As an American I don't know much about cricket and I didn't even know that we were hosting the Cricket World Cup. I am an avid sports fan, however, and this kept showing up on my feed. Apparently, it's a very big deal in the world of cricket and a lot of people from India seem to be very happy about it. So kudos to Team USA!

And even if you hit it in the air, if it falls on the ground before crossing the boundary rope, it's 4 runs.
Even if a player stops it before crossing the boundary, you can run beetween the wickets to get 1 run, 2 runs, 3 runs etc.
It's just that easy my guy. There's tons of intricacies but the basics are very simple. I hope you enjoy the sport!

You need to watch more big games like Australia and England and other big nstions playing. Cricket is very interesting because of its various rules, strategies and approaches. It’s kinda like Warcraft that’s why you won’t see all the strategies, shots, bowling in one game. You have to play according to the conditions. By now you should have this awareness about the turf on which they okay. It’s like a plant they have to moisture or prepare it in a way where the behaviour changes, especially in the case of 5 day cricket. I know it sounds long but conditions and situations change over the days which requires adaptation. That version is about more than 200 years old. This shorter version is where they have compromised the game a little bit. I have seen the rules change and how the fielding restrictions favored the batsmen. You should check out the best bowlers of the past era and you will see they were magicians. also mindset plays a big role in cricket. In this case USA won because they were prepared, united and hungry whereas Pakistan were the finalalists in the last World Cup but ended up being messy and complacent. It’s a team game and that’s why a team like Australia are consistently successful. Welcome to the cricket club!

Unbelievable!! In all my years as a cricket fan (around 15yrs) from America, a rare breed indeed, I would never have predicted the USA to beat Pakistan. Of course their biggest upset of all time would take a super over to add to the drama, but a win is a win.
However… in a few days, they’re probably going to be annihilated by India.
As a huge fan of Team India, I’m torn over this. I suppose I’ll be happy either way.

As an American I have heard of cricket but never got around to watching it until now. I don’t know the rules, but it does not seem too complicated. I actually found it quite entertaining. Go USA!!!
Glad you enjoyed, cricket is an easy sport from the outside but it is very complicated sport with lots of elements.

Cricket basics are easier to pick up than you'd think. It's the subtleties you spend your life learning. Basically, if you're a baseball fan, and need that summer bat n' ball vibe in the off-season, Cricket is a great fix.

I visited a friend studying abroad in London a few years ago and we watched I think West Indies against Australia at the pub, and I was super into it. I could never figure out the scoring though. I'm a big cubbies fan, and there are obvious similarities to baseball, but I don't fully understand the game. Respect though. Gotta be super talented to be elite at a sport that is one of the most popular in the world. Congrats to our squad!
Check out Jomboy who explains it in Baseball terms in his video. Once you get the scoring you're more than halfway there. I'll try to give you a bit of help but he explains it better:
At 1:46 if you pause it, you'll see in the middle it says 125-5. That means Pakistan (who are batting first) have scored 125 runs with 5 outs. They get a maximum of 10 outs, best batters bat first so the more outs you get the worse the batters are.
Side note - in Australian broadcasts for whatever reason it's reversed so 5-125 instead. No one knows why, it's just the way it is.
On the left it has the batters names and the amount of runs they have scored, the number next to that is how many balls they faced.
Back to the middle you'll see 15.4. This is T20 so there is 20 overs. An over is 6 balls by one pitcher then you change your pitcher. They play one innings of 120 balls then swap over and whoever scores more wins.
To the right Jasdeep is bowling, he's got 0 outs and they've scored 36 off him, he's bowled for 2.4 overs. The numbers in the circles are how many runs they have scored per ball.
The run rate is just the amount of runs scored per over.

Be careful, my friend! My son and I (Americans with little cricket knowledge) got excited and drove 18 hours to the US v. Ireland game in Florida. The game was supposed to start at 10:30 AM. We sat in the Florida sunshine from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM and nothing ever happened! The game was cancelled, despite it being a beautiful day and them having a three hour window to play: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM (it started raining at 1:30). There seemed to be little sense of urgency about getting the field prepared or giving the fans a game. You and I are used to the grounds crew sprinting around to get the field ready after a rain delay. Driving to Florida were thinking about going to New York for a Round of 8 game, but we're not getting fooled twice. Cricket does not appear to be a fan-friendly game.
Such a shame! On Father’s Day I went to watch T20 at Hedingley Cricket Grounds in Leeds, England and had such a great time.

Each man that’s in the side that’s in the field goes out and when he’s out comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.
Sometimes there are men still in and not out.
There are men called umpires who stay out all the time, and they decide when the men who are in are out.
Depending on the weather and the light, the umpires can also send everybody in, no matter whether they’re in or out.
When both sides have been in and all the men are out (including those who are not out), then the game is finished.
Whoever has the most runs wins.
If this sports takes off in USA 🇺🇸. Watch-out world, because there are plenty of American Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan’s, British, Australian, etc..etc…and there are plenty of grass roots opportunities to develop this sport from middle school level, up to high school level, up to college level, and via junior then national leagues. Following the same format as National Baseball Leagues. And much less corruption here, so the real talent can flourish nationwide.
