I honestly can't remember the last time I actually, genuinely enjoyed someone's riffs in a gear review video. Everything I heard in this was delectable as all heck. Kudos, guys.
How is this page not more popular? everything here is gold.
Thanks Brother! Your vids helped me decide on Kiesel. Yesterday I picked up 2. One Aries multi scale 6 string maclean yellow with black limba neck from Jeff's private collection that he was kind enough to let go for me and an Aries 6 string floyd in Keisel green. Jeff took a break from his work and came out and we talked for some time. I have to say that I'm more than impressed with his attitude, knowledge and helpfullness. I seriously couldn't be happier with my purchases. After owning every axe under the sun over a 30 year period, these are some serious standouts and blow most everything out of the water. Thanks again for your help and these videos.
The playing alone sold me. Good job.
I feel like he showed the guitar off in a way younger djent fans and older rock fans would love. great job man
I swear I can listen to this song on repeat all day. All your stuff is awesome, something about this is just the best IMO.
great review...great playing.. love that guitar..GASSSSSSSSSSS for a V6 Vader.
Subbed
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
That song is massive
Over 9000
Signal chain please! Sounds great, but would also like to know what I'm hearing. I would recommend listing the signal chain in all future reviews as well
truly the best thing about these is that they are affordable, there are a bunch of headless 8 string guitars that are upwards of 3,000 all the way to 5,000 dollars.
While I realize that the original review (Carvin Vader vs Boden OS 7) is over a year old, it's probably worth a revisit. First, it's worth noting that the reason you don't have a lot of pickup choices is that Boden doesn't make its own pickups. Carvin has for nearly 70 years. Also worth noting is that there ARE multiscale versions of the Vader. Oh, and ever tried to lean a Boden against your amp while you take a break?
Really love the tone on this one
When the vader was first announced I thought it was the most hideous guitar that I've ever seen. Then I saw one with a quilted top and it instantly became beautiful!!!! I wish to own a carvin one day!
Epic freakin' intro and guitar solo at 0:55. Super sick dude.
Awesome review man! Can't wait to order my sevenstring Vader :) I'm still not sure about that 27 scale lenght yay or nay?
The Vader mask did it....subscribe!
Great demo and beautiful guitar.
Cool tone and sweet tune!
As a 6 string traditionalist I just cant get used to 7, 8 and 9 string guitars and this one with no head stock either ,nice playing though !!!!!
Friend I love the gear reviews. You got it going on. Keep it up 😉
Hey man ! I really dig your tunes and production, any chance you might have released material ? Thanks for the videos
i hated 7 strings until i heard you. That was incredible playing and the head swivel hilarious.
Tbone T Thanks dude, glad I was able to redeem 7 strings for you. It's not about how many strings, it's what you do with them!

great tone! what are the body, neck, fingerboard wood combinations? thanks very much
Fucking great riffing. Not even just for a demo. Hat's off man, shit is brutal \m/
can`t decide, what would fit my needs better. I`ve always been playing on 6 string guitar 25.5 uniform scale but realize that for 7 string guitar 27 is better, so that I have to choose between 27 and multiscale (25.5 to 27). I need shredding and heavy riffs as well. Can`t try both variants before buying
You can't go wrong either way but personally, I like 27 uniform AND I play E standard with 10s AND I have small hands AND I like to shred...
I also came from a 25.5 inch 6string (with 9s) and it takes just a tiny bit more stretching and a tiny bit more hand strength. I also love they way it sounds snappier so like I said, I like 27 inch flat.
thanks for sharing your experience! I also have small hands, and use 10s on 25.5 E standard right now. I think I`ll be able getting used to 7 string 27 scale as well!
Personally after getting my kiesel aries multiscale 7 string, I don't think I'd ever get another extended range guitar that wasn't multiscale. They barely even take getting used to, make chord extensions easier, shredding easier, while retaining that tight snappiness on the low end. It's not the end of the world though as I still play my agile 7 string flat 27" scale from time to time and like that guitar as well.
I thought this was Fluff djenting on a Kiesel then I look close and it's Trey without a hat 🤷♂️😜
Great review! Just wondering if you hear a big tonal difference between the Vader and like a Dc7 or any more traditional guitar and what you hear.
Thanks!
Thats some fuckin beautiful music
I like him.
cool review thx dude
Does anyone know how well these stay in tune? It would be nice if these had a Trans Trem bridge option.
so how exactly does chambered body affect the tone, feeling, etc? Haven`t found any local shops to try out. I know they are really loud by themselves and can be played like acoustic ones, but who cares
Hey Trey, I have a great ask for your consideration. . .oi, my mate Mark-o is a presenter up here in northern Queensland, precisely a town called Townsville (no joke. it's in Australia, erm, it's named after a guy named Towns, another trade-slaver, anyhow, I digress) - erm, he's done a few appearances around town in a precisely the same sith mask you're wearing here, oi, would you be technically able to move the thumbnail from that image, render the first frame might have a nice surprise oi? Anyway, it's not important, it's just a hourus question :)
I played one of these at Namm and loved it. Super comfortably and insanely light. The pickups are ridiculously good too. I wasn't using the strap though. It kinda looks like it might get in the way of the bridge/tuning pegs. Is that the case when you have it at the bottom strap peg?
