Ugh. Looking at ordering a new rig, and have no freaking idea which motor to run. Merc dealers everywhere... yamaha has the speed... zuki has the reliability. WHY CAN'T SUZUKI BE FAST!?
In reality (when prop'd correctly) the Zuk will only be AT MOST 2 or so mph slower then the Merc. It all depends on the boat too. A Zuk on a loaded Gambler will smoke a loaded Nitro or Ranger with Mercs to that fishing hole any day of the week.

How many people comment stuff like “just got my Suzukis and love them, or 100 hours and I love them, Etc.. The REALITY is that come back at 400 hours, or higher, and see. Those Yamahas are WAY more dependable. And virtually ANYWHERE you go you will have a Yamaha service center, and you will be trying to find someone to work on Suzuki’s. Also, in the resale market, (and everybody eventually finds themselves here, come on you know) the Suzuki’s KILL the resale value of your boat. So this is not to say that Suzukis are a POS, they aren’t, but you have to be real. The little bit of money you may save in the beginning…there’s a reason for that, it will come back and haunt you on the resale market. Think.
Small suzukis, 25-30hp (ish). Have you seen or heard from any longevity issues with the aluminum con-rods? I haven't heard anything, I am not trying to cast a doubt or smear. Just curious, as the use of aluminum conrods surprised me.
What about gauges. I have a 200ss with a C10 display. It works about 10% of the time. I have called 3 shops and they all say the same. C10 sucks and Suzuki hasn't fixed the issue.
As long as Suzuki doesn’t use there street bike technology they will be a 3rd class engine. The only way Suzuki could sell motors is to offer to dealers is to sell them engine at HP lower price. That being 250hp at 200 hp price. And so on down the list. Honda and Suzuki will never be close to the big two. When you have to under price your product to get it in market you have a big problem

Mercury will never be in trouble when it come to competition with Suzuki. Yamaha and Mercury spend more in R&D annually than Suzuki generates in annual sales. The outboard marine market is very competitive and Suzuki has VERY small US market share compared to Yamaha and Mercury. That's facts!
@@MrBash82 That's what GM and Ford said back in the day about Honda and Toyota! #facts
@@TeamMarineService I'm looking to order a blazer 625 and bring her to the north woods... I honestly want the new sho, but don't want to wait a year for it... the suzuki is far more interesting than the mercury to me
@@TeamMarineService you guys also said the best Zuk prop was a Scorpion, I think??
Great video, but, I have gone to probably 20-30 dealerships and have yet to see one that sells Suzuki. So for service, most will be hard pressed to find a dealer. Yamaha is has many more, something that IMHO is more important that aesthetics.
Weight wise the Suzuki is a lot heavier then the sho, but it is really really close
Meh 50 or so pounds!
Andy, you just have a man crush on Suzuki. No need to make these brand battles when Suzuki is included. We know who’s winning 😂
#1 reason why…reliability!
@@smallmouthcity Suzuki is not more reliable than Yamaha my last Yamaha f 225 v6 4 stroke did 20 years of offshore fishing and was still running fine you can't get any more reliable than that
Got a friend that has a charter business in Port St Joe Florida (inshore) and his Yamaha blew up within a month or so after his 3 year warranty ran out. Went out and bought a new Suzuki and has 0 regrets with it. Runs like a champ. If I were to buy a new boat I would request the Suzuki for sure.
I love the matte finish! I wish all the manufacturers would have this option. Sick of the shiny shit that looks 10 years old after the first season.
What, no price comparison?
whenever i need to laugh and learn, i go to this channel lol
Appreciate ya Angel
@@TeamMarineService I think y’all should do a Blazer/Suzuki performance/speed test 👀👀👀👀👀
I haven't seen one single Suzuki outboard on Lake Guntersville yet when I'm out fishing. Maybe in a few more years. Do see more of them now down in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area. But Yamaha is still by far and away the outboard of choice for that area also. I'm still running my '89 Merc 135 double smoker! Powerhead replaced in '06, so probably getting ready for a rebuild shortly. 😁
SHO and Merc are neck and neck on G'ville. That new Merc seems to be taking the lead slowly though
Why not a cost comparison, and mention the price ???
