I can enjoy that over the top gratuitous comedy if used well but from ass snorting coke scene after writing on the floor dribbling scene it got very tiresome and embarrassing. Very well acted and somewhat believable for the most part but it's a shame that the intended audience are those who enjoy watching bad porn after countless swearing in the middle of "Laugh at me because i'm so hiiiiggghhhh!!" scenes. Shock comedy only works when it's shocking. It stops being funny when you're expecting it to happen and if you continue to find it funny then this film is too clever for you. It isn't a terrible film, it's just that it's target audience is aimed at the kind of people to laugh at shitty, over the top, jokes and not the kind of people who get the message. That's just my opinion.

... And this video review was his opinion so why is mine any less valid just because it's not in video form? The reason I kept watching was because it's a scorsese film and most of his films are genious. After watching that scene it gives you a taste of the film sure but the taste has to be dealt out moderately or at least effectively, not just "I bet the viewers are bored of talking, play another sex scene!" I'm not even remotely jealous of the lead in this film. Besides, I did leave it as my opinion. It was the last thing I said. This video is his opinion and people agree and disagree with him. My review was my opinion and people will agree and disagree with me equally so.
Actually this film, like Goodfellas, starts out by showing us how awesome their lifestyles are and it's a fantasy land we all should want to be in, but as both films go on you begin to see just how broken and morally depraved these people are, how self-destructive their lifestyles are. You do not want to be those people, and both films do a great job showing you why.
The people that claim that this movie "glorifies all the wrong things" are the ones that can't see the point of the movie. It may not have a moral lesson, but if you need movies to know how to think or how to act, then you are the one who is fucked up. It is not a movie for people that like movies in which the victim is the hero, and you have to like the character and learn something from it to feel better about yourself. "What about the victims?" First of all, who are the victims? The victims are dumb greedy people who fell into the lame scam of Jordan. It is a literal representation of what really happened, it is not glorifying the inmoral acts, a depiction is not an endorsement.
Bill Tran You're supposed to think it's bad? FUCK GOOD AND BAD! THESE FUCKING, WORDS I HATE THESE TWO WORDS THAT HAVE NO RELEVANCE IN REALITY AND MODERN LITERATURE. I don't care if Jordan fucked over people, because those people were suckers. And I guarantee that all of us would do the same if we were in his shoes. Nobody is good or bad, their just human beings. This guy lived an awesome lifestyle, but it does show that one comes up, must come down. And his ambition makes you want to do what he did, and make you say "I want that".
I went into this movie, I had no clue what it was but my friends took me along to watch it. I was blown away by it, it was insanely funny and had a great pace. I was really surprised. Probably the best movie of '13.
I just watched the movie today for the first time. I don't think I liked the movie. However what I find interesting and slightly terrifying is that movie is based off a real life person named Jordan Belfort. According to him his life was more crazy than the movie was. It's also weird that many of things in the movie actually happened like crashing the yacht or paying a woman to shave her head.
Wow that's a lot of f bombs and it's not a movie I would ever watch again. I never said I liked it. I just said I found it interesting how it is based off a real person. Also I literally wrote that comment after I finished watching the movie so forgive the confusion.
It was vulgar to say it wasn't would be lying, but at the same time sometimes real life is vulgar. It just goes to show what type of person he was at that timeframe in life.
Leo DiCaprio is undoubtedly one of the best actors alive today. He was fantastic in this movie, and he has so many great works like Titanic, Inception, The Departed, etc. and he works very well with Scorsese. I guess if you're only into action filled movies you won't like this one that much, but if you dive into the universe of this story, its really something. Still, for me, even though I liked it, it wasn't life changing or anything, I give it 8/10.
Based off of this review, I feel Jeremy watched the film completely the wrong way and took the opposite message from it than Scorsese intended... You're not supposed to admire or be inspired by Jordan Belfort. You're supposed to pity him and be appalled by his unsympathetic techniques of making millions by sharing worthless stocks to innocent/naive victims to pay for his ridiculously lavish lifestyle. P.S. Game of Thrones isn't gratuitous. Almost every, little detail is relevant to the story. And if it's relevant to the story, it isn't gratuitous.
