You all need to realize that Iceland will keep sending this group until they win. Don't let them win. I want to see them again for Eurovision 2022 and beyond.
I was a little surprised about that because they all look really youthful, almost like teenagers (I mean that in a good way) :) Just didn’t expect them to be married
Im so fucking dissapointed they wont get to play live, they missed a year because of covid cancelling the competition, then one of them get covid forcing everyone into quarantine
Can we appreciate that Daði don't need big production teams with professionals from all over Europe to help him like most of the other entries? He writes and produces the songs himself, and all the people sourrounding and helping him with staging, background vocals, clothes, instruments and so on are close friends and family.
Why does everyone misconstrue it as disco? A quick history of music, it's genres and sub genres would really help. This is so far from what actual disco sounds and looks like. The visuals are very electro pop, pixel, futuristic, videogamey, it's nothing disco at all, it got nothing to do with it at all. And the sounds are rather funk, pop, electronic. Like this whole thing has a more future feel than disco.
You can see that they recorded this more than one time because if you look to the left at his foot you see a line where he does that dance over and over hahahhahaha

He put his wife at the back. She should be circling around him as she plays her instrument otherwise this seems more as an attempt at higher odds rather than presenting a meaningful love song (also the quirky dancing looks out of place compared to the lyrics)

Ok so I really enjoy this song and I love dadi, but no gimmick? Seriously? The while band is wearing green pyjamas with their own faces on it for both their eurovision songs. If that isn't a gimmick I don't know what is?
Agree. So many familiar songwriters every year now with multiple credits on different entries. Think EBU may review rules in future years if this trend continues. Not saying that is a good thing but not saying it is not a good thing either 😉 A debate for future years.
This gentle giant is a phenomenon. A playful little boy in the body of an insanely humorous tall viking. Daði, you have my vote! And a piece of my heart!
@@Shamaroth Paternal lines are Germanic in origin on about 75% of Icelandic males, so it would mean those Germanic boys liked to have their way on Irish/Scottish women. They probably raided those English coasts and took the women there.
One thing I enjoy about this song and performance is how effortless it sounds/looks. Yet it's obvious the band invested many hours of work and thought carefully about each small detail and how it fits into the larger picture. The composition, outfits, dancing, those weird 'instruments' (which I assume they designed themsleves or with help from friends) - it all fits together perfectly and creates a whole that is bigger than the sum of its parts. It's also refreshing to hear a love song which is genuinely moving/heartfelt, but at the same time funny and playful. "10 Years" is a favorite of mine, and I hope many other Eurovision fans will like/vote for it 👍
I think this one is actually more interesting to listen to than think about things. I think a lot of people dislike this one because they didn't know this group last year and they were surprised by them, this year they obviously know them.
I’m sorry but this is the most odd, funky and absolute banger I have ever listened to. For some random reason this song seems like a meme but let me tell you it’s so much more...
For everyone that says, the last year's song was better, let's remember many of the people, that are watching ESC are not hearing songs before the semi-finals and this might surprise them. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. Have a great day.
Well, true, but I do think that even if you hear this one first, last year's song is visibly better. This year is nice too, as the music style is nice, but I'd also concur that I don't personally think this has strong chances of winning like it did last year :')
True, BUT last years song is 100x better with better presentation, choreography, the wind machine, the cameraworks, the general happy feel of the song. Just everything about last year is better. I don't think this has any chance of winning. It might not even make the final.
Literally everything about this act is amazing. The melody, instrumentation, lyrics, the choreography, the staging... It's perfect. Quite frankly one of the best Eurovision entries in a long while. You've won in my heart, guys.
exactly. the thing that is so annoying in otherwise nice eurovision fandom is that everyone is such a music proffesional after one listening 🙄 or they wish. let people do their thing the way they like it. every song will be produced differently
@@alzbetal1499 Music is like Food You like it or you dont like it I can say this years Entry from Iceland is not my cup of tea Its all about taste I dont have to hear a song 15 times
