- When I am unsure if a product should stay in my stash I like to give it one last hurrah by trying it with different media to see if I still like it or would likely use it again. What do you think, should these stencils stay in my stash or go? The stencils I have are from Crafter's Companion but no longer available but you can find others quite affordable on Amazon: amzn.to/3Bm8wov
I tried different products with the stencils:
Acrylic paint: amzn.to/47Pf8rG
Embossing paste: amzn.to/3MZRmQ0 *you can use latex caulk as well!
Black embossing paste: amzn.to/3BjdSRv
Metallic building polished: amzn.to/3MX4i9o
Distress oxide spray inks: amzn.to/3ZEUqZn
Palette knives for paste: amzn.to/3BtI2RL
Stencil brushes: amzn.to/3zz9OMe

Yes, please to your question on whether we want to see videos of the cards you plan to make.
A real time cardmaking workshop with these prints would be fantastic!
This is fun - do more of using up the odd things we have in the art supply stash.
I'm going to need to live to age 130 to use all my supplies, thanks to a few RUclips enablers - ahem, not naming names. ♥
😆 sorry!
Hi Lindsay, Just got through Helene and now prepping for Milton (I live in a suburb of Tampa), and I took a mental health break to watch your video instead of watching hurricane updates. I appreciate the consistency and reliability of your YT videos...they provide a sense of comfort in this crazy world. Anyway, great tip about the latex caulk. Thank you!
Praying for all of you people in the Hurricane zone!! I have a grandson in the Tampa area. Worried grandpa here!!
Take care and stay safe!
@@jimflack9462 Hope your grandson is okay. All we can do is prepare and try not to panic. Thank you for your prayers!
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you! ❤
Love to see the card making video. So many ideas here. Thanks Lindsay.
You are so welcome!
Yes please post your cards! Great play session and thank you!🎉👍🏾💙🙏🏾 I tend to flip my stencil over and get another reverse image/negative space of the stencil… so much fun doing this as not to waste my paints.🎉
Will do!!
Wow. I don’t have any scene stencils. They really are lovely. My vote - Don’t throw them out. Thanks for the video. Your card making videos are always fun to craft along to. Hope this is turning out to be a better week for you.
Thank you so much!
Yes to more card making videos. Thanks Lindsay
You got it!
Hi Lindsay, I use a plastic dish bin with an inch or two of water to clean my stencils and embossing folders. I plop em in and let them soak a few moments til I reach a good point that I can stop and clean them. Stopping to clean right away runninf to the kitchen can mess with my creative flow.
I know- paper towels for watercolors or Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals are so pretty. Ink on scrap paper under a project is real pretty sometimes too.
I enjoy when you turn the camera on and forget it while you're having fun. I hope you do it more often. Thanks for sharing this sesh. I enjoy seeing you use older supplies. You seem more free with this kind of thing than when you're testing new products or teaching a technique; though I enjoy your tutorials a lot, it's great to see you do something just because it's fun.
I do the same thing. I make a pan of warm soapy water and drop in stencils and stamps that need cleaning.
@@susinok best thing, isn't it? I didn't realize how fast some mediums can dry on a stencil (never seem to dry that fast on our projects; that always takss ages lol), until I ruined part of one because a paste dried superfast. I didn't leave the stencil for a long time...maybe 5 minutes while I was finishing up that part on the project before I went to clean my stencil. It took around 2 hours for that same paste to dry on my project though. 🙄 I didn't use huge globs of it either.
Great ideas for using these stencils! And I ALWAYS want to see the card making videos!
Glad you like them!
@@thefrugalcrafter Me too 🙂
Yes! If I have to stop my crafting to go clean my tools I get so frustrated! I like things to flow while creating and then clean up afterwards.
Me too!!
Yes! I would like to see the cards. Thank you!
Coming soon!
I don't have any of these and I CERTAINLY don't need to buy anything else 😂, but I really enjoyed watching your thought process and use of techniques and mediums. Inspiring!
I enjoyed watching this. I've not used the sprays thru a stencil but it looks so interesting. And, your favorite is my favorite!
Thank you so much!
I love your new videos going back to Lindsay 1.0....I enjoy your painting videos but these videos really spark joy for me and yes, I would love to see the cards you'll make with these images.. It's only paper, haha
Glad you like them!
Definitely want to see the cards. This feels like classic Lindsay. Love it!
Yay, thank you!
Hello, Lindsay. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Your favourite one is my favourite too. Love the vibrant orange against the black background
I like the underpaper the most. Two iconic landmarks poster🎉
Wow! You were loaded with great ideas today. Fun and encouraging! I have a huge folder of stencils also and just can’t do them with out a smeary mess!
