- Welcome to BLC Project: Isuzu | The Shakedown
We bought this 1991 Isuzu Trooper to modify into a budget off-road vehicle to take us to remote fly fishing destinations.
Our first fish to target: Native Cutthroat Trout in Idaho.
For our first trip we wanted something to test the truck without getting too serious as we needed to put it through it's paces. This spot in Idaho was the perfect choice to head to and paired with the grasshoppers that time of year it was a no brainer!
Tell us what you'd like to see us do with this Trooper! Where should we take it and what should the next upgrades be? Comment below!
Like the Isuzu project and want to see more? We made some gear featuring the Trooper! 100% of profits goes to producing future BLC Project: Isuzu films. www.bluelineflies.com/

Congratulations on the new rig!!! Thank you so much for putting a huge smile on my face!!! You guys are great!
👍 Thanks for watching!
“We’re 4 Wheeling Now Buddy”
This is the best line of the whole vid.
what a freaking video! the story, the video quality, the fish, and the laughs. Too good!
Thanks! Glad ya liked it! We appreciate the support!
The trooper algorithm brought me here !!! (:
Husband and I loved this video!
He wants a Trooper now!!
Great video!
Wow awsem, I loved when you let the fish go.
Trooper was one of the best 4wd I had
Nice video guys! Bring that thing up to Maine, and we'll put it through its paces 😂
Awesome video guys!! I’m thinking a rooftop tent or off-road pop up camper in the future! Lol
I love the Isuzu Project. One thing I've seen in the past is a rainbow trout wrap on a fishing vehicle that would take it over the top!
Falling down as an adult is hilarious. Great installment gents.
So happy to see fly fishing and trucks coming together from some great storytellers like you guys. Love this!
I just appreciate that you didn't hotspot the trip.
Great content and the production of the vid was top notch. Thanks for another great means to watch some fishing content!
Thanks for the watch Brett!
The troopers are good but only certain ones. You guys got a decent one for the money for sure. I’ve had a 4cyl 5 speed trooper for 22 years and it’s never let me down
I think we got a good one!
@@BlueLineCo yep seems to be one that you want. You will be happy with it and looks like you got a great deal. Stay away from the newer 90s ones and ones with v6 engines and auto trans. I’ve had 6 of them and every one of them was junk
overlanding and fishing go hand in hand in every part of the world!
My dad used to own that when I was in high school in late 90’s.. it’s been great vehicle for many fly fishing trips in Pacific Northwest and Canada
I found your channel through Overland Journal. I am no kind of fisherman but I am a car nut especially when it comes to 4x4 offroad overland vehicles. The Isuzu build got my attention. In 1990 I worked at a Pontiac/Isuzu dealership in Honolulu. I sold these Troopers and was very impressed with the simplicity and utility of these rigs. I couldn't buy one at the time but was always planning on building one as an overland rig. My plan was to do the GM 3.8l V6 swap. You guys did a great budget build. You now have a new subscriber to watch your new rig. Who knows, I might be inspired to take up fly fishing!
That's awesome Lenny! Thanks for the support!
Awesome video and great editing!! Really enjoyed this
Liked and commented just for Adam's fall
Glad we could entertain. RIP that drone.
Hell ya, this is what I'm talking about! New Tshirt for me
Nice ride! Picked up and '86 4Runner a couple of years ago, been slowly building it for some adventures! Keep it up, guys!
Great video, excited to see more!
My first vehicle was an Isuzu rodeo. Dam thing would go anywhere, I really miss it now!
Love this! Keep these videos plus all the tying action! Much love brothas!
Yessir, keep ‘‘em coming!
Also I felt that fall!😂
That fall was tough on big guys like us! Haha!
I love how you used the isuzu font for the on screen text!! Great build!
Great effort fellas - looking forward to many more of these.
Love the budget build ideas!
So dope! Nice work! Looks like it was a great trip too!
Love it Boyz!! Can't wait for more. Well done.
This is really cool...glad you guys are continuing to make cool content...dig the trooper!
Really great content. Love the mix of rig and fishing.
Awesome video! I’ve been doing overland/fly fishing for years but there is very little videos of rigs/ trips on the tube. Been following y’all and wild fly for years now. Great content! I’ll drink a beer to this!
Love the build, awesome video yall.
I had a Trooper back in the eighties . My ex wife got it in the divorce . Missed the Trooper more than her .Love all the videos from Wild Fly Blue line and Tight loops .You guys remind me when I was young . Thanks for the great content
Nice job boys. Looking forward to more.
Thanks bud! We have a lot more planned!
Nicely done gentlemen.
Amazing!!!
excellent shakedown, can't wait to see some more of the troop and the spots y'all hit!
Thanks Ty!
Excellent video as always
This is great and all, but let's not forget about the bus please!!!
Always have two spare tires, a highlift jack, and a few 2x4s.
Light bar on the front of the roof rack and the sides too. Then CB and gmrs radio, wheels tires and she’s schmicko
Great work boys
Every good Isuzu owner has a buddy with a jeep on stand by!
