Is the tensioner spring loaded and pushes that yellow nylon or plastic against the chain?
This chain has a tensioner on the back side of the head. (firewall side) Screws in then you hit it from the chain side to activate it.
Might have missed it but why use the torque angle gauge instead of a torque wrench?
Did this repair maybe 34 months ago. It was whatever torque in ft lbs, and then a additional so many degrees.

From Leo: Stinking engineers, torque to yield bolts on an over complicated engine, set sideways in a FWD car. I attached sprockets to cams on OHC engines since the 1970's and none of them were such a problem. The engineer, and the executive that allowed the design should be replaced.
Yep! Was ready to put them together and had to order those 2 torque to yield bolts!
Such a terrible engine, absolute junk. They keep us techs busy though.
This is the 2nd one I have had the pleasure of working on as a DIYer. This one a friend sold me as they were quoted more to fix it than it is worth. (as you know, this is a lot of hours of work)