When Oliver Stone wrote and direct Wall Street he wanted to show the dark side of the industry... 20 years later he said 1000's of people have come up to him and told him they are in the business because of the movie.
I think you are being presumptuous to say that. This movie seems to have people assuming all sorts of things about this mans life and the director's message. Movies like any other art are up for interpretation. I personally thought it was just an entertaining story of a man's life. He was a crook and a drug addict but you can't say his life was boring and his story wasn't entertaining. If you want to think it was made so we can all pity this man or aspire to be him than that is your opinion. But who the hell are you to say that someone "watched the film completely the wrong way"?
Nope, I didn't see any message about doing drugs and defrauding people were bad. It's almost the other way around, "get high, make money, get rich, it's fun, fuck you if you don't have the balls". Even that scene where it shows the FBI guy looking around in a metro it's almost as if it's saying "look at this guy, do you wanna be like this guy?"
Scorsese has 4 absolute untouchable films which are classics. Mean Streets Taxi Driver Raging Bull Goodfellas Still his good films or average films are better than 95% of the films out there. Casino, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Aviator and Wolf of Wall street are all worth watching.
I'm definitely not a fan of Jonah Hill, but I applaud his efforts at trying *really* hard to not be typecast anymore. With him in this movie, and Moneyball, he's branched out.
Don't forget it's based on a true story. Jordan Belfort wrote a book about his life, Leonardo read it and approached Scorsese with the script and that's how it happened. Leo even had to hang out with Belfort to get a sense of how he is to portray him. If you noticed most of all the movies Leo does are based on true stories. Basketball diaries, Titanic, Romio and Juliette, the departed, wolf of wall street, the revenant, etc probably forgot a few.
Neither is The Departed, it's based off A film called infernal affairs with elements of whitey bulgers story, but if anything a character is inspired by a real person, but that's it.
This whole movie reminded me of 'Goodfellas': poor-turned-rich man being Liotta and DiCaprio, stock brokers equal gangsters, same narration, and finally their inevitable downfall and justice. Great, great movie. *begins chest beats and hums*
Even though I quite enjoyed the film I couldn't fully enjoy it because my girlfriend was mad about all the nudity and objectification of women. I know it's a movie but I do think they should have cut some scenes. I get the guy is a sex addict but it was way over the top.
This movie is one of the most thoroughly entertaining movies I've ever seen. Considering that it glorifies the life of a sleazy, contemptible scumbag, that's kind of a bad thing XD
Just one thing before you go see this: Do NOT go out and see this with your parents. It will be an awkward three hours. I agree, it's a great movie, while a bit overrated, it contained vivid and disturbing scenes. I get the point, but it was just overused.
"Goodfellas" is the best movie ever made, in my opinion. You expect this to be some normal ass gangster flick, and it totally is, but it totally surpasses your expectations a lot too. You did absolutely not expect a biopic to be this great and entertaining ever. And it feels effortless in some ways. As if it just came naturally...
To those saying it's "over the top": I really feel bad for you. You let less than 10 minutes of total duration and nudity distract you from a brilliant film. If you can just be mature about it and move your brain beyond that, it's fantastic. And even if you do think it's over the top, it was needed to paint an accurate description of the story. Storyline was awesome, fantastically written, and phenomenal performances. Best movie I've seen in years.
Rohith Kumar You're asking for a lot aren't you? Not only would he have to play the games all theway through, taking hours, but needs to reviews all the films that came out as well.
jermy was always into AC , he review AC 3 last year within Dec, so you get why i am asking , since he bought PS4 as well , , unless we ask for it , he might think people dont need the review
Fjolltzu Because the guy was a nut case, he was obsessed with women and drugs. It does have a good story line but with everything that he did is what also why it got a lot of hate. When this movie came out I suggested that my whole family and I go to the movies and see it but then my older brother told me what it was about so he suggested no. That was during Christmas. Later that summer I rented it from netflix and I thought it was crap. There's nothing wrong with Leo, its just what it was about.
