      Rik, I'm a little confused, what do you mean by Instrument tracks in DP? Are those midi tracks assigned to the actual instruments which are in VE Pro?

    • @coolcitymusicUS
      @coolcitymusicUS  3 года назад

      @@TheAerovons Sorry about the confusion. Yes, they are MIDI tracks assigned to Virtual Instruments in VEPro. Hope that makes sense. If not, please let me know and I will try to explain better.

    Thanks, DP and VEPro you have set up seems to be making your life extremely tough - to use any sound, you need to first click in DP to arm the track, then remember where that is in VEPro and enable it, then go back. Why not just bypass VEPro and have all in DP? Of course DP is extremely behind compared to Cubase, (e.g., Trev Morris), as Cubase has a template all loaded (disabled. tracks), and simply one key loads each track when you feel like it. And when auditioning sounds to see what might fit, it takes seconds in Cubase, but minutes in DP. I have DP/Cubase and Ableton, and find my self using Ableton for my Sync/Library music and Cubase for any film music to picture stuff. I love DP but just cant find a quick way to set it up like Cubase.

      Hi Tristan, I agree. I am also a Cubase user and rendering a track in Cubase is a bit quicker. I grew up on DP (when it was Performer) and can get around on it much faster. Someday maybe I will bite the bullet and just use Cubase for film as well. I do use Cubase for most of my production music tracks.
      All the tracks in my DP template are enabled so all I have to do is enable the tracks in VEPro. I use a Metagrid touch pad to enable and color the instances that I want to use in VePro with one finger touch. Pretty fast! Thanks for the feedback!

    I'm really feeling like an underachiever for only having one computer and forcing it to do all my heavy lifting. Still might go the VEP route if it can make my system more stable.

    Hi Rik, Just came across your channel. Thanks for video. I am also a DP guy for over 30 years. Curious about why & how actually you have other software like Kontact open as stand alone and then link dp to it instead of doing it all inside DP? (that is what I do but understand it can take up resources and time to load etc.) So my question is how to link Kontact or ( I also use Opus from East west) - open as separate software and then link them to each other. Can't seem to find how to do that? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also looks like you have a great set up. And man have you done a lot of videos! (also subscribed)

      Hi Craig, Thanks for watching and subscribing! I taught at a university for 34 years and am now retired and working full-time as a composer. Made most of my videos for my students at the university. I do need to be better about making videos now on a regular basis. To hopefully answer your question. Kontakt, Opus, and all my other VIs reside in VEPRo and not in DP. This takes all the heavy lifting out of DP. My orchestral template is now over 1500 tracks, all on my MacPro with no additional computers. I'm using about 25 GB of RAM when the whole template is loaded. I did make a follow-up video. Linked below. Hope I answered your questions? If, not please let me know.
      Best, Rik.

      @@coolcitymusicUS Thanks for getting back to me. Now I realize you are using VEPRo to do this. I haven't used that before and now understand how you are doing this. Right now my demands are not as great as yours so I still doing everything inside Dp but good to know there is another option when the time comes. I have recently updated to a Mac Mini M1 with 16 gigs and so it's been working pretty good outside a ton of crashes from Dp which has cause some serious sound problems from loud crashing generating a ton of static when it happens. if you update please be careful and aware of this. Hopefully to be resolved soon. Since we both use dp professionally you might be interested on how show others to use it recording a song from start to finish on my channel. Check it out if interested. Thanks for getting back me - appreciate! ruclips.net/video/ao3X1eNh4EQ/видео.html
