It was an amazing interview. I've been vegan for over 10 years and never got abs my metabolism is super slow too. I get full by eating little yet same weight and look for years lol. No oils salt sugar only a whole foods plant based diet, you nailed 100% every person is different so there's no a single plan fits all thing. I wish i could get my break someday and get the abs of my dreams 😅
@@KinaStaruI thought exactly the same as you 9 months ago. Try fasting min 14 hours at least every other day, track your calories, hit abs exercise at least 2 x/week and keep up with your workout schedule. You will see them popping out in no time and the fun part is as soon as you see them, you will want to keop going naturally.

I’m in my mid 60s. I took up endurance running as an omnivore, I trained with a guy in his 30s. He adopted a whole food plant based diet. His time to run 100 km dropped by 1.5 hrs to 16 hrs, without extra training. I have since adopted a whole food plant based diet, (no sugar). Sinus congestion gone, tinnitus reduced, muscle and joint soreness gone, energy levels high, improved mood, I can eat as much as I want and I stay slim and toned and feel terrific. Few tips I have learnt that works for me as a WFPB vegan athlete. 1. Have adequate salt but not over the RDI, my running speed drops drastically if I don’t have enough. 2. Eat seaweed daily, this seems to ensure I have a lot of needed micro nutrients and minerals and helps the running. Seems to help recovery too. 3. Eat a variety of fermented veggies daily. Seems to keep the stomach ticking along nicely.
Aw don't beat yourself up Peter, just focus on winning the next meal. The whole journey isn't about perfection, it's about progression. So as long as you cheat less and less you are heading in the right direction :)

Sorry, I can’t stand when people say a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat. No, it does not. A pound of muscle weighs the same as 1 pound of fat. Hence, they both weigh 1 pound. I’m constantly trying to get my fourth graders to understand that. She lost a bunch of weight, Fantastic! Then she gained some weight by putting muscle on.
I totally get it, 1 lbs of fat or 1 lbs of muscle or 1 lbs of feathers is 1 lbs ahah. Muscle is just more dense and takes up less space, which is why people will have a better composition
According to the machine used at the gym I'm now losing muscle not fat. I'm around 60 kgs. I was 75 kgs and lost over a 14 months. I'm getting 60-90 grams of protein (cronometer). Weight bearing x 2 pilates x 2 walking distance x 2 and a fitness class. I'm 58 female. Started HRT to help with bones and muscles. Anything else? I'm wfpb no sos. No alcohol or smoking. Feeling great. Just need to keep my muscles.
What do you mean by weight bearing? Like weight lifting? If not then you want to incorporate it into your routine. Either free weights or body weight training. Muscle is more taxing on the body and if you aren't using it then the body will see as excess weight and will naturally burn it first. If you want to keep it, use it.
Hey @skippy6462, two things I would adjust, Bump up your protein intake to 120 g a day (75 kg X1.6g of protein per kg of bodyweight) and make sure you aren't too steep in a calorie deficit. The deeper you go in a calorie deficit the more important it is too consume all your protein and resistant train hard. Because your body is more likely to go catabolic in that environment (Where it eats its own muscle). I hope this helps

Exactly which is why people can sometimes weight close to the same as when they start their fat loss but look completely different and their clothe fit better too
A cancer tumor can take up to 20 yrs to be big enough to feel or see. Know that by that time, you have a big, yet short, road ahead. Better to be wholefood plantbased as early in your life you can, not wait until you are at the end of the tumor's growth, dont wait to become vegan. That means if you get a tumor at age 60, it could have began up too age 40, so it is never to late to get started as your vegan diet will build your immune system to be a stronger soldier against those cancer cells when they are small or a single cell. The reason it takes so long to see it is that the cancer cells double every many days or months depending on the 'type' of cancer. Lets say the one that you have doubles every 4 months. That means in 4 months there are only 2 cancer cells. In 4 more months it is 4 cells, if keeps doubling. By 10 yrs it is getting bigger and the doubling is growing the tumor to a larger size. The slowest cancer type takes 20 yrs of doubling to get big enough to know its there, but it keeps doubling. The Jobs computer guy that died of cancer had a 20 yrs type, so he had the cancer growing from the time he was dealing with chemicals in his job. He tried to go vegan at the last couple of months but it was too late. Just think if 20 yrs prior he was vegan, his immune system would have been much greater and he may have been able to kill that one cancer cell. Note that we all have rouge cancer cells at all times, but our immune system kills them. When you get a cancer tumor it is because the immune system was unable to kill it in time. Go Vegan as soon as you can to grow your immune system to great lengths!

What sort of calorie level would you be shooting for in a 50 something year old 5' 10" woman? I currently maintain on 1000 calories a day with 90 minutes a day of exercise (weights and cardio). I've tried to increase calories in the past but i always just gain fat.
@@cinuk I think it's too low, but I've had zero success with raising that number without putt on fat and increasing my waist size. And I'm not small to begin with. About 165 pounds. It is what it is, as they say.
@@cinuk My weight isn't terrible. It's what I have to do to maintain it that's bad. My diet is clean 95 + percent of the time. I suspect it's from decades of undereating. I do have hypothyroidism but it is treated and stable .