Greg Wise I dont have a problem with movies about bad people or dark evil movies and thats why American Psycho is my favorite movie ever even though its not a real event
I don't think a lot of people know that this movie was adapted from an actaul persons life experiences. The nudity, sex, everything actually happened. Even DiCaprio was surprised.
daffodilZephyr They had so much money going into their accounts, what they spend money on didn't matter. When you have all the basic needs like home, food, clothes, gadgets and money to do normals things, They gets kind a bored and get the extreme things because they can. I totally understand that. But this movie was a little bit too extreme. Everything happened so fast so it seems like the only thing they did was to take drugs, stupid parties and so on. They did work and did normal stuff too. This movie made them look like they never actually worked and was serious.
i give every scene in this movie an A+,... well minus about 90% of the sex scenes, which are just there to be there and dont really add anything to the story, and that takes up about 40% of the movie. the only sex scene that isnt completely shallow is the last one with the wife. so i give this movie a 70/100. take out about 60% of the pointless sex scenes and you have yourself an enjoyable movie
I don't know about you guys, but I hated the movie. I stopped watching after a while. I don't know if the end of the movie redeems it, but it was just so... pointless. Hours and hours of this "omg look I'm so rich and so druged up" hype that I genuinly don't give a fuck about... It felt like a porno video in that there was no plot, but at least the porno movie has the redeeming quality of lasting 25 minutes. Loathed every minute I wasted on that couch, and I wish I had stopped watching at 15 minutes in when I got bored in the first place.
Personally I fuckin loved Jordan! The guy LIVED dammit! that's more than most of us shmucks can say. He lived a fast life with fast women, money out the wazoo, a company he built from the ground up with his best friends, he threw extravagant parties, got so fucked up he could speak audible sentences and woke up in the morning next the a smoking hot wife in a million dollar mansion with a helicopter a lambo and a yatche. I'm sorry but seeing this guy's life was never more motivation for me to get filthy fucking rich!
1985 Charles Barkley They were suckers, and you are an idiot who think theirs good and bad. I'm sorry to tell you that, these words have no meaning in reality. People like Jorden aren't just plain bad, their human beings, and so are we.
1985 Charles Barkley Yes I do agree with you to some degree but I still hate the words good or bad. I'd rather call Adolf Hitler a vile piece of shit. I'd call Jordan a Silver Tongued Bullshit Artist, but it's allot easier for people to draw these fake lines we've drawn in our head and label someone as good or bad. Truth, the world is ENTIRELY gray, their is no such thing as good or bad period. Nobody's a saint.
It's very funny, Di Caprio kills it (the scenes where is sells "pink sheets actions" and the one with the "lemon" is amazing), but it's gets repetitive and that repetitiviness gives you time to think if it's wrong or good to laugh about the things these people made. Best Di Caprio perfomance in his career, for me was it was really close and even better in some scenes to the perfomance of Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club. 7/10
Favorite Scorsese film? That's a tough one. Maybe The Departed or Shutter Island. I really liked this movie and enjoyed how it called out Wall Street for its absurdity and debauchery, however, 3 hours seemed too long. It felt like it dragged on a bit. Think it should've been cut for 2 to 2.5 hours.
I'm really glad I saw it once but I don't think I will watch again anytime soon. It's probably one of those, wait a year, pull it out of your shelf, dust it off. kind of movies.
Lewis C It's fantastic, so underrated. De Niro gives one of his top 5 best performances in it and it's message is just as important today as when it first came out.
Eventually someone got it.. I totally agree with comparisons to Wall Street, Pulp Fiction and American Psycho. and don't get me wrong - there is no copying of those three, far from that. It's the craft, the dialogue, quotability and pure awesomeness of Wolf... I watched this movie three times already and re-watched some fragments (like Matthew McConaughey's bit, Leo's speech on greed, or him pitching the stock to poor client) probably 57 times. Complete classic - this movie blown me away.
