I think the 45 second striking time is assuming you are striking the whole bead at the same time, so are rotating it in the flame for the whole 45 seconds. Not holding in one spot for 45 seconds. But that is just what I infer based on the Double helix video demo videos.
Agreed. I also think that Double Helix (Jed Hanney) makes bigger beads and needs extra time to strike. I think striking time is dependant on the size of the bead and (maybe?) density/volume of silver glass.😀
