It's because they made it so modern and so unrealistic, that people who didn't learn English or Scottish history would have no idea about it being historical.

Mary had a hard life overall and especially after her return to Scotland. I loved that her afterlife looked so beautiful and included Francis's love. She needed that kind of joy and peace!

Omg I just finished watching Reign.. what a series.. I can't believe it took me so long to watch it.. but I'm glad at least I did.. it was beautiful specially Mary and Francis.. I cried when he died.. and its amazing how Mary walked to her death like a Queen.. but she didn't even get to see her son one last time.. it was just so sad.. and this soundtrack is everything.. it reminds me of every single scene from Reign of Mary!! All the characters did their job brilliantly.. and my favourite was Catherine.. just loved her.. I wishthere was more of Mary and Francis.. their Chemistry was amazing! ❤💔
