Great series... Definitely going to try this out. I'm a graphic designer so I typically find it more simple to change colors in Illustrator, but I have no problem with options. I'll start using this technique as well. You did a great job explaining.
Thank you!! That definitely makes sense - the recolor artwork tool in Illustrator is amazing 🤩 I think there’s just a misconception that you CAN’T change colors in photoshop, so I love learning more about ways you actually can. I’m totally with ya - having options is great, and it’s always good to learn new techniques!!
Hello! Thanks for the video, but you figured out how to change the colors of the motifs using a specific hexadecimal, for when the client asks for a specific color, I learned for solid color using color blending mode and clipping mask, but it doesn't stay exactly in color, since it's a blend, and it also doesn't seem practical to recolor an entire pattern, so I'm still looking for an easier way. If you know, I'd love some help. Thanks.
Just finished going through all of your tutorials in this playlist. Excellent work, Sarah! You explain it so well, highlighting all the relevant stuff as well. Sometimes, questions were coming up my mind and you were already addressing the answers...ahahah amazing! Looking forward to starting making some patterns now. I'll be happy to share my progress with you. Thanks again, keep it up, Sarah! 🧡
I'm so grateful for your tutorials. I just watched this series through a 2nd time and took notes. Your videos are exceptionally good, as is the way you present details. Everything one needs to know, and more...but succinctly and to the point. I plan is to go through the full process with watercolors to Photoshop to hopefully Spoonflower in the not-too-distant future. When I get any designs up on Insta I will absolutely tag you :) Many many thanks for your generosity in making these tutorials and sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for these tutorials! I also did Immersion this year and have been following a similar path trying to learn how to use Photoshop to make watercolour designs, so this series has been so helpful, really appreciate it! Your work is beautiful and I hope you get lots of great licensing deals woop!
Awww, thank you Lydia!! There’s something so lovely about raster designs, right?? I’m glad you found some value from these videos, and I wish you the same success!! 🙌🏼
I’ve really enjoyed these! I was wondering how you isolate the different background color from not bleeding through and changing the motif color when you’re using the multiply tool? Does it have to do with the layer order?
Super helpful Sarah. I wonder if that adjustment layer can be copy/pasted to use in another artwork that uses the same palette? Could be helpful so that the colours are consistent for a collection? I don’t have PS, but now you’re making me want to get the subscription 😂. Thank you again Sarah!
I’m pretty sure that is something you can do!! I totally agree- it’s a great way to maintain consistency. Haha PS is really great! It’s super powerful and I know there’s so much I still have to learn about it. It’s just amazing to figure out what you can do with it!
Thank you! Your explanations are direct and delightful!