I love the fact that at this point it's some short of trilogy that came to a "conclusion". 2017: about how he met his wife 2020: about their daughter 2021: about their life together this past decade! Let's hope that if Iceland wins and he gets to be in the opening ceremony, he will have another chapter to this story
Im so glad to find this video and discover this talented group. I was listening to a public radio station here in the US and a guest speaker was talking about the wide range of talents in Eurovision. I immediately looked up Eurovision and everything led me to this incredibly entertaining and super talented group. Can we just talk about his low register? !?!? His voice is pure GOLD!!!
A friend of mine from Finland was talking about Eurovision when it happened and they said “I’m so mad Iceland didn’t win, they totally deserved it” and i’ve been addicted to listening to Dadi’s songs now.
A bit more info. The official video is on the way with different costumes, plot story and everything. And their staging will be totally different. See the making of documentary by RÚV on RUclips in English. Gives a good insight into the group. Dadi is actually a solo musician and a very talented one. But the group has only appeared around Euro. His wife Árný and the boys are dancers in the group. The blue haired girl is a singer in two groups but studies at the film academy. Dadi's sister is doing backing vocals with brother but in the day time she is becoming a goldsmith. She has made some jewelry not yet revealed. See the doc of 2 farm kids in love.
The documentary was so much fun, to see how the entire group is so crazy about doing this together. It feels like you're with them on the greatest groupproject ever
Yes indeed, I'm impatiently waiting for it! Someone commented on the YouYube link of the documentary that the video would be out on the 26th, so that's tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, because the Songvakeppnin performance of Think About Things was also a little less impactful compared to the music video. Might give them a renewed boost for the competition!
@@Octobris Yeah. Based on my own feelings if my country - Sweden - send the Mamas this year, which we could've. Thankfully they didn't win. But Iceland send the same act, which makes no sense this time around since this song is about his wife. So why then have the silly dance, sweaters and instruments? It had a point last year, given the lyrics. Now it's just tacked on. To get votes, ofcourse. Embarrassing.
@@baconair I am from Sweden and I'm embarrassed about us sending mainstream pop songs all the time. This is something unique, it's his genre and style. It doesn't matter what song it is, have you seen his other songs? Yes, exactly. They are just crazy as this, it's his style so don't comment that this is embarrassing while Sweden is sending some garbage mainstream pop song.
Sweden actually voted for our winner last year, you got our 12 points and our tv-votes winner was Iceland! Hope you win the whole thing this year! It’s so cool, interesting, nice vocals and lyrics, and actually feels fresh and creative.
@@juliusvf It's weird then how the scandinavian model (capitalism with a strong social welfare system/redistributionist policies) is outperforming the US by almost all measures and doing so precisely because they incorporate left wing economics
@@juliusvf By its very definition, capitalism will tend to Monopoly. By this, without severe intervention, those in the lower echelons of society will be outcast. The Very structure of a capitalist economy requires there to be a lower class always in poverty. You fundamentally are limiting the prosperity of people for the benefit of those above, whose perceived benefit to society is not based on a mutual beneficence. The issue with capitalism is that it puts "economic prosperity" above "humanitarian prosperity". Ultimately, from a humanist lens, we should aim to increase the *universal* standard of living, and that involves the desanctification, restructuring or possible outright abolishment of modern capitalism.
I do think this is better. But I highly doubt most people would agree. Think About Things sounds like a lead single and this is more like a final track on an album
Of course. Considering Iceland is the only west country that never won the Eurovision, it's kind of embsressing in some point over the years. Well, they have never been on the right track. Including this year.
Think about things🤗
The song is not Think About Things by a long shot, but topping that was just impossible because he didn't have that element of surprise anymore. Daði is a capital A Artist. I love the idea behind the this song, the lyrics, the typical Daði quirks. Glad he kept the same feel to the song as his song from last year. It's less catchy, but if you didn't know about Think About Things, this is still top 10 material for sure.
Less catchy? Emm...no. It's astounding to me why so many people can't see how good and better this song is. There could have never been an element of surprise no matter what song they did, because everyone now knows their style.
"Omg, this is exactly what it would look like if high school band nerd friends stayed together and made their own band." - Me to one of my high school band nerd friends

