    Hi Bro,
The Caption, " Kampong Style Otak2 " reminds me of my visit to a premise along Ponggol Road ( not far from 17th Avenue ). It was between late 70s and 80s.
A couple of family members were busy preparing otak2. There were several basin of mashed fishes on the floor.
Details aside, the otak2 was yummy
and there were 2 versions only - spicy or plain.
It was the first time I saw otak2 being made and the sight, remains so clear in my mind.
I am thankful to you for, through your food adventures, I get to rewind my time clock and recollect those " yummy moments ! "

Just curious, why do you stay on in Spain if you don't like it? And what do you not like abt living in Spain? (don't worry, I'm not a Spanish! ). And why not move back to England then?

Roll on November!! I can't wait to get back to Sg. We stayed in Geylang a few years ago and tried otak otak from a few different stalls, but we never saw any brasa. Great video as ever Greg! Keep them coming.

braintransplantdonor thank you again! Where you hitting this time round?

I'm staying at the Parc Sovereign in Albert St this time. I managed to persuade Mrs braintransplantdonor to go to the UK instead of following me round Singapore grumbling at having to eat six times a day, so it will be just me, a full wallet, and two weeks of solid eating to look forward to. I may need to book two seats going home if I end up getting too fat!!
Parc Sov is handy for MRT and buses to get around, and the Albert & Tekka Centres are really close, so it's ideal for me since I can't walk too far these days. I'm planning to go to a few places I've never visited before - Tiong Bahru, ABC Brickworks, Serangoon Gardens, Bendemeer etc, but I'll certainly nip into the City Plaza after seeing the videos you did there a few months ago. I'll be revisiting all the old favourites like Chinatown Complex, Maxwell, People's Park, Hong Lim, Golden Mile, Old Airport Rd, Geylang Serai etc etc. and I might even fit in a bit of touristy stuff - it's about ten years since I went to the zoo and the Bird Park - but two weeks isn't really long enough to bother too much if I can't get there.

I'll be in Sg in November as well, for what must be my ninth or ten but I'm staying quite close to Little India. There's some great hawker food within spitting distance of my hotel; the Tekka Centre and the Albert Centre.

Went down yesterday to try the otak and loved the taste and texture. Found it a bit spicy but still acceptable. Price has increased so it's now $2 for 3. It's a new stall owner who took from Dec.

I finally realized “otah “ is the same as Thai’s fish cake! Difference is otah is steamed, Thai fish cake is fried apart from the different shapes of each!

Another great video📹 👍Greg. I've tried the otak b4. But I remembered it was super cheap but that was more than 6 years ago. I remember it was more yellowish more turmeric tasting and very gritty coz of the coconut. I'm tempted to try the rice and rendang. But at $15 for both it is a pretty expensive lunch

    IF 4pcs = $2 and 800pcs = $400 it's still $0.50 a pc, why bother putting up a price board?
