    For me, it used to be rare to catch a big lanier largemouth but this year I’ve caught more big largemouths than spots

      I completely agree! There are so many largemouth out there. Hopefully they continue to show up the rest of the year!

    I think they're being secretly stocked on Hartwell and Lanier.

      @@campetro10 hartwell took a turn about 3 years ago like overnight. It’s insane. Our largemouth bass used to be long and skinny. Now they’re meatballs. Do you have an IG?

      Yeah Hartwell is popping off as well the last couple years. No IG for me. I got rid of it a few years ago.

    Hey Cam, what rod do you recommend throwing the 6" magdraft on?

    • @campetro10
      @campetro10  3 месяца назад

      i actually throw it on a medium heavy jig rod. I use NRX+ 803 JWR but any jig rod will do. you just have to mentally be more patient when setting the hook especially if you watch the fish eat. I normally throw fluorocarbon though so the faster action “jig” rod is neutralized a bit by the stretch of the fluorocarbon. other than that i would lean to a medium heavy swimbait or chatterbait rod.

    In my 20 years fishing lanier i only caught 3 largies

      They are normally tough to come by on Lanier! Seems to be more of them the last couple of years though.

    I had a similar experience I caught and eight pound even on the south end in a blow down on a jig my biggest that I landed on Lanier and she looked spawned out early and her mouth was massive would have thought she was twelve but nope only eight I've caught five over ten out of a private pond biggest was a 16.4 on eight pound test wacky rig black and blue senko probably will never ever beat that but still Ive seen probably over 30 ten pound bass on Lanier either on bed or swiping my bait the craziest was a school of large mouth of 6 fish all over 7 to 8 pounds for sure across from Port Royal just cruising the bank around june and another moment mid lake in a shallow ditch three on beds easily all three in the 10 to 12 range but none would even consider biting

      thats normally how it happens unfortunately! would be nice to catch some pre spawn giants all fattened up. oh i believe it! there are some lunkers swimming around lake Lanier especially now. the lake is so healthy. thats a monster PB!

    When it cools off like it has, will they still eat it

    • @campetro10
      @campetro10  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes they will! Not as much though and I wouldn’t rely on it for 5 bites in a day. Some fish are still up shallow even after a big cold front and you could still catch a big one on it just bites will be much harder to come by.

      Cam, I have been throwing it like you said, I am getting a lot of followers but no takers. What am I doing wrong brother

      @@jackhowell7088 I cant give away all the secrets!🤣 im messing. not every day is going to be a swimbait day. this weekend for me was tough on the big swimbait. i still caught some but it wasnt great. i had to change. it is just like other baits in your tackle box that you need to rotate through to find what the fish want the most on any given day. However, if you are going to lock it in your hand regardless of conditions, try and find wind. that is very important. also this time of year look for the warmest pockets or pockets that have the most sun they will be best. also, pay attention to the depth you are seeing followers or start catching fish in and keep running that depth. again, not every day is a swimbait bite flat out but keep it honest and eventually you will have some days that will be stupid. pay attention to the spawn cycles too😉 it all matters dialing in those epic swimbait days! keep throwing it!

      During the spawn the fish will move up in shallower pockets on rock and under docks.