I agree - Think about Things was really great and i wasn't expecting them to top it but I really like this song even more so! Definitely my top 3 so far!
Think About Things was a great surprise. Without a doubt it's my song of 2020. I dug into Daði's catalog (and songs released since TAT) and my Playlist was filled. This is more mature, yet possesses the same element of surprise in that he found a way to win this year for Iceland. It's the best song of this year's contest by far, fits perfectly into his catalog and will without a doubt be my song of 2021. Is it better than Think About Things? I doesn't matter. It's a great song, period. Time will tell if it equals, bests or simply proves that Daði keeps getting better. ❤️ From the US.
They had a ridiculously high bar to reach (I believe they reached it tbh) but they were basically the unofficial winners last year. It’s quite a high bar.
See you next year in Iceland!! This guy with his group is just outstanding. Being one of the favourites last year and saving the high standard with a performance like this shows, how talented he is. The only competitor to keep in mind comes from Switzerland, let us see, who will win. Coming from Berlin, my "local" favourite is Daði, however. Take it away, please ! Have been following you for years and waiting for you to win! You truly deserve it! :-)
This is a very clever song ... catchy and cool! The moves add to the performance. The voices are all in tune and synch and blend so well. Well done Iceland. Having listened to all the other songs I have clocked you to win! All the best from the UK
I love this song, the beggining of the chorus "how does it keep getting better" is very catchy ! so much fun and better than last year for me, my 12 points to Daði og Gagnamagnið !

Same like Jendrik from Germany
Agree. So many familiar songwriters every year now with multiple credits on different entries. Think EBU may review rules in future years if this trend continues. Not saying that is a good thing but not saying it is not a good thing either 😉 A debate for future years.
@@NoName-yu9zs i didnt mean that all another singers on ESC do not write their song on theirs own, but i think many countries hire

This is a classic Eurovision song right here. The perfect blend of unique, catchy, and fun. Love it love love it.
This gentle giant is a phenomenon. A playful little boy in the body of an insanely humorous tall viking. Daði, you have my vote! And a piece of my heart!
Fun fact, more than half the DNA of the Icelandic population is Irish/scotish.
I couldn’t say it better. 🥰
Iceland deserves the victory. This song is so good. 12 points from Ukraine! 🇮🇸 🇺🇦

Feel the same way!!
Agree! Still I think for a first time listen: It is not a winner. It's some candy along the way and I guess it'll be top 10 material!
@@Aliren380 I have similar thoughts, I like the song but I think they won't win, I would be really surprised if they will
Well, true, but I do think that even if you hear this one first, last year's song is visibly better.
You've won in my heart, guys.
these guys dont deserve all this bad comments, looks like people got too spoiled ourdays))) can't stop listening to this song!
exactly. the thing that is so annoying in otherwise nice eurovision fandom is that everyone is such a music proffesional after one listening 🙄 or they wish. let people do their thing the way they like it. every song will be produced differently

OMG...
You the real MVP
Yes indeed, I'm impatiently waiting for it! Someone commented on the YouYube link of the documentary that the video would be out on the 26th, so that's tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, because the Songvakeppnin performance of Think About Things was also a little less impactful compared to the music video. Might give them a renewed boost for the competition!
This guy creating absolute bangers two years in a row? Unheard of.
If he doesn't win this year, I'm gonna sue.
I find this song embarrassing
@@baconair okay
@@Octobris Yeah. Based on my own feelings if my country - Sweden - send the Mamas this year, which we could've. Thankfully they didn't win.
But Iceland send the same act, which makes no sense this time around since this song is about his wife. So why then have the silly dance, sweaters and instruments? It had a point last year, given the lyrics. Now it's just tacked on. To get votes, ofcourse.
Embarrassing.
@@baconair okay.
@@baconair I am from Sweden and I'm embarrassed about us sending mainstream pop songs all the time. This is something unique, it's his genre and style.

It's true, if he'd switched the songs we would all say "As I thought nothing can top 2020's "10 Years" this song comes in!"
element of surprise? It's a song contest not a martial arts competition
I prefer this by far
Less catchy? Emm...no. It's astounding to me why so many people can't see how good and better this song is. There could have never been an element of surprise no matter what song they did, because everyone now knows their style.
I actually like this a lot more than Think About Things haha

Think About Things was a great surprise. Without a doubt it's my song of 2020. I dug into Daði's catalog (and songs released since TAT) and my Playlist was filled. This is more mature, yet possesses the same element of surprise in that he found a way to win this year for Iceland. It's the best song of this year's contest by far, fits perfectly into his catalog and will without a doubt be my song of 2021. Is it better than Think About Things? I doesn't matter. It's a great song, period. Time will tell if it equals, bests or simply proves that Daði keeps getting better. ❤️ From the US.