The cost varies wildly depending on dealer. We are a Suzuki dealer and could sell new 250SS' for multiple thousands under under the average MSRP.
Think.
Please make a video on shadow bass boats
Yamaha by land, Suzuki by sea!
100%
Truth
👍🏻👍🏻
Yamaha flyin by suzuki high and dry
Yeah but where does Evinrude fit in between these two? 🥴🥴🥴
I appreciate the comparison but could do without all the theatrics. But that's just me.
We gotta have fun! lol
Keep it up. Love the content. 👍
Small suzukis, 25-30hp (ish). Have you seen or heard from any longevity issues with the aluminum con-rods?
I haven't heard anything, I am not trying to cast a doubt or smear. Just curious, as the use of aluminum conrods surprised me.
I will follow you into the mist of Avalon Andy...
Riding majestic, translucent steeds shooting flaming arrows across the bridge of Hemdale
You forgot cost.
Initial cost, (like the price on a new boat on the lot)
And repower cost.
Glad I'm still running a 2 stroke 25 years and still kickin'
Just lost my Mariner 225EFI after 26 years, re-powering with Suzuki 250SS
What about gauges. I have a 200ss with a C10 display. It works about 10% of the time. I have called 3 shops and they all say the same. C10 sucks and Suzuki hasn't fixed the issue.
As long as Suzuki doesn’t use there street bike technology they will be a 3rd class engine. The only way Suzuki could sell motors is to offer to dealers is to sell them engine at HP lower price. That being 250hp at 200 hp price. And so on down the list. Honda and Suzuki will never be close to the big two. When you have to under price your product to get it in market you have a big problem
LOL! Suzuki- Hold my beer.
When stock, none will give you more speed and torque than my AMERICAN MADE Mercury!!!! And when I finally get it back from the shop after the motor mount boats backing out of it with only 20 hours on the engine I’ll prove it!! 😂 For real though, Mercury got the speed and torque part down. My next boat will have a Yahama on it,
Hahaha Yes Mercury does have the speed part down.
Lol won't touch a yammy hammer!
Hi, I alredy have Suzuki df20, i had a lot of thinhs in my mind what i have to choice and... first - in the same money Suzuki is on efi, Yamaha on normal carbulator, thanks for movie and showed if everybody pay only for brand not for quality ::D
What about the price comparison between the two?
17,000 for 200 sho flash to whatever you want up to 343hp for 600 bucks.
There is no way susucky is even on the same planet as Yamaha
Same planet and made in the same country! 😉
cant touch the mercury v8 four stroke, blows both of these out of the water in relation to low down torque.. displacement and cylinder count
🤔🤔🤔 Well, do you think a short stroke small piston v8 will produce more low end torque then a long stroke, large piston v6?
You probably have never driven an inline 6 diesel. An inline 6 engine with the same displacement V8, the inline 6 with produce more torque.
Price & Weight missed.
They're are both close, the Suzuki is cheaper and the yamaha weighs less
@@TeamMarineService thank you TMS, great video.
🤣 oh man 0:39 is so good!
I want to trade my merc 150 for a slowzuki 150
Suzuki needs to enlarge their dealer network in my area. Merc dominates in my area. That's a huge factor as much as I like Suzuki.
True, they are working on it slowly but surely!
Yamaha... All the way...
The INTRO was PRICELESS !!
Given that the Yamaha F150 is a top seller, I’d love to see a review against the new 2022 Suzuki DF150AP against the Yamaha 150. Big changes this year.
I don't think that you can go wrong with either motor.
Sorry, 250SHO looks better for sure.
To each their own!
@@TeamMarineService I think both are great engine. Outboards have came a long way in reliability.
suzuki cam chain is a joke, singel bicycle thingy, and the chain tensioner fail on many of them, im talking about 4 stroke 250, 300
Very interesting, We haven't seen any of these issues yet. Where ya located at Doger?
150ss vs 150vmax vs 150proxs!
If you mentioned cost, I missed it. Pay a LOT more for Yamaha.
Because they are better 😂
@johnboy5167 Not so sure anymore, a lot are switching to Suzuki because of cost and better warranty. I go to Florida every year to fish and I'm seeing more and more Suzuki. I'm not bashing Yamaha, I know they're great but does the extra cost justify it?
