This was a fantastic watch; really cool to hear about both of your perspectives on this for the first time! I find it just awesome to see so many people giving this humble puzzle a try regardless of how they approach the solve. I also appreciate the input from you guys on my tutorial video as well, it really helps me see how people try to learn my method so I can better improve the explanations for the future. The majority of solvers seem to have said that it feels quite different from most other twisty puzzles they've tried, and so I can see how it's super difficult to wrap your head around at first. But they've also said that it becomes super fun to speedsolve once it clicks, as it did for me when I was first developing my techniques. Overall I'm really happy to see others have been enjoying the experience, and hopefully more people can too!
I got one of these from you guys years ago! Neat to see it grow in popularity. I tried to learn it by myself but never got to solve it. This inspired me to do so!
I was determined to figure this out on my own and I’m glad to say that I did! I discovered a six piece, double three cycle involving four sides and was able to get down to only corners left after. I created one algorithm to swap the last two pieces on adjacent sides and it felt great since I’ve only ever made a couple on my own. To finish the corners was VERY tedious, but I solved it with no help and I loved it! I will not be solving it with my method going forward though as the corners at the end are extremely tedious and I can’t figure out a good algorithm to make it more efficient. I love cubing! Or in this case, octahedroning 😁🤦♂️
Personally I read Ben's text tutorial first and I took about a week to learn it. After that, Ben released his video tutorial and that helped clear up a few bits that confused me. About two months later I got my first sub30 single and one month after that I got my first (and only) sub30 average. I can't speak to anyone else's experience, but I didn't find Ben's tutorials hard to understand; I found the turning/behaviour of the puzzle hard to understand
Yeah, Bencisco method was too confusing for me, so I just used this method => - Solve Edges - Solve Vertices using Commutator - Solve Centers by cycling 3 of them (this is the part where the SuperAntoniovivaldi tutorial really helped me)
I really love figuring out how to solve puzzles on my own. That feeling you were talking about at 7:45 or so is definitely my thing. I loved figuring out the Super Ivy Cube, which I'm told is mechanically similar to the FTO, and I'm very excited about DianSheng's upcoming magnetic FTO. I've seen that you have the mf8 Master FTO for sale. Have you tried it out at all? I'd be interested to see a video comparing that with this, and maybe with the DianSheng too when it comes out.
How to tell a scrambled FTO from a CTO: a FTO can only have 4 colors on its every face, with its 4 faces having shuffled 4 colors and the other 4 faces with the remaining 4 colors
I bought this puzzle a long time ago.... Figured it out on my own like every other puzzle... but the hardware is really bad... Maybe guys could prototype one and make them like you did with the Angstrom Clock?
I really enjoy to see these speedcubers how they don't have idea about solving puzzles but only learning moves on top of their heads. Finding how to solve a puzzle is a goal not finding tutorial and memorize it and then to solve it fast. Anyways, it is just my opinion. Another great puzzle beside FTO is Master Skewb.
bla bla bla, bla bla bla The only really important thing that I heard here is that I can google the keywords 'Face Turning Octahedron' and find a good text tutorial. I don't care much about you guys, sorry

Ok now I’m laughing
😂
Rhett the Cuber why lol
You here to! That’s crazy 😂
Clumsy Cuber Its been getting popular in the last many months.
First, also TheCubicle should make a pro shop FTO because I heard that it’s really hard to setup! Just an idea 💡
No one cares ur first lolmao
But yeah that woud be a great idea!
I know it’s just cool to know that I am one of the first people to watch the video!
That would be a really good idea
Corner Twistz yeah ur right
Good idea every one like this so the cubicle can see thus!

It would be wonderful if more companies start working on developing FTOs
I'll be happy to see this as a new event
I can't wait for the GAN FTO
Diangsheng FTO M is out! Way to magnetic core/ballcore fto.

Nice video to revisit and watch again
The description on your website says its a 3x3 shape mod, which is incorrect, you should change that.

yes, it's not the tutorial it's the puzzle
where can i find the tutorial in text form?
As an FTO beginner you should check out the FTO tutorial of SuperAntoniovivaldi. You learn to solve it with sledgehammer, sune and one more alg.
Thanks, checking it out now.

Its like a skewb diamond but with 1 extra layer
i would call FTO the master skewb diamond instead
Needs to be Wca legal:FTO,Redi cube,Kilominx and others
Timers:Yj timer,Yuxin timer,qiyi timer,moyu timer
This is such a cool puzzle!!!
Interesting and relevant
4:04 does not make the slightest bit of sense to me lol 😂
I want to get an FTO so bad though
Lol
Hey, get a Diangsheng as it is launched recently
Hi Phil!
Will there be a 2.1 for C@H?
The next addition to the WCA events
Fto pog
Y eh
Please learn Bensisco Phil
Pls
I’ve had this puzzle for years. Within the last couple of weeks I have seen videos and post on it everywhere. Why the sudden resurgence?
Also dam phill is such a freaking rock star lol😎👻💪👊🚬💵💲💰🎸🎵🔥🌟
I’ll probably get the fto eventually, but I just received an $80 package yesterday
Bruh
The method I do:
Solve all dino edges, solve all triangles in one of the 2 orbits. Reduce all other pieces into bars. solve like pyraminx
What? Can you describe it more clearly?
I recently got one, pretty fun, kind of strange though. It never turns the way I need it to
YEEESSSS
Phil with the DRIP today
This is going to sell our like crazy now lol
I agree Phil, Benspuzzles' tutorial is extremely hard to understand
How to tell a scrambled FTO from a CTO: a FTO can only have 4 colors on its every face, with its 4 faces having shuffled 4 colors and the other 4 faces with the remaining 4 colors
Woah!
New video over the new puzzle?
There is out there a Jessie vs. DianSheng FTO with no help
Will you be making a premium setup of this puzzle?
Like mod it and set it up with lubes
Dammit now I will buy one
I literally saw this video 10 seconds after it was posted.
Oh you think you are slick
And?
@@cubiminx ikr i hate people that think they are so cool even tho they aren't
Clockgod11 yeah aggreed
Nice that's cool don't listen to mean people 😂

With good setup and the right modding this is very good puzzle
Right... Phil Yu
nice
Hi
Do the lanlan face turning octahedron
Fto
Why on Earth does he pronounce Bencisco as "Benkisco"? Does he also pronounce San Francisco as "San Frankisco"?
Why don’t they call it an octaminx. Megaminx isn’t called FTD for a reason.
Well, they need to differentiate it from the corner-turning octahedron
Andrew Tan Oops! I meant octaminx.
@Furry Catfish Fillet See? They changed names for a reason!
Octaminx is an octahedral shape mod of a pyraminx
did nobody else notice that phil is wearing sunglasses
Why not just call it an octaminx
You're not going to have fun with FTO on an old 10 year old method lol
@Kit Clement 😂
The face turning octahedron should have a better name.

EARLY SQUAD!!!!!!!!!!
Not really
@@HardPasta Okay
8 likes in 30 seconds
*That just sounds like a pyraminx with extra steps*
Ask GAN to make one of these which will turn well
...gRrr! Not that it matters... Recently, I can't access YT or Instagram either.
I guess the techno gods are telling me to update my phone.
