The Diansheng face-turning octahedron is one of the most anticipated puzzles this year so far. It's the first mass-produced magnetic FTO that we've seen, which is a big leap for the FTO community. However, none of us have solved an FTO before, so Jesse figured this would be a good chance to stretch those puzzle solving muscles and try to figure out how to solve the puzzle with no tutorials or walkthroughs.

Haven’t watching cubing videos in years. Went down a rabbit hole to find hardly anyone uploads anymore. So happy to see the Cubicle is, and to see you in the videos. Huge throwback for me, that’s probably just got me back into cubing again too. Thanks for this video. Really enjoyed it
Congrats on your first-time solve! I definitely remember learning that Rex Cube method way back in the day, and I'm pretty impressed that you managed to use it to solve the FTO despite the corner orientations and different perspective. Hope you guys continue to have fun with the puzzle!

Awesome to see someone trying to figure it out from a Rex or Super Ivy Cube perspective. I developed a method based on that point of view as well, using a Super Ivy Cube which I stickered to match the layout of an FTO while I wait for my DianSheng to arrive.
I will say this is harder than it looks

When can we get a mass produced icosahedral puzzle so we can have all the platonic solids?
I don't like any of them cuz all of them jumble

If so, I don't think you really know what jumbling is--the NxN cubes, Pyraminx, Megaminx, and FTO do not jumble by any stretch of the imagination.
If not, do we really not have an icosahedron that doesn't jumble yet?
@Thesnakerox icosahedral puzzles. I thought it was obvious
Edit: it's not really possible to have a normal-looking non-jumbling icosahedral puzzle
@@love2o9 I would argue that the Dogic doesn't jumble actually (and it's quite intuitive and easy according to those who own one).
Only issue with that one is only a handful exist in the world, and nobody mass produces them. I know some people are hoping a manufacturer gets on that some day though...

Very much been enjoying this puzzle, ordered it last week. Have had a couple of pretty bad pops but once you know how to turn it properly it's not an issue. Hopefully it gets added to the WCA soon!

Jesse was a huge inspiration for me to get into cubing back when I started, and it was for videos like this with Puzzlcrate!

I also figured out the FTO the first time i tried it
Took me just over an hour
Although i didnt do it as methodically as you
I just figured out how to solve a bunch of it intuitively then used sune and anti sune to solve the single triangles
Took me a lot of time to figure out! Solved it today and will soon learn to speed solve it too.

The algorithm has really been wanting me to watch this.
I'm excited! I can solve the Super Ivy Cube but have not been able to translate that to the FTO.
I managed to translate it by stickering my Super Ivy Cube to match the layout of an FTO. There's a video of my method in my channel if you're interested.
