Every Shinedown song gets me up (well, once I started being able to walk a little again). Now Shinedown songs that make cry is a pretty big list because of the raw emotion and moments in time that I was going through when I first heard them Second Chance, Daylight, Fly From the Inside, Call Me, Misfits, Diamond Eyes, If You Only Knew, Kill Your Conscience, Symptom Of Being Human, What a Shame, Monsters, and so many more. Everything you guys have ever put out has meant different things to me, but Get Up takes my breath away everytime, because I have literally lived the lines, "If you're ever in doubt, don't sell yourself short, you might be bullet proof. It's hard move mountains when your paralyzed, but you gotta try." I started getting sick a couple of years ago, and thanks to not being diagnosed properly and then delayed diagnosis, I literally became paralyzed, with in a few months. I was in the hospital for the first of many stays, surgeries, blood transfusions, access ports, and so many other things. The first thing I remember was hearing my sweet husband's panicked and worried voice. The second thing I remember was those lyrics from Get Up. I was so far gone that I couldn't tell you the song or sadly that it was you guys. As one of my closests friends said to me later, "You were actively dying" In that moment of realizing that I was still in the world, I didn't realize how far gone I was. Getting to the new normal is challenging every day, but my sweet hubby and your music has literally been therapy for my mental health. Thankfully, I am far better, but I will never be the way I was before I got sick, but you best believe that the last three Shinedown shows we have been to, I was trying my best to rock out... just from my wheelchair! 🤩 I will be 43 in June, which seemed so unlikely to happen then, but here I am... So thank you for doing what you do for your fans and sharing your talents with the world!

I've been in a wheelchair since Christmas 2014 and I've been through every step of the grief ladder for my former life that is gone. Music is amazing and the fact that it can communicate every emotion in the human heart just gets me. Music saved me and I am eternally grateful every time I'm guided to a different band and a new sound that lifts me out of that dark space, but Shinedown just gets us. They are able to put all of our fears and traumas out there into the world and let us all know that we are not alone in our struggles. I wish you peace and pray that the love you and your husband have for each other grows more each day than the day before 🫶

The world is still going to happen around us and to us, but it doesn't have to dictate the journey or how we deal with it. Before the stuff started with the newest battle, I was in a near fatal accident in 2006. I was wheelchair bound for over a year after the initial accident. I still deal with that since the moment it happened. I have had 14 surgeries from the knee down on my right and each time I am a "roller" as I say, for a while. I had other major surgeries for all of it, but I am still here. I lost my Mom a month and half after my accident (still was "roller" from the first stuff). I had lost my Dad three years prior (he was wheelchair bound with a rare type of multiple sclerosis). I am only child. I didn't meet my hubby until 2009 (15 years this month and 14th anniversary next month). I had to figure out the new life and living alone with major disabilities. Even back then, Shinedown kinda became one of my therapys (along with my furry babies). Their words, overtime , helped me be okay with what was happening and start filling my soul with appreciation of what I still have. They are definitely the best band in the world and definitely four of the best humans you could ever ask for. I pray that your journey goes well and that people look to it as a guiding light that refuses to give up!

It is difficult. Each song speaks a different truth to me. Joy, hope, sadness, anger, desperation, love. You help me express what I can't myself, or at least not out loud. Each has a place that is important.