I daily and wheel my 88 2 door I've owned it since 09 just hit 110k I absolutely love these rigs keep these videos coming
We plan to!
Forgot to say great video👍
You guys should put a snorkel on it in case you come across a stream you have to cross
Stoked on seeing a Gen1 Trooper highlighted. I've got an '89 2.8L LS 5-Speed.
Did the whole Mojave Trail bone stock.
Super easy to work on, and pretty good aftermarket support.
My suspension was in even worse shape haha
That thing is awesome 👌
Very graceful fall Adam 😅👍🏻
Haha thanks!
That Isuzu is dope! Love the style of your videos as well. 😎🔥
that steve guy makes my innerds tingle
Super cool adventure. Loved the compact stove that you guy's used
Currently doing this with my 97 4Runner!!!!
I miss my 86’ turbo diesel Troopy 😢 it was a damn mountain goat
You're going to really like our next episode then....
Great video as usual guys!! For a minor Steve has the best beard going!!! You need to work that into part of your merch since beards are the race. Great truck rehab and a trooper!!! Could have went a little heavier tougher guy on the front end, maybe get a winch on there especially if you guys are going to overland!! I would recommend mounting a good Jack and shovel on that bad boy and some tow hooks, light bar on the front of that basket to light the way. Great fish man they were pigs!!! Love getting away from everything and blue lineing!!! I have to say I miss the school bus adventures and the old crew but I get it people go different ways in life…. As long as you keep adventuring it’s good for us to watch!!! You guys always put out great content, excellent editing funny videos but why does Adam always drive?? Lmao!!!! Best of luck guys!!!! You should do a subscriber contest and take a sub fishing with you on each trip!!! No one is doing it, be the first!!! Cuz I want to roll with you boys just once in my life!!!!!
Cuz Steve is learning to drive a stick! haha Thanks Scott
Sweet ride
Thanks!
Awesome film u guys should have way more subs.
Thanks! We're trying! haha
Looks like it was a great first trip
Thanks Erin! It was! We were thrilled we didn't get stranded!
he was shaking one the second step. lol
Good video I would add a winch and some rock sliders to protect under the door
I liked the carpool karaoke hobo Steve
Oh Shit.... Oh shit oh shit! Isuzu just looks at home out there on the dusty roads.
Dang that’s crazy
I need to get me one!
I need the pink blue line hat for my daughter. She’s only three months old but I’m really hoping she likes fishing.
Just saw that rig at the Denver fly show!
Ya! Thanks for swinging by!
What y’all are doing reminds me of me and my buddies only 25 years ago we didn’t have go pros. Camping, fishing and having a blast! See ya out there!
Damn you… now I have Craigslist notifications for “Isuzu Trooper”.
Haha! Not my fault they are so cool!
If you get in a spot where one tire is spinning and the others won’t you can click the e brake 2 notches up and go 4lo …. She’ll get you out and there!
Good call!
"I'm not really a station wagon kind of guy."
Might be my fav line in the vid!
Just putting this out in the universe, If y’all ever need a third wheel….I’ve tossed a fly line once or twice and I make a mean artisan grilled cheese 😮
Sent you a DM on insta of where to take this bad boy next, check it out. 10/10
I had a 91 Trooper in high school. If you ever decide to ditch yours, let me know so I can buy it! Fish On!
If you haven’t thought of it I would put a temperature gauge on it most - temperature gauges don’t show the correct temperature
9/10. Minus one for no Scottie.
A short, short bus!
Teeneh Tineh Bus
Awesome build, sweet Trooper and very cool vid! Care to share approximately how much you picked the Trooper for? I love these things but they used to be tough to find several years ago, I wonder if a lot of them have been sent to the junkyard by now.
$2k
..
Good editing
shorts eh
summertime
seems no one includes
a trailer
for overlanding
Sucks losing the drone
fun seeing how to jump
barb wire fence
...
What did you do to fix ideling issues
$500😳 That’s insane. I paid $800 for an 88 that required a rebuild
Who makes those loud ass lines?
Actually the Isuzu is travelling almost as fast as the speed of light that's why you're unable to see that far ahead!
Hahaha! Yeah, that must be it. ~60 MPH must be approx the speed of light.
Do tell what suspension you used
OME, watch the build video! ruclips.net/video/EHNiIYLpMYE/видео.html
I live in Chelsea Alabama, I don’t understand how you found a RUNNING trooper for $500
That shot where Steve hangs up in the tree behind him and the grasshopper flies past the lens is money. I’m not a videographer so I can’t tell you why… but it is.
😂 We agree
Budget equals more gas ...more time off work ..feels better than spending big bucks
When is hobo Steve’s red hat coming back in stock?
Unfortunately Hobo Steve's Pink/Red hat was a custom order. We only made 2 and he has 1.....
Maybe if we get enough people who want them we'll get them produced for everyone!
This video was electric
1st fish and third fish, fish hanging in the exact same places.
$500??? LIES!!
Dudes doing Dude things …
