- Hi friends! I felt like it was time for a vlog. In this video, I will be reading The September House by Carissa Orlando, Made For You by Jenna Satterthwaite, and Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle. I do my best to talk about the books in a way that gives you enough information to decide whether or not you want to read it, without spoiling it for you. Have you read any of these yet? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!

I really liked how you described the book and put your rating on the screen when you were walking through the bookstore! I never seen a booktuber do that
Thanks so much!! ❤️🙌🏻
I love seeing different angles of your house (not to be weird!!)- it’s so bright, stylish, energetic but still so cozy? It feels like an artist studio. I’m obsessed with the arches to your dining space or whatever. What a cute place. I also agree with another commenter that it was a great idea to pop up your ratings/bullet summaries of read books! I’m not usually into “book shopping vlogs” but your addition of that pop up in the edit was way more fun
Awe thank you so much! I’m not usually into book shopping vlogs either. I thought adding some extra recs in there might be helpful. Glad to know it was appreciated! ❤️
I love the way you filmed the book shopping clips with showing your reviews on screen!! That was so creative and awesome!! ❤
Thanks gabby!!! I had fun with that bit.
Heck yes, I also loved Bury Your Gays!!! One of my favorite books of the year for sure ☺️
Ooh yay! I haven’t heard many reviews of it yet. So good to hear! 🥰🙌🏻
I am so glad you liked the stickers and decals! ❤ I just finished the September house yesterday, I waited 6 months for September to start to read it. I completely agree with your thoughts on it!
Thanks again! Love the stickers! 🙌🏻❤️
I just finished Bury Your Gays and gave it five stars. I also loved Camp Damascus. I'm glad you're feeling better.
Awesome! ❤️🙌🏻 And thank you ☺️
The stickers are so cute 😭🥰
Yes!!!
I read September House last year the week it came out, and I've been thinking about it ever since, I love it so much!
Agree!! I know it’s got such mixed reviews but last year I hunted down a copy immediately and I def still think about it.
I’m so glad! It’s definitely doing something different, which I can appreciate. ❤️
I’ll be reading The September House this month! Looking forward to it more now.
Awesome! Can’t wait to these your thoughts on it.
I have been suffering through the first 50 pages of The September House 😂 I am so happy there's a little more deepness to it bc I almost dnf'd before watching this but now im giving it to the halfway mark lol 🙃
Hopefully it turns around for you too! ❤️🙌🏻

Oh shit! I am listening to the Rabbits podcast right now...there's a book??? Damn, I might have to just skip the rest of the podcast and read it instead! Also I am so glad to hear that I am not the only person who does not crave pasta. Not trying to pick any fights here, but there are so many other superior carbs, ha! Anyway, September House. I really loved it. although I had forgotten much of the plot until just now. I remember thinking that the haunted house metaphor and those abusive behaviors/dynamics felt a little heavy-handed and now I am not sure why I thought that, especially since I have been in that situation myself. Minus the haunted house, but yeah, the following the rules, the walking on eggshells, all of that. Maybe the thing was it hit *too* close to home for me.
P.S. I loved your two camera set up, I thought it was really different and very cool!
Yes, there’s a book! How’s the podcast? I wonder which is the preferred way to consume them, podcast first, or book first?
lol. Exactly (with the pasta) if I’m going to eat carbs let it be fried! 😋
I can understand how the abusive behaviors etc in September House could have felt heavy-handed, for sure. There’s a quality to the story though that feels almost impossible to adequately articulate. I can’t put my finger on why it feels so different.
And thank you so much! I’m experimenting. 🥰
I'm curious about Long Weekend, I'll have to check it out! For an unsettling island-set thriller, I'd recommend the new release Look in the Mirror by Catherine Steadman... don't read the synopsis, go in blind! 😳 though I will say... set in a lavish house in the British Virgin Islands 🏝
Ooh! Love The Virgin Islands!
I can’t imagine never craving pasta. I always crave pasta. 😅
lol. I crave fried things. And sweets!
I read Made From You from the library.. it is a small paperback so a shorter audiobook makes sense.
Good to know!
I loved The September House. Not what I was expecting. I believe the author is a psychologist .. or at least studied psych? I can tell. I annotated so much of that book. My only critique is that a certain line/phrase was said twice, but I'm not sure if it was an accident or intentional .. like if it was repeated later for emphasis.
i grew up in Dallas and the half price books there has RUINED me. we have an okay one where I live now but there's something about that GIANT one on NW highway that just hits different.
lol. 💯 The NW highway one is superior!
@@ReadingWryly it’s SO good
oh! another recent read.. a thriller set on an island with celebrities.. The Club by Ellery Lloyd. 🏝 I'd imagine if people were disappointed in The Fury by Alex Michaelides, they may like this one... and no "breaking the 4th wall BS" 😊
That one sounds familiar. I’ll look it up. Thanks!
I read Made For You recently ... not sure why they put a spoiler right on the front of the book.. it says "she was made for him.... now he's dead,".. or something like that.. but halfway through the book he's still only missing! they should have put "...now he's missing" on the front. Nit-picky maybe but it bothers me lol
I didn’t feel like that was a spoiler, but I can see how that could bother you.
