Put Merchants Into a Coma and Steal All They Have (doesn't work on honour mode) - Baldur's Gate 3

In this video, I'll show you an easy trick that allows you to pickpocket merchants anywhere, even in crowded spaces with many other NPC's nearby, with absolutely zero risk. You'll cast Feign Death to put the merchant in a nice little coma, and then follow it with Fog Cloud to make sure no one can see anything you do. Just make sure to refresh both spells once in a while because if either expire, your pickpocket attempts might be seen. #baldursgate3

This is much easier if you just give them money. You only need to give them 900 gold in my experience. Once they are green just steal all the money back. I find it more efficient to do it this way. Also if the merchant sells camp supplies you essentially get infinite money. After you take everything you want just go rest. The merchant will be reset and you can just keep taking their money.

Make sure to do this in turn-based mode to conserve spell slots. Also, taking a long rest or leveling up refreshes the vendor's inventory.

You can just heal the poor sap with selune's dream to give them sleep, not like you're gonna use that on yourself. Later on you can use scrolls for the feign death and obscure vision when needed since you likely will have better stuff in scrolls to actually use in combat. Often even minor illusion allows you to steer prying eyes away for you to steal or pickpocket so no resources are needed at all.

Go into turn based mode and steal, you won’t waste so many turns and have to refresh Feign Death as much.

Go into turn based mode, have the entire party loot them going for the easiest items first; once they've failed move onto the next PC and try again, once all have failed end turn and repeat to conserve spell slots. I wonder if hold person would make it easier to succeed.

In most games, making an NPC merchant happy involves giving him everything you own in life. Then he loves you.
Pretty sure thats how dating works as well, now that i think on it. 😁

enter combat mode and u can picpocket even when everyone sees you if the hide is sucesufull

Also you should be buffing your pickpocket with guidance and stealing in turn based mode.

Yknow you can just shapeshift, knock em out and clean em, right?

You can but specific NPC can still recognize through your shapeshift. Such as the cleric at Storm Barnacle, that guy literally can recognize the knocking. Once you rob him, it's done, the next time he will still remember you although you has already disguise yourself

Not anymore. If you knock em out, they don't have any of their store inventory - only their regular death inventory.

no, you can steal all that you want (at least from what ive seen)

You have to put the one casting feign death into turn based mode then the feign death lasts forever until you exit it. Then just use your other character that is separated to steal the goods until you have it all

Yeah, enter turn base and despite it saying you can only steal 1 you can actually just keep stealing until you close then open the window.

mkae sure you use hide so the pickpocket option shows up.

Go up to them while sneaking and press square, should see an option for pickpocket

I just looked it up and it doesn't look like it can, only the Fog spell, not the Feign Death spell. Bard is the opposite, it's got Feign Death but not Fog. But Bard also has Darkness, maybe it works the same? If so you'd have the whole package there.

Yeah. I did this several times a few months ago. But you need to check if any new update hasn’t patched this.