Sounded great, but when i visited his website, there was no upfront cost info. Big red flag. Want people to trust you? Give them all the information they need to make an informed decision upfront, without a high pressure sales call (information session). Many of us have been burned before in our desperate attempt to lose weight and get healthy.
Ahah I love these comments, I'm fitter and leaner than 98% of the population and can outlift, out run, out swim, out bike a lot of people. I also use to be 240 lbs really jacked and lost all of it to do modeling and then fell into athletic sports so I never had a need to get "Bigger again"
Haha Maxime you were paid $11 an hour and weekly $300 in America which I think was not bad. I was paid $8/hr in 2010, $9 in 2011, $10 in 2012 in Sydney and surprisingly it never did exceed $10. My hourly pay stayed at $10 in 2013 too. I was supposed to earn $25/hr and I worked for 16 hrs a day. It's a bad luck to be horribly underpaid and the businessmen of such kind are always looking for the people they can take advantage of. That is what happens to the 3rd world people in the first world countries. And that 'Dream big' slogan of yours' is quite big for me. Chuck is ok but I liked him more when he was fat. Don't dream big. Dream small and achieve big, and that makes you happy.
Over the past few months, I have informally become almost a vegan for two reqsons: can't afford meat or seafood & my absolute love of veggies! But as a 76 yr old who used to quite fit, trained to become a recreational rower for over q decade. That was 15 yrs ago & stopped my favourite sport! Up until a year ago, when I started to become vegan, my muscle strength was pretty good. but this last few months, I have lost muscle mass!! And now I know how critical it is NOT to lose muscle mass as you age. Now what to do? I am very focussed on the nutrition of everything that I eat! Help😢
What are you doing to build muscle? Diet doesn't build muscle, working the muscle builds muscle. If you don't use it, you lose it and it takes more than daily normal activity. Compare how active you are today compared to 10 years ago. Retirement is just a job change, not an excuse to become sedentary. Our new job is our body maintenance. If you are at all like me, you're tired of working and would like to relax. We can do both though because we don't have to put in an 8 hour day to stay fit. I'm not assuming you aren't doing activity to build muscle, just providing my 2 cents worth in case this is the situation.
As recreational ex-rower I'd like to comment. First of all - how you measure that you lost muscle mass? You cant loose lots of muscle mass in few months, but you can loose LOTS of fat from your body, so the size goes down for sure. But you have to measure strenght. If you lift the same weight and have energy - all is good. Secondly, as a 76 year -old you have to 1) stimulate the muscle more often than in younger years. So - resitance training is a must. 2) Adequate amout of protein. At your age I'd say aim at 1 - 1.2g per lean body mass. So if you eat plant based - ar you tracking your macros?
Thank you for sharing that Gloria, I would say look at three components as we coach people between 60 and. 80 all the time and this is a common situation. 1. Make sure you are consuming enough calories per day, when people under eat too much they will lose muscle mass faster. 2. Make sure to incorporate some resistance training 3 times a week ideally to retain and build more lean muscle mass as it declines with age and if we don't put the body in a environment where it has to use those muscle and get them stronger it will just go the opposite direction. 3. Put a little emphasis on plant proteins (around 1.2 to 1.6g per kg of bodyweight per day) to help ensure there is enough building blocks (amino acids from protein) to help with the recovery :) I hope this helps, as these three things is what has helped all of our members over 60 build lean muscle and not have a decrease like most people
Big tks for all the great tips and info. My grip strength is strong & biceps good! But there is an obvious loss of muscle on my fore arms - just hanging fat. I am not all that hungry & feel full & sastiated quickly. So it can be difficult to eat the appropriate amount of protein. I have almost completely weaned off sugar of all types. This is a great video that is so important for seniors! Muscle mass really helps to stop seniors from falling! feign
Yikes. Triathlons. Hard on the body! I have known 2 people who were triathletes and were in Ironman. Both died before 60. But were not vegan. So who knows!
Never too late; at age 80 I worked with a personal trainer.....he transformed my body......I dance 2 - 3 times a week.....keep moving!

I just spoke to someone today that wanted to join our program that was spending $600/month on the fat loss drug (similar to Ozempic) which is only providing a temporary solution because as soon as you stop the drug you will put the weight back on because you haven't dealt with the underlying issues (Food behavior, dealing with bad habits, consistency with fitness, mental discipline, etc...) so for a fraction of the cost of the drug you can get the problem handled.
So it's all relative to what you compare it too. I don't coach people to lose the weight I coach people to lose it and KEEP IT off. Because the alternative outcome is that people don't deal with the weight issues and continue to yo-yo diet and continue to cause more damage to their health.
Which if you live in the United-States (I do now) one trip to the hospital would be FAR more expensive then the investment to work with a team like ours.
It's about if you want to invest in yourself now or pay to side effects later which are more painful and far more expensive.
I'm sure you figured out that you struck a sensitive cord with me because if I had that mindset my late partner would have live only potentially lived 1 year instead of 5 if I cheaped out on her health.
This is your health we are talking about and if you are someone that can read information online and implement it right away without any issues in consistency for a lifetime then that is beautiful you don't need a coaching program like ours.

