In my opinion homestly, you shouldn't worry about being as big as Chaos Galaxy, or even Magic or Yugioh. Just focus on making the game fun and intersesting. That's what's most importaint. Not every card game is an instant hit. Just look at Hearthstone. When it was originally revealed, everyone thought it was a stupid idea for a game. Now, its ome of the most popular online card games in the world. In summary, focus on making tje game fun and intersesting, and don't focus on how successfull it will be comapred to these other games, that have gathered a large folloeing over the course of several years. I hope this helped.

Honestly, I'd try and stop comparing your game to others, there'll always be someone more successful especially when youre starting out. Just make it for yourself and because you want to! I made my game at first with just me, my brother and 2 cousins playing and i enjoyed as much as i do now, so i dont think you should get over the mentality, just try and not think about it at all!

The card game I'm currently designing has a few archetypes as of now. And naming them always comes down to, usually, their abilities. The world of my game is fantasy mixed with futuristic technology, and the epitome of this concept are the Echo Knights. When you play them, they search for copies of themselves that are then weakened once they are on the field. They aren't creatures themselves, but merely reflections. When it comes to designing archetypes themselves, the abilities and such, I usually have a few creatures that have a similar ability, one boss monster that utilizes that ability to its fullest potential to pull out the win, and a number of support cards that keep the decks they're in consistent.
I started making tcgs from yu gi oh then decided to make my own and your vid from 4 years ago really helped me, but I never made cards for money I just want to make my own game so I can play with my friends and that brought me enough joy just to see the thing I made is actually fun and playable, and I think this is the best thing to do, cuz making card games from scratch and hoping that it’ll be famous is not gonna work and when that expectation doesn’t happen you get sad and not want to do it anymore, so focus on making the game to play and not to sell, and have fun making them, and exaggerate the characters, like make cards that are SUPER LEGENDARY AND MYTHICAL WITH 10000 ATK AND 10000 DEFENSE and only keep it as that one card that destroys all and makes your opponent go NANI??? And I think this is where the most fun is in making tcgs
Pro advice, just do it like in Yu-Gi-Oh! for most of the deck-ideas: Just take two topics, that have nothing to do with each other and then make every card name of the deck a pun of words from both topics, e.g. MechaPhantombeasts are combinations of airplanes and beasts, the dinowrestlers and gemknights are selfexplanatory, Gouki were demons, who were also wrestlers, dinomists were dinosaur-themed steam machines, predaplants were combinations of carnivorous plants and beasts, fur hires were furries who were also mercenaries, and so on ...

Good question - I think that’s a good thing tbh! The simplicity of the design doesn’t really mean anything as long as all the cards in the game follow that style, eg: a powerful Pokémon card will look super simple compared to a weak Magic the Gathering card but because ALL Pokémon cards look pretty simple, it won’t matter! Just as long as all the cards in your game match that style (Hope that makes sense)

There are free, downloadable pdfs of the zones on the game crafter (they come with starter decks) unfortunatly it would be too pricey to print and ship them but theyre quite easy to make at home!
The issue I'm having currently is that I have several mechanics down yet do not have a theme to wrap around them, which to me feels more difficult than creating in reverse.
I was randomly doodling my arts that might be or not be in my trading card game. I have this sort of idea of post-apocalyptic fantasy to see whatever fits and I do have a lore in my head how the post-apocalyptic started while people are looking for magical artifacts and... I make it up as go is that bad?

That would be really cool, although i kind of try to stay away from 'earthly' creatures and want to focus on more alien things in chaos galaxy, i'll definitely have a think about dinos tho!
I'm at the top my card games about how the god of this world was dying so he used the rest of his powers to make mini gods based of the elements and science every little god wanted to there own thing they started fighting and they created there own planets to battle on and fight using there own creatures but the war escalated to where there worlds had meltdowns fusing there worlds into a massive planet called infinatros where they would all fight and coextist
Love creating lore and archetypes for games, it's so satisfying when everything flows together so well
