  • A day late, and a little bit of a different video this week! I went to a CPKC Holiday Train free public event and decided to use it as a learning opportunity to video and edit. KT Tunstall and American Authors performed. I lost some footage, like of the train arriving (clumsy cold fingers must have pressed record twice or something), my camera battery died, my cell phone kept freezing... Lots and LOTS of lessons learned. I'll be back soon with 'normal' videos, in the meantime, happy holidays!
I believe this is, and intend this as, a Fair Use of my publically recorded material from a public city street. My video is not monetized, nor is there any intent to earn anything from this.
I used OpenShot Editor to create the video, Canva to create the text slides that are included.

How long did it take to edit this and about how much footage did you take?

I had 8 different video clips (including the two songs) but had wanted more. I couldn't really use a couple of them and some I realized only needed a little bit of them. I think editing was maybe 4-5 hours over a couple different days? I did some before Christmas and was hoping to get this up on Christmas day, but that didn't happen. The time includes looking for a song on youtube library, and making all the graphics on Canva (including downloading them, realizing I didn't like some parts, redoing them, redownloading etc.). A key thing is to have an idea in mind to start, make a story board, and identify what is needed - like the canva graphics. I didn't really do that for this and so will take that lesson for future.