Of course I want to see cards made from the stencils. I buy the caulk in a tube from Dollar Tree and it does make good texture paste. It works in those little silicone molds that Modge Podge came out with a few yrs ago that I thought I had to have. Makes cute light weight embellishments for cards. Such a cool video! You rocked it!!❤
Thanks for the tip! I didn't think to try it in the molds!
This is a great time of year to donate art supplies, too.
All the stencil pictures you did are interesting and fun, but my favorite was yours also! I should use my stencils more often! Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!👏🤗
YES! Love it! Let playtime begin and then make a card! Lovely combo! ❤❤❤
Yay! Thank you!
Absolutely, I would love to see what you come up with!
Coming soon!
Yes, yes, yes! Please make cards from the stencil images! I love your card!❤
Thank you! Will do!
I bought quite a few of those Cosmic Shimmer jars, I have some of the Glitter Kiss and the Matt Chalk Polish and the Lustre which is the one you used I think. I bought it on clearance from the store Vaessen Creative in Europe and they were like RIDICULOUSLY cheap. I think they were getting rid of them because, yes they are a great product but a royal pain to stash in your craftroom. I have a whole cupboard dedicated to these while the Inkagolds take up so much less space in a little box. I do like them, and they are very pretty but as you said its a pain to clean up the sponges and I dont like how you cant pile them up and I am short of space. So will not be buying more when I finish them. But if you have them, do use them because they are very pretty as I said, the glitter ones are lovely for Xmas.
Well my vote is keep them all! It's amazing how gorgeous they all were. I don't make large cards, I know a lot of crafters like a 5x7 card size. And I would love to see how you would use these in making cards. :)
I'll share the card making too!
Would love to see what you create with these! They all look great 😊
Coming soon!
I also hate having to get up and clean things while I’m working, so much so that sometimes I just don’t bother creating because of it. It stinks! 😭
Also YES I want to see any cardmaking you do with these!! I love your cardmaking videos!! They inspire me to collage.
Ok!
Definitely enjoyed the play session! Always appreciate your videos.
Much appreciated!
Yes to the card making. I didn’t know those things existed. Beautiful work as always Lindsay Thank You.
You are so welcome!
Aww yes on the card making would be fabulous. Such a great video thanks for sharing with us all.
Oh this was so satisfying to watch. I wanted you to flip the city stencil so bad just to see what would happen. 🥰
I love the videos about the old products.
I do too! I just pulled out my 25 year old oil bars today and they still worked!
I love the he stencils used this way. I definitely would like to see cards made from this project. So fun, Lindsay!
Thanks so much!
Yes I would love to see the card making from the images!

Those stencils are very pretty. I would say keep them!
I think so too!
I really like those stencils and all the different effects you got with the various mediums. Would love to see a card making video with them!
Ok
I’m loving all of the trial and error and the fun in your creating. You’re such an inspiration for me as you explain to us to use our stuff and to just try it out to know if it’s for us. Yes please on making some cards with these backgrounds. It’ll be fun to see what you’re coming up with. Oh I have caulking and grout from our kitchen Reno!
I love these fun sessions, and yes, more card making videos, please.
You got it!
Loved this play session.. I love seeing your creative process..printing, cards, making backgrounds. Tyfs😎👍
Thanks so much!
That looked like fun! Aaah for a studio or space to play. I would love to see you make some cards with these.😊
Great idea!!
Yes yes yes to the card video
I love your stashes
Yes please let's see some cards with these
I had a tiny overpriced apartment in town ..no room for my extensive art supply collection...but I got engaged, moved to a beautiful home with a huge art studio with a picture window, and I feel guilty because it's disorganized, and I don't enjoy cleaning my creative space...I make big messes for months and clean everything when it gets out of control..I'm fortunate, and I often feel guilty for not being more meticulous. However, I don't waste to many supplies, or ruin brushes, but I often avoid supplies that will rein a brush or applicator...ugh
Those are awesome stencils!
You've given new ideas for my supplies. I have the Cosmic Shimmer, distress sprays, and a gel plate I never used! Time to play!
Have fun!
This turned out great ❤️
Hullo Lindsay, I do admire how you are so excited to use all of your supplies! You combine and put things to use that simply don’t occur to most people, well done! I have had quite a few studio spaces in my Art career, the one thing they ALL MUST HAVE is a sink with a good water supply! I did try one “loft space” because it was just so cheap and had floor to ceiling windows along one “wall” but no water outside of the bathroom. I lasted a year and ONLY because that was the length of the lease! Thank you for sharing your stencil review with us. I am wondering if you have decided that they are keepers because they did create some lovely art ideas or perhaps sparks for future ideas? Cards? Please feel free to show off any results you create. I am glad to watch you creating, well just about anything, but you know that I don’t spend much time on cards. Thank you for sharing and I do look forward to seeing your next video. 🥳
I think I'll keep them!
