One of the greatest live performances ever committed to video. If the audio feed was this loud, you can imagine the sound levels in that studio. Off the charts!
Just because it is loud, doesn't mean it's good. J Mascis hated this Dinosaur Jr. line up. They were awful live as is evidenced here. I saw them numerous times around this period and they were rubbish.
I actually was thinking watching this that he sounds terrible. Not that he’s playing bad, more that he’s uncomfortable using the Les Paul with his setup. It seemed like he was having trouble getting it to work with the big muff.
Yeah...sounds "killer" until he bent the guitar totally out of tune as he launched into the first solo...and then had to aimlessly thrash at the guitar throughout the rest of the tune...
It sounds awful...how is it possible to get such an awful tone out of those p90's. Dinosaur Jr. were always a disaster live from my experience. It sounds like three people playing a different song from the other.
favourite bit of my favourite job was tech-speccing the insert tapes & then bringing them up to wembley in a cab, from one bit of limehouse to the other. hand them over to the VT op, then wander out into the studio & watch the show. sometimes get a cab back to highbury corner with TC. happy days.
Thanks terry saw this in 1992 been a fan ever since seen him loads of times since miss you on telly but i dont watch it anymore anyway since its all crap those days eh? just brilliant

@Ronald McDonaldtrump Lmao, no??? Wtf. That's not what that sounds like at all, his amplifier fucked up (probably a faulty power tube, happens all the time, especially old valve amps which is what he's playing through here), instrument cables don't partially unplug themselves from the guitar, either they're plugged in the input jack or they fall out (if you play guitar you should know this, there's this clunk when you plug the cable into the input jack, that's the cable being locked in, it's either locked in or itsn't at all), there is no inbetween (either the signal is sent further in the chain or it isn't, there is no such thing as the signal getting cut off by a cable that is "not plugged in all the way"), it's not a fucking USB, you knob. Next time you try to be a wise guy do some research or just don't say anything at all, because it's pretty obvious you know jack shit about guitars.

So weird seeing J play without a jazzmaster. Although, that Les Paul
Sounds killer
I know right.. I like that he chose one w/ p90s tho.. I like that he kept it single coil

@@michaelvarty-brownstein3977 the jazzmaster is much better for j mascis's usual bends and tremelo bar solo style

What on earth happened to the guitar solo? Can't even hear it?
He flailed the giitar on the first solo and lost all his tuning with 2+ minutes of song to go. 😂 @@henrymorgan4705

That’s who I thought it was!
No Jazzmaster. Hmmmm. Far raunchier than the studio work--and the studio work was quite raunchy.
Haha this clip is so amazing, what happend to his guitar?
So fucking punk rock!!!!