Also, another question or two (sorry!). I'm interested in a multi scale, and like the minor multi scale that Chris Letchford uses. I saw you played one of the new Boden OS imports which looks similar to that (inch scale difference?). I sometimes have problems with fretting chords near the top of the neck and fingers not fitting comfortably and twang (might be the poopy ibanez neck i have...which is not a wizard...finger strength is pretty darn good). Does the multi scale/EndurNeck eliminate some of that stress? And how big of a transition is it from the Vader neck to the EndurNeck?
Thanks man and good work! Keep the vids coming!
As to your multi-scale question, the fanning on the OS 7 is 3/4"
Your tone is fucking massive! god dam
what guitar finish is that please i want to order
I play in that classical position but most of the time without a strap sitting, the way the bridge is it seems like it would be less comfortable than a strandberg and you have it suspended a bit higher with the strap, can you comment on the playing position comparison since you've played them both?
Prog Pogs I didn't notice the bridge making it uncomfortable at all. Maybe if you weren't wearing pants? The Strandberg has a cutaway specifically for that, so it sits on your right knee without the bridge touching your leg, and you can of course also sit it on your left knee like any other guitar, so it has more options for classical position, but I wouldn't let the bridge put you off from the Vader.
Gear Gods Thanks, I guess I'll have to start wearing pants.
Only when you play guitar, the rest of the time, who needs 'em?
why no tremolo on the vader v7?
Periphery intro :D
can you compare it to a strandber os? And do you think I (as a low budget student) shode get a strandberg or a Kisesel ? :)
Boden OS review coming very soon. They're both kickass guitars, but you could probably get the Vader for cheaper if you keep the specs basic.
Thanks man :)
How does the build quality of these compare to say an Ibanez Prestige? Is it about on par? Considerably lower? I'm pretty interested but I'm not sure if I should be cautious because it's made in Korea.
+Dylan Condy Kiesel/Carvin are Made in USA custom shop guitars ,they build guitars for 70 years in their California factory, they're family owned for 3 generations.
+greekfreak1980 I must've meant to comment on another video, I knew these were made in the US...I think I meant to comment on the Strandberg Boden OS video.
The OS are built pretty well built from everything I've read, you just don't get as nice of a finish/aesthetics compared to the other strandbergs.
So even with all confusion resolved and yoy were actually talking about a boden, kiesels destroy ibanez prestiges in quality. And I'm an ibanez guy. Love my sz320 and my iron label s series but my aries multiscale 7 stomps them in every way. Can't wait to a order my Vader v6 when I get my tax return.
1:18 looks like CGI 😂😂
Holy shit, old Trey was channelling Rob Chapman in the worst fucking way
I come here for glorious headbobs. stay for the riffage
do you ever play in a drop tuning?
Dennis sure, sometimes - peep this one: ruclips.net/video/KkH3CrOJJPY/видео.html
Gear Gods that's class, don't get me wrong, you write extremely well in standard too mate!
3:22 trey is a plane
Neck dive? Seriously? I've had a lot of different Headless Guitars (Strandberg Custom #9, Steinberger nearly all models except the doubleneck, hohner, and so on) and NONE had a neck dive issue. And I've never heard of a neck dive issue with headless guitars because that's a reason why they are headless.
So this is just wrong.
No headstock...no thanks jeff. Looks good and sounds decent though.

Gear Gods Btw Trey you are a freakin genius dude!
never mind just got to that part of the video I'm a goober
dude clean your fretboard, thats gross AF
I don't like you smeagol! Wanna play lead in my band?
Does anybody here thinks that kiesels are ugly as fuck? I really love how they sound but just cannot come in terms with the looks of them
I honestly don't know what you mean. Do you just not like guitars? you can get damn near anything from them...
Headless guitars don't look fantastic; they're headless! Take any super model and guess what posing headless will do for their career. The comfort from having a massive weight removed from the end of your guitar might be worth it though. There would be other significant advantages too.
So do you mean you don't like these Vader headless models or you don't like the looks of a Kiesel period? Sounds like you're painting with a very broad brush because like the other dude said, taking into consideration all the different models they make combined with more custom options than any other guitar manufacturer in the world, and at an accessible price, I don't know wtf you're talking about.
@Jake Bergen: I think what I stated is very clear. If you had trouble understanding however, I'll make it shorter - definitely "ugly as fuck" (quoting Kraken546), but comfort over looks still makes it a viable option. If you still feel a need to ask what I meant, then in my next reply I'll type slower for you!