Maybe put a double stack of five gallon buckets in your basement. One with holes drilled through the bottom. Fill with water. When you need to clean something the bucket can function as a sink while the pigments fall to the bottom bucket. Functioning like an oil painters cleaner can. Also, just an idea; for survival prep (I love in tornado alley on the USA's largest earthquake fault, so we prepare year round for weather disasters so we don't end up like NC). Anyway, there is a portable camp sink. They come in all sizes. It's an actual sink in a sturdy hard plastic box. You put a hose in a water bottle, another in a catch basin bottle, squeeze the bulb to build air pressure, turn on sink to run water as needed. A good pump on the bulb can last a week or more. Refill and fill as needed. We have a sun room that runs the length of the house. I have this set up in the sun room. When not in use it folds up like a suitcase. I painted the outside to look like an old antique leather and wood steam trunk. That's what it looks like. A steam trunk sitting on a side table until needed. Then lift tree lid and bam, ready to use kitchen sink. Most things the water in the grey tank (bucket under the table, I drilled a hole to hide tubes and kuligen water bottles) most times the bad water evaporates meaning I have nothing to toss. I use a five gallon primo water bottle to feed the sink. Easy peezy pudding pie.
Edit: you could also do a primo water bottle with a battery spout set on the floor over a packing bin. Homemade sink for less than $20.
Great ideas!
I would love to see you have a card video from these.
I love stencils. I had some in a 12x12 photo album, and others in an old zippered 3 ring binder. Two of the best things I did were 1) realizing that I most likely don't need anymore stencils and 2)eliminated ones I didn't care for. Doing the elimination let me combine them all into the 12x12 photo album. It is easy to find the "perfect " stencil for the project at hand.
Great idea!
Linsay! Now we need to know where we can get these stencils! They were in your stash, and you said it had been a while but do you know where we could get something similar to what you are showing? The cityscapes are wicked cool! Thanks for all you do!
Never mind I just saw your links below!
I love the gold gilding polish, but I don't like the sponge. I bought gold and white.
I like the sponge hen I remover to lean it 😆
I would love to see you make cards from these! -Kryste
👍
This was a fun video to watch, thank you💕💕😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Lindsay! Loved this 👍
Thank you!! 😊
Thank you for your yt channel I’ve been taking a yt break looking after my dad who has been sick in the hospital he’s home now thankfully and I’m getting back my art and craft projects I like every video you make thanks again Lindsay 🙂👍🙂Gracie shack
I hope he is feeling better.
@@thefrugalcrafter he’s making good progress ty
I feel stupid giving you of all people advice, but here we go:
1. For the Distress Sprays, try wiping the nozzle AFTER use, before you cap it. That should take care of the clogging.
2. The Polishes:
a) most people find the flat foam Distress daubers (usually used for creating ink blends) work better than the included applicator. You’ll want to dedicate one for each polish. Many say they don’t have to clean them, either.
b) To stop them from drying out, cover the opening with a small square of Press'n Seal wrap. Use it for anything that needs to stay moist.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the tip!
Yes to cardmaking! 😊
Coming soon!
@@thefrugalcrafter pls do cardmaking
If that gold stuff with the sponge topper is like a wax, I don’t think you have to wash the sponges. I’ll keep watching and may comment more. Ok almost finished. I could watch this all day long. Awesome fun session
The sponge gets hard if you don't wash it unless you are using it so often it doesn't get the chance to dry.
I've also decided not to buy any more sprays because as you said the juice is not worth the squeeze. I would love to see cards that you make with these.
👍
I could see using the stencils as a background themselves and then putting writing over them. Like for Holiday/B Day cards, something where you can write large and get the message across. Stencils are those things that I have A LOT of because they are inexpensive (at least the ones I get, I refuse to buy any that are expensive just because of the name attached) and are for a very specific purpose. Do I use them every day? Of course not, but that doesn't mean they need to go in the donation pile. If you like the stencil and can see yourself using it even if that might be only once a year, then keep it! It's not like an expensive watercolor paper, or every color of every paint that if you only use it once a year makes it not worth buying, you know?
Good point!
I just love the cosmic polish which comes in all types of variations. As for the sponges I don't think they work that well nd are a pain to clean so I use make up sponges or more often my fingers.
Thanks for sharing!!
Yes, cards please.
👍
yes please Lindsay to card making videos
Ok!
Yes show us cards
I think you should get rid of these stencils and send them to me😅
😆 🤣 😂
I was thinking the same thing lol😂
