    I have to say that I have been enjoying your videos. I like your detailed explanations. I have been drinking coffee for over 60 years (my parents let me drink coffee in elementary school...thanks Eastern European peasant heritage!); I "get" coffee but it is still nice to hear the thought that you put into your uploads. Currently I have had a Bunn for around 10 years; great machine. Prior to that I had a super cheap Mr. Coffee (I think I bought it at Big Lots). I had that machine for many, many years (don't remember exactly how many) and it also was very good. Its life ended when my wife took its carafe for a "crash course." Sometime before that we had a couple of Keurigs. Honestly, I thought that they never made very good coffee, and they would break in a year or two. I now only use a little single cup Keurig in my camper van, and only due to my personal issues with laziness.
    BTW, I just picked up a Moccamaster that I snatched at a super price. I was hopping for the heavens to open up with coffee deliciousness. However, it just tastes like coffee to me... I likely posses only limited discerning abilities (that heritage again). For now, my family will continue with the Bunn (wife and adult kids are comfortable using it), and I'll keep the Moccamaster in reserve for the day when the Bunn finally goes to the big coffee plantation in the sky. Yet, I worry that I'm missing out as all of the "experts" say that typical coffee makers are horrible and the Moccamaster and similar units produce nectar for the gods. Hopefully, my Moccamaster coffee making inabilities don't highlight another one of my personal failing :) Thanks for the review!

    Wife and I are looking for a new coffee pot and stumbled on this one on Amazon. Your review was the first one we found and sold us on it. Thanks for the video and hope you have a good one!

    I just got one last night because of your review. The first pot I made was a little weak and I had added cinnamon to the filter. I used two scoops for 3 cups. The water went up to the very edge of the filter. The second pot I used 3 scoops for the three cups and no cinnamon and the water was about 3/8 from the top. The temp out of the carafe is nice and hot. I'm so glad I bought it, Thanks for the review!

    I recently purchased this coffee maker, in part based on your review. Learned that 5 cups of water yields about 4 2/3 cups of coffee. Your video shows this at the 6:08 minute mark. I think the missing 1/3 cup (estimate) is absorbed by the coffee grounds. (Not complaining, just mentioning an observation.)

    My mini keurig died on me during Christmas when descaling. I ordered this coffee maker.
    The instructions were poor and I added the water over the coffee grounds. Coffee was not hot enough and felt I needed to exchange this coffee maker until I saw your video.
    Thanks for your precise and clear instructions! Now I see where to add the water. I’ll make another cup now.

    the extra filter disks CAN be used if you want to "McGuyver" the little indicator strip off of the mount they give you for them .. .. Just my two cents . I arrived here looking for a hack for the plunger , spring mechanism. With the "extra" charcoal filter forced atop the paper filter ( & of course its mount) the spring plunger stop isnt perfect anymore ... ..

    I saw this model at my local Target store for about $18. Interesting that the fliter basket hole is off center. I have the 4 cup version and the hole is center. Would you get this or the Walmart Mainstays 5 cup?

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  3 года назад +1

      Its hard to beat the walmart price. $10 bucks for a coffee maker. I would go with the walmart because of this. They both make about the same cup of coffee.

    I bought that same coffee maker on Amazon and it works very well but I have a problem, the water is leaking from behind through the cable hole, I have already checked it many times and I don't even understand why it continues doing that

    do you know how long you can leave the hotplate on after it's done brewing? the instructions say to turn the switch off as soon as it's done brewing and to not ever leave it on without water in the reservoir. I hate microwaved coffee, just wondering if you think I could reheat it by flipping the switch back on for a while or if doing so could damage the machine. thanks in advance!

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  2 года назад +1

      I get this question alot. there is really no way to turn the warming plate back on it will try to do another brew, yeah you have to turn it off or it will stay on and burn the coffee.

    Bought one from Walmart today--the Brew Now button version. It replaced my Keurig; the power in the K went off in less than a year! I know the thermostat popped and it was just a matter of taking a long pin and popping it back in. Taking the back off was too problematic. ALL the RUclips videos show you how to reset the thermostat, but NONE cannot/will not you show how to fully take the back off because it is too helter-skelter. That step is skipped altogether and you are basically told to, well just do it. THEN you are told how to reset--assuming you can get that far. I don't think there is a systematic way to DIY. I took out a few screws, but in the end I figure the K machine was taking screws out of me! Even K advises NOT to take the back for a simple operation like resetting the thermostat. You would think there would be an external reset button you could use, but I guess they figure you ought to buy a new one, or pay a service tech. Not me!
    It's back to the simple life. In the end the simple stuff like brewing a cup of coffee shouldn't have to include semi-annual rental payments to the manufacturer because you want to clean the thing! Just include an external reset switch for thermo problems! Imagine having to take out the kitchen sink just to reset the garbage disposal!
    Waiting in a customer service waiting room one day while my car was being serviced at the dealer I dropped in a few pods. Kool! Easy! Let me get one. I did. A Keurig. A few months year later, no power! I guess there is a premium for ease.
    Years ago I owned a Mr. Coffee. It lasted for years. So now it is back to the future with a very simple Mr. Coffee for only $24. I screwed up my first batch. I forgot how these things worked. I set the carafe under the brew basket with the lid UP. Oops! I figured with the lid down the brewer's aim could be off and would miss the small hole and coffee might spill everywhere. After brewing, only a few drops were in the carafe. When I looked into the basket the it was flooded! Then, after watching this video I saw that there was a plunger like thing on the basket and the carafe had to be set under the basket with the lid down to get any flow. Thanx! I'm probably the only one who made that mistake!
    After typing all this (if you're still reading) my coffee has gotten cold! Ouch! That's okay, I'm really not a coffee connoisseur, I drink it mainly from years of habit! Even a cheap machine that works will suit me. Thanx again for the video, the instructions that came with the machine say nothing. By the way I saw only the 8-12 cup paper filters from Melitta, I didn't want to go online for the 4 cupers. It seems to work fine. Cheers!

    I bought this to make iced coffee but it seems to taste to watery 😢

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  3 года назад +1

      This is not the best make for Iced coffee. I would use 1/2 the amount of water and the same amount of coffee grounds 5 tables spoons. the ice will melt and this might help.

    Sweet jesus...how much is it? If people are too ignorant to figure out how to use the dang thing, they should not be using it!