I absolutely loved this movie. Rarely do I have the urge to watch a movie more than once, but I could watch that movie several times and never get tired of it!
I have not seen Taxi Driver yet,(or Mean Streets) or most of the DiCaprio + Scorcese work, so as of yet my favorite is Raging Bull, with Goodfellas at an incredibly close second. Will hopefully update that after I get my Scorcese binge on.
I liked this movie, but I made the mistake of watching it with my mother.

3 Years later and i still don't get how leo didn't win an oscar for this movie.
I thought he would win one for Inception.
I was so sure he would have got the supporting actor oscar for Django
The dudes in the academy knew it so they gave him one from The Revenant, when in all honesty he should have won one fornThe Wolf.
Yes he definitely should have great performance one of my favs actually! He killed it like ushual
He deserves it . but Matthew deserved it more

@@legendsneverdie2591 1 year later and I still don’t understand how he didn’t win an Oscar for this movie
It is a literal representation of what really happened, it is not glorifying the inmoral acts, a depiction is not an endorsement.
who cares whether or not it glorifies all the wrong things,it wasnt done in a good way.just stack it up against GoodFellas, it had no soul!
I've never seen the movie, but I agree with your statement.
Damn I need to go see this ASAP.
just don't see it with your parents. i made that mistake
Devin E. lol
Devin E. My god why? I would've been so uncomfortable if I had to see it with my own parents.
Alexander Lancaster they actually asked me if i wanted to see it. it was pretty awkward...
Devin E. same here, worse is we saw it on christmas night
I watched it stoned, it was awesome
Plus his wife in this movie is Harley Quinn.
Oh my...
There is a priceless face only Jeremy could make to be found at 0:06.
12 Years a Slave, The Wolf of Wall Street, Gravity, the best films of 2013.
Good taste of movies! :)
u mean 2013
stolipuff7 Shhh... >_>
Indeed, Captain Philips was alot better than Gravity.

I went into this movie, I had no clue what it was but my friends took me along to watch it. I was blown away by it, it was insanely funny and had a great pace. I was really surprised. Probably the best movie of '13.
The only quotable line from this movie that I remember is "BENI FUCKING HANA!!!"
Yup, nothing else memorable
"Is all of this legal?"
"Absolutely fucking not..."
"You don't know shit about chop" ".....I'll chop that fucking credit card."
Alexis Hernandez Sell me this pen.
get a job at fucking mcdonalds!!!!!
Well now that was a intro!!!
Best intro ever.
Best movie of 2013!
Congrats Leo on your Golden Globe Win!
I didn't really like it, It was just so vulgar,
576 uses if the f word
WORLD RECORD!!!!
Wow that's a lot of f bombs and it's not a movie I would ever watch again. I never said I liked it. I just said I found it interesting how it is based off a real person. Also I literally wrote that comment after I finished watching the movie so forgive the confusion.
elijah hernandez It wasn't vulgar, just realistic, it wasn't sugar coated.
It was vulgar to say it wasn't would be lying, but at the same time sometimes real life is vulgar. It just goes to show what type of person he was at that timeframe in life.
sjrpride77 realistic? get the hell out. This is fiction up the ass.
For no reason that was the funniest intro ever.
Knew you would start off with that opening
The intro was amazing
This movie was, in one word : Awesome!
One of the best DiCaprio´s performances and one of the best Scorcese movies.
i'll go ahead and say it. J Jahns can rock a mean suit.
Best opening ever.
Lots of people here saying they hated it because of the sex....
I agree it was over the top... but other than that, Great film.
read the book, not over the top enough
Oh come on. That scene where Theon was having sex with Ros was completely unnecessary.
There is no "wrong way" to watch a movie. Movies are art, and the beautiful thing about art is that it can be interpreted in any way.
Scorsese has 4 absolute untouchable films which are classics.
