I love the description of a 'a sad good time' reading a book as I know exactly what you mean and I think those are sometimes my favourite feelings when reading a book. That's when I know it's got me good.
Ooooh, I just added a bunch to my TBR! I love that you're talking about books that aren't talked about as often, and would love to hear your nonfiction favs as well!
i fucking loved fruiting bodies!! as someone who is not a fan of short stories, the author really had a way of capturing my attention. i really think it has to do with how raw and grotesque some of the descriptions were without it being overwhelming. i do gotta say the descriptions of mushrooms on a body made my skin crawl lol. i haven’t heard of one’s company, but it sounds good so i have added it to my list!
You really kicked off my non-fiction endeavors this year after recommending Trick Mirror! I have never read essays or nf in general but after that rec, I believe I read about 5 non fics in 2022! Thank you for being in this space and I hope you continue in 2023! 🎉
I've always enjoyed your recommendations and would love to see your nonfiction recs too! FRUITING BODIES IS SO GOOD. Your content is always great, take care❤🔥
that blush is BLUSHING!!! 😍 i would love knowing which one it is, if that’s okay with you of course! also, always love your recs, i have now 5+ new books on my TBR 😊
Please yes to the essay! I loved Fruiting Bodies so much and that story was definitely one I had a very strong emotional reaction to (I did to a lot of them) and so it would be so interesting to hear some more analytical thoughts about it since I’m completely incapable of it myself.
