Airports all over the world have reduced their operations to a bare minimum.
Frankfurt Airport reports a 95% decrease in air traffic, and it will take years until the number of aircraft movements across Frankfurt’s runways once again reaches the daily average of 1400 takeoffs and landings.
To ease the withdrawal symptoms true airport aficionados must be experiencing right now, PilotsEYE.tv dug a very special long-term recording out of its archives and re-mastered the footage at own expense for its viewers to enjoy online:
18 hours of sights and sounds from a single, and for regular airport visitors unreachable, point of view - as if looking down from Frankfurt tower onto the runways and airport ramp through an open window. Recorded from the height of 60 meters, the footage was shot in Ultra-HD quality and surround sound to further enhance the viewer’s immersion.
The ambient sound is composed of turbine and engine noise, and signals, even the metallic clanging of an empty baggage cart can be picked out in the distance. A true airport soundscape that surrounds the viewer and lifts the spirits of every airport and aviation fan. And for airport workers confined to their homes in these troubled times, the footage will bring a special kind of solace: business as usual at their beloved workplace.
The recording begins with the start of flight operations - and a phenomenal sea of lights - at 5 am and ends with the last scheduled landing at 11 pm. The video player allows the viewer to manually skip to every full hour, for example to see what would be happening at the time of viewing.
“Of course, nobody would be staring out the window for all that time, but just the authentic sounds recreate that perfect feeling of home, vacation, or cherished place of work. It’s Aviation Ambience, pure and simple. 18 Stunden Frankfurt Airport im Hochbetrieb - ein Zeitdokument
Die Corona-Krise macht erfinderisch und wahre Aviation-Fans glücklich.
Weltweit haben alle Flughäfen ihren Betrieb auf ein Minimum reduziert - Frankfurt meldet 95% weniger Verkehr - und es wird noch Jahre dauern, bis die Menge der Flugbewegungen wieder an das alte Niveau von 1400 Starts und Landungen täglich heranreicht.
Um die Entzugserscheinungen echter Flughafen-Fans zu lindern, hat PilotsEYE.tv eine spezielle Langzeitaufnahme aus dem Archiv geholt und in vielen Stunden auf eigene Kosten neu aufbereitet.

Zu sehen und zu hören sind 18 Stunden aus einer einzigen - für normale Besucher unerreichbaren - Perspektive, die wie ein geöffnetes Fenster vom Tower zum Flughafenvorfeld wirkt.
Im Bildausschnitt sind im Hintergrund die beiden Südbahnen (25L/C) zu erkennen, die Abfertigung von Flugzeugen im mittleren Teil und direkt unter der Kamera rollen die angekommenen und abfliegenden Maschinen mit lautem Getöse hindurch.
Wechselnde Wetterverhältnisse sorgen zudem für zusätzliche Abwechslung.
Selbst das metallische Klappern eines leeren Gepäckwagens in weiter Ferne kann noch zugeordnet werden. Die Geräuschkulisse besteht aus Turbinen, Motoren und Signalen. Sie erfüllen den gesamten Raum und beflügeln

Wow - this flight over the tower of EDDM was stunning to see! Thank you very much for it! In the year of 1992 as this airport has opened I had the pleasure and opportunity to visit the tower and the air-traffic control room and I felt me very honored to see these two things and the guys who are working there! Das stimmt! Gut erkannt. Bei einem Trailer ist das schon mal erlaubt, das Auge zu verwöhnen und von FRA gibt es leider keinen so schönen Anflug. Sideinfo - der ATC an dieser Stelle ist auch aus MUC - und ab dem ersten Schnitt kommt alles nur noch aus FRA.
Aber viel wichtiger in dem 18Std Film kommt _alles_ aus FRA. Versprochen.

@Captain Ben Hi Ben, natürlich ist unsere Planung auch vollkommen "on hold" - PilotsEYE.tv Flüge funktionieren nur, wenn es allen dabei gut geht. Wir besinnen uns zur Zeit auf viele Ideen, die während der "normalen Zeit" nicht umsetzbar waren. Eine davon ist die Veröffentlichung des Fratowers, bei dem wir den Frankfurter Apron und die beiden Landebahnen 25L/25C für einen ganzen Tag in 4K aufgenommen haben. Vielleicht hilft das ein wenig über die Runden. Wie gefällt das Dir? fratower.pilotseye.tv

Die Aufnahme stammt also vom 15. Oktober 2019? Obwohl es im Video steht, bezweife ich dies gerade (leider).

@@PilotsEye Am 15. Oktober 2019 bin ich von Frankfurt aus nach Abu Dhabi (bzw. weiter nach Tokyo) geflogen. Um 11:32 standen wir in einer Etihad 787-9 einige Minuten genau im Blickfeld der Kamera (vor dem mittleren Gebäude hinter dem Terminal) während im Hintergrund eine Lufthansa A380 auf der 25C gestartet ist. Am Himmel waren auch deutlich weniger Wolken. Die Aufnahme wurde um 5 Uhr gestartet, demnach müsste man bei Minute 06:32:00 die besagte Etihad 787 sehen (habe natürlich auch vorher und nachher gesucht). Doch dies ist nicht der Fall.
Trotzdem ist die Aufnahme super gelungen und ich habe bereits einige Stunden davon genossen. :)