Mean Streets
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Goodfellas
Still his good films or average films are better than 95% of the films out there. Casino, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Aviator and Wolf of Wall street are all worth watching.
You brought it onto yourself Jeremy. Now you HAVE to review American Psycho.
I'm definitely not a fan of Jonah Hill, but I applaud his efforts at trying *really* hard to not be typecast anymore. With him in this movie, and Moneyball, he's branched out.
He's a very talented actor, he just kept getting movies starring the fat funny guy.
Steeeeeeeeeeeve madden
Don't forget it's based on a true story. Jordan Belfort wrote a book about his life, Leonardo read it and approached Scorsese with the script and that's how it happened. Leo even had to hang out with Belfort to get a sense of how he is to portray him. If you noticed most of all the movies Leo does are based on true stories. Basketball diaries, Titanic, Romio and Juliette, the departed, wolf of wall street, the revenant, etc probably forgot a few.
Romeo and Juliet isn't based off a true story.
Neither is The Departed, it's based off A film called infernal affairs with elements of whitey bulgers story, but if anything a character is inspired by a real person, but that's it.
Catch me if you can Is though. Another really good movie by him.
Haha, Romeo and Juliet isn't a a real life story. Look for some other examples. But, I get the message in your comment.
If DiCaprio gets snubbed for the Oscar again, I'm organizing a riot.
How’d the riot go?
Best movie of 2013 hands down
This whole movie reminded me of 'Goodfellas': poor-turned-rich man being Liotta and DiCaprio, stock brokers equal gangsters, same narration, and finally their inevitable downfall and justice. Great, great movie. *begins chest beats and hums*
Even though I quite enjoyed the film I couldn't fully enjoy it because my girlfriend was mad about all the nudity and objectification of women. I know it's a movie but I do think they should have cut some scenes. I get the guy is a sex addict but it was way over the top.
your girlfriend is dumb.
hahaha have you read the book man? obvs not
Jules Winnfield Your dumb.
the book was great. I did noticed in the commercial that he is crashing a white Lamborghini but in the book its a white Mercedes.
ok but it's ok to have naked me in spartacus but it's not ok for women to be naked . double standards man i hate them
i wanna see it now
This movie is one of the most thoroughly entertaining movies I've ever seen. Considering that it glorifies the life of a sleazy, contemptible scumbag, that's kind of a bad thing XD
A lot of Scorsese's movies do that...
Breaking bad.
***** was ;good breaking )
***** ?thaw
***** !£%%£!
I was very sceptical about this movie and then my friend made me watch it and I fucking loved it
Just one thing before you go see this: Do NOT go out and see this with your parents. It will be an awkward three hours. I agree, it's a great movie, while a bit overrated, it contained vivid and disturbing scenes. I get the point, but it was just overused.
Too late hahahaha watched this with my mom. Worst thing to do
same here
Saw it with my Aunt. She gave me a hug afterwards and promised to buy me icecream. We both agreed it had great acting however :D
Saw it with the whole family, we all loved it.
i have made a mistake
Goodfellas is my favorite movie
+Seif El-Din Tarek It's my favourite Martin Scorsese movie :) But Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed, Shutter Island and Taxi Driver are awesome too!
+LoN3wOlF5tudi0s shutter island is a decent movie, but it's probably one of Martin Scorcesses worst films.
As if it just came naturally...
one of the best movies o the year
To those saying it's "over the top": I really feel bad for you. Best movie I've seen in years.
blakasaurus1 did you watch it with your mom
AC 4 Review! and GTA 5
Would you like a massage with that?
Jake Harrington i dont follow
Rohith Kumar You're asking for a lot aren't you? Not only would he have to play the games all theway through, taking hours, but needs to reviews all the films that came out as well.
jermy was always into AC , he review AC 3 last year within Dec, so you get why i am asking , since he bought PS4 as well , , unless we ask for it , he might think people dont need the review
Rohith Kumar But we don't NEED it really. Both have been out for a long time.
