adapter to help. I just use a trackball and gaming keyboard! I love playing FPS games. the only thing I wish was if they made a joystick so you can strafe left and right at shot at the Sametime!
Hey there I have the same xbox controller you do, i was trying to set it up so it works for me and was getting frustrated. Do you have any tips on set up? Also can you link the adapter for the switch, i tried a different one and it didn't seem to work. Do you have to unpair it from xbox everytime you want to play on the switch? Thanks a bunch! Say you play a racing game with a wheel would you prefer to use the adaptable controller or since it’s not an FPS or combat game could you use the buttons on the wheel?
I actually got to try this set up at abilities expo. I don't have the coordination to use most controllers. They had it so I was playing a car race game on an x box where I normally can't use an x box controller. I never bought it, I don't game on consoles much, but it was a cool experience.
As someone who games and is not disabled, watching Cole use his set up is so dope! Definitely gonna have to watch ur twitch