What sort of calorie level would you be shooting for in a 50 something year old 5' 10" woman? I currently maintain on 1000 calories a day with 90 minutes a day of exercise (weights and cardio). I've tried to increase calories in the past but i always just gain fat.
@@cinuk I think it's too low, but I've had zero success with raising that number without putt on fat and increasing my waist size. And I'm not small to begin with. About 165 pounds. It is what it is, as they say.
@@cinuk My weight isn't terrible. It's what I have to do to maintain it that's bad. My diet is clean 95 + percent of the time. I suspect it's from decades of undereating. I do have hypothyroidism but it is treated and stable .

@@cinukyou're never gonna lose weight eating 3000 to 3500 calories. You're in a caloric surplus. You need to eat under 2000 in order to lose weight.

Sounded great, but when i visited his website, there was no upfront cost info. Big red flag. Want people to trust you? Give them all the information they need to make an informed decision upfront, without a high pressure sales call (information session). Many of us have been burned before in our desperate attempt to lose weight and get healthy.
A pound of fat weights the same as a pound of muscle. You are changing the mass. A pound weighs a pound no matter what.

Ahah I love these comments, I'm fitter and leaner than 98% of the population and can outlift, out run, out swim, out bike a lot of people. I also use to be 240 lbs really jacked and lost all of it to do modeling and then fell into athletic sports so I never had a need to get "Bigger again"
Haha Maxime you were paid $11 an hour and weekly $300 in America which I think was not bad. I was paid $8/hr in 2010, $9 in 2011, $10 in 2012 in Sydney and surprisingly it never did exceed $10. My hourly pay stayed at $10 in 2013 too. I was supposed to earn $25/hr and I worked for 16 hrs a day. It's a bad luck to be horribly underpaid and the businessmen of such kind are always looking for the people they can take advantage of. That is what happens to the 3rd world people in the first world countries. And that 'Dream big' slogan of yours' is quite big for me. Chuck is ok but I liked him more when he was fat. Don't dream big. Dream small and achieve big, and that makes you happy.
Over the past few months, I have informally become almost a vegan for two reqsons: can't afford meat or seafood & my absolute love of veggies! But as a 76 yr old who used to quite fit, trained to become a recreational rower for over q decade. That was 15 yrs ago & stopped my favourite sport! Up until a year ago, when I started to become vegan, my muscle strength was pretty good. but this last few months, I have lost muscle mass!! And now I know how critical it is NOT to lose muscle mass as you age. Now what to do? I am very focussed on the nutrition of everything that I eat! Help😢
What are you doing to build muscle? Diet doesn't build muscle, working the muscle builds muscle. If you don't use it, you lose it and it takes more than daily normal activity. Compare how active you are today compared to 10 years ago. Retirement is just a job change, not an excuse to become sedentary. Our new job is our body maintenance.
If you are at all like me, you're tired of working and would like to relax. We can do both though because we don't have to put in an 8 hour day to stay fit.
I'm not assuming you aren't doing activity to build muscle, just providing my 2 cents worth in case this is the situation.
As recreational ex-rower I'd like to comment. First of all - how you measure that you lost muscle mass? You cant loose lots of muscle mass in few months, but you can loose LOTS of fat from your body, so the size goes down for sure. But you have to measure strenght. If you lift the same weight and have energy - all is good. Secondly, as a 76 year -old you have to 1) stimulate the muscle more often than in younger years. So - resitance training is a must. 2) Adequate amout of protein. At your age I'd say aim at 1 - 1.2g per lean body mass. So if you eat plant based - ar you tracking your macros?
Thank you for sharing that Gloria, I would say look at three components as we coach people between 60 and. 80 all the time and this is a common situation.
1. Make sure you are consuming enough calories per day, when people under eat too much they will lose muscle mass faster.
2. Make sure to incorporate some resistance training 3 times a week ideally to retain and build more lean muscle mass as it declines with age and if we don't put the body in a environment where it has to use those muscle and get them stronger it will just go the opposite direction.
3. Put a little emphasis on plant proteins (around 1.2 to 1.6g per kg of bodyweight per day) to help ensure there is enough building blocks (amino acids from protein) to help with the recovery :)
I hope this helps, as these three things is what has helped all of our members over 60 build lean muscle and not have a decrease like most people
Big tks for all the great tips and info. My grip strength is strong & biceps good! But there is an obvious loss of muscle on my fore arms - just hanging fat. I am not all that hungry & feel full & sastiated quickly. So it can be difficult to eat the appropriate amount of protein. I have almost completely weaned off sugar of all types. This is a great video that is so important for seniors! Muscle mass really helps to stop seniors from falling! feign

Yikes. Triathlons. Hard on the body! I have known 2 people who were triathletes and were in Ironman. Both died before 60. But were not vegan. So who knows!