Jeremy you are definitely one of my top film critics I watch on youtube. Your awesome with your reviews keep it up!
I'll see the movie, just based on your entertaining review.
Why do people hate this movie ? Its one of my fav movies ever !
Fjolltzu wasn't american psycho based on a real thing tho?
Bernie Clavender No its based on a book
Taxi Driver is my favourite Scorsese film. For some sad reason I can relate to Travis Bickle.
seriously u helped a child prostatute
Of course. That's what I do as a rule.

I don't think a lot of people know that this movie was adapted from an actaul persons life experiences. The nudity, sex, everything actually happened. Even DiCaprio was surprised.
Everyone knows this.
Jason Adrian Surprising considering you've got people in the comments section thinking that certain scenes were unnecessary.
are you crazy? Of course they exaggerated a few scenes. this is hollywood.
I mean of course but at the same time these guys had SO MUCH MONEY, like they didnt even know how to spend it.
daffodilZephyr They had so much money going into their accounts, what they spend money on didn't matter.
Anyone else found the gay scene kinda funny?
Been watching your vids the whole day. So astonished as to how much your videos have improved! Well done, man!
***** In American Psycho, the acting of Christian Bale was far superior. Leo might deserve an Oscar, but not for this shit.
***** American Psycho was a shitty movie.
Come at me bitches.
Deathound9 if you compare 2 shits against on another, one shit will still win. American psycho wins.
***** Uhmmm..no The wolf of wallstreet was a great movie, while AP was a piece of shit.
Got it?
Deathound9 , assuming that you are a great fan of porn flicks, you are right.
this movie was good but so fucking long
I wish it was longer :)
Aaron Jennings hell no!!!
I think me and 19 other people agree ;)
Aaron Jennings The general public have been shown to be moronic time and time again.
Are you going to watch Her?
i can't wait to see that
Personally I fuckin loved Jordan!
You are the human error.
HAHA! Shmucks, I got that reference. You sneaky sneaky bitch.
will we get best video games of 2013 list? a bonus treat to ur sub-audience?
Your math is off, there is some Goodfellas in there.
The Departed. I love that movie.
oh shit new outfit for Christmas!
Am I the only one who laughed at the intro?...
That intro was hilarious lol good job :)
Thank God Leonardo DiCaprio got nominated for this! He better win! Same for Scorsese!
Casino , The Aviator , The Goodfellas , Shutter´s Island
I'm really glad I saw it once but I don't think I will watch again anytime soon. It's probably one of those, wait a year, pull it out of your shelf, dust it off. kind of movies.
The Dialogue and Writing is just so damn good that I've watched the movie multiple times already. It drags you back into it the whole time.
Most quoteable movie of all time is Monty Python's Holy Grail
"...and it is warm my friends"
My favorite scorsese movie is taxi driver, with raging bull and goodfellas coming in a close second and third.
This movie is DOGSHIT in my opinion
+rybrentmannftw check out mean streets - then youll have seen his best 4 films.
Lewis C I've seen mean streets. It is a great film, though I think king of comedy is his fourth best movie personally
rybrentmannftw shit King of Comedy, probably the most important scorsese film I have yet to see. Thanks for the reminder.
Also,I read that the original cut had 4 hours. I would like to see that, even if I completely understand the need to cut to 3.
I still haven't seen this movie. Hopefully I get the chance to watch it this weekend :)
Did you watch it 😂😂😂
@@Buffthebean ima watch it for the first time tonight 😂
I absolutely loved this movie. Rarely do I have the urge to watch a movie more than once, but I could watch that movie several times and never get tired of it!
THAT INTRO LOL
you're actually a pretty good impersonator jeremy, it's not the first time I see you do an impression and nail it
I have not seen Taxi Driver yet,(or Mean Streets) or most of the DiCaprio + Scorcese work, so as of yet my favorite is Raging Bull, with Goodfellas at an incredibly close second. Will hopefully update that after I get my Scorcese binge on.
