This video kind of woke me up because I've been so lost with my art and for years I told myself what I want is to create fantasy art but for years I've been mostly creating fictional character art and portraits… but just recently I entered an Art contest that involves Fantasy worlds. So I've decided you know… let's do it!! This artwork is the biggest digital artwork I've ever done. Now I am eager to make more fantasy work. My main problem is I have to know everything in order to draw it which makes me not want to draw… but watching this video made me think that I can just make art… even if it's bad… move on and enjoy it... I am getting older and I haven't made art I wanted to do...I've been stopping myself from completing art fast and mostly doing sketches… 💀🙈

    • @ysvyri
      @ysvyri  Год назад +1

That's amazing, I'm so happy for you! 😊 And thank you for taking the time to watch my video. If you're ever feeling overwhelmed by how much you have to learn with making art, just remember that good artists are just bad artists that never gave up, and the key to making good art is to make a lot of bad art - plus, what is good and what is bad, is totally subjective anyway! 😉 Good luck with your contest! You win anyway just by creating what you wanted to create! 💜

Social media has messed so many of us up! This year I realized how I had a habit of not allowing myself to sketch freely, but almost skip over it to get something created for social media. I feel as though I am relearning how to sketch in a way that is fun, enjoyable, and free. Allowing myself to take time on illustrations instead of trying to complete something for the social media machine. Authenticity has been a big deal for me lately, and because of you, I asked myself while in Hobby Lobby what represents where I am today, and butterflies came to mind. They are not only colorful to me but represent transformation to me. I felt like crying, because after I had that thought I found a beautiful butterfly sculpture and knew I was finally finding myself again. Someone commented this video feels like home, and I agree. It is like spending time with a friend while working on art.

Something that has been on my mind lately, as i share my artwork, is that i want to put it out there in hopes of connecting with other people like me. I acknowledge that im a bit odd and i accept that the average person will not enjoy what I make, and that's okay. I know other people like me exist, even if they are nowhere near me in real life. I want to take advantage of this world wide public space to create connections i otherwise would never have the opportunity to cultivate. Thank you for your lovely content!

I found your work recently, and I was intrigued to check out your RUclips channel! Your discussion on authenticity rung true for me too, especially since a big part of my 20s has been spent learning how to take care of and love myself. ❤I've been leaning in more heavily about the little and whimsical things that make me happy and I have found a new curiosity in exploring different themes and techniques for my art. 🎨I can admittedly feel intimidated in creative spaces because I do my art "only as a hobby" when I'm surrounded by talented people that do it professionally, but I do my best to see it as inspirational instead! 😄

Thank you for your kind message! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my work and the little discussion on authenticity. Your journey towards self-care and self-love is inspiring! It's fantastic that you're exploring the whimsical and finding joy in your art too. Remember, every artistic journey is unique, whether it's a hobby or profession. I know many hobbyists who move within the professional community and I can tell you from experience, we just all want to paint and draw, anything else beyond that doesn't matter! Keep embracing your creativity! 😊💜

I just found your channel and this really, really spoke to me,
ive recently been on that journey of authenticity and truly revisiting my own childhood in many many shapes and forms, the way i dress with less care and more practicality because i simply want to not stress about perfection,
inviting color into my life again
reading all my favoutire childrens stories, revisiting my favourite childrens series and pc games.
And rediscovering colored pencils, something that i saw others use perfectly so i never dared try, but that became such a huge inspiration for me now that it even floated right into the technique i use to make art.
Ive never felt more comfortable in my skin as i do now, im still on a journey, but i am me.
Im glad to hear about your journey, you are really inspiring and your art is gorgeous , it really speaks to me!

It honestly startled me to come across this video, hearing someone in the exact same stage in their life and their work as I am, even down to your thoughts and difficulties with it. It was like hearing my own words. I too made myself in the image of others and changed due to a family issue, except my father left this world. I have been struggling to find out what it is I really enjoy making as I realized I don't even know anymore, so I started a journey to find out. I've started taking my own reference pictures of things that inspire me in the moment just so I can actually LOOK at what inspires me, to have that answer, to see where there is still magic for me. Your artwork, btw, is ABSOLUETLY BEAUTIFUL and the piece you painted here.. it's almost as if the character's inner glow resonates around the piece. Thank you for posting this. I knew I wasn't alone in my struggle, but it was so nice to find someone in ALMOST EXACTLY the same spot.

i really needed to hear this, especially the part where you mentioned feeding social media,, living in such a fast-paced world who's attention spans are only getting smaller by the day is really difficult to live with sometimes. i feel like i have to rush myself to finish a painting just so that i can get it out there and be able to hop onto the next hype-train, and what sucks even more is that i struggle with adhd *and* autism. often times i cant get myself to complete or even begin a painting that quickly. ive grown to resent and hate social media because of this, that and along with all of the toxicity it adds onto my daily life that i just dont want for myself anymore. this video helped me nudge myself in the right direction - i guess i just needed to hear someone tell me to let go of it, and that ill be okay without peer-pressuring myself like that, that i'll make it. thanks from a random 17 year old! ive got a long way to go :]

What a wonderful video! You touch on a lot of things I often think about. I often take really long with my pieces like 3-4 weeks, which is very tough to justify on an economic level. But it's how I produce my best werk and that seems to show through to other people.
Also I tend to grow more obsessive and work longer hours just before I finish a painting. On the one hand, you might have grown a little tired of it and just want to finish. On the other, you also somehow already look back longingly at the first few hours of the painting where you still had so much ahead of you. Because you realize looking back how fullfilling it was working on it.
    Anyway, new subscriber here^^

Thank you so much Felix! 😊💜 I think it's important to always remember to go at your own pace and to not compare yourself to others. I see nothing wrong on wanting to get faster if you'd like to, but always be sure not to pressure yourself too much! It's all good!

I just loved what you said about ourselves being the greatest work of art we will ever work on ♥
And about liking things as a performance too! I realized this recently and I'm working on it currently, to just find what I truly like if there was anyone around. Pretty hard to do when we are a chameleon HSP, trying too much on being attuned with other instead of simply being ourselves - if we only know who we are after all these years of people pleasing ... Luckily I've spent and still spend enough time alone to not losing my true self. I have to keep that precious on my own, even if I feel lonely or even FOMO.
I'm a bit curious, what are the themes/subjects you were painting before you don't want to paint anymore, then what are the ones you (re)discovered loving the most ?

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and resonated with the message! 😊💜 To answer your question; I always kept my work dark and horror related, pressuring myself to go darker. It's funny, because my work has always had a romantic vibe, so even when I was doing that my true self was peeking out. I actually really love ghost stories and gothic novels - but I now embrace only the parts of the horror genre I like rather than trying to get as edgy/dark/serious as possible. I also don't stop myself now if I start to like something outside of that realm, whereas before I would force myself into a tiny box!

@@ysvyri Thank you so much for your answer! I can totally relate, back in the day I have been too much influenced by what I saw, and what my friend liked too (and sometimes I'm just genuinely interested in too much stuff :D). But when we encounter it we can feel into our guts what we really love, and that's where we find our true self and happiness :)
I wish you all the great time painting your true and authentic subject and aesthetic!
