Wheelchair user here, this is the video I didn’t know I needed! Love all of these ideas, and I find it funny that I’ve been drawn towards some of these techniques anyway, without really understanding how they help. Thank you!
I had a professor who also loved having absolutely gorgeous gloves. She looked like a Victorian lady dressed for a carriage. I bet sparkly bangles or rings can be fun too!
Wheelchair also, and yeah! I also prefer wide, loose pants or skirts. Most often skirts. That's just me. :)
Dont you think the first option with the long puff sleeves could get stuck in the wheel? Im not in a wheelchair but my best friend is, but her's is a big eletric one, so i was just wondering :)
@@HighConCannibal Hmm. I have never had anything get caught in my wheels like that. only under them when, like, something falls off the back (my sweater I keep around does this a lot). Still, it is a risk worth considering. However, she often uses those special bands to holds long sleeves up, so I, personally, would just do that if it was still a concern after some testing. 🙂
@@HighConCannibal Nope, would be fine because the wheels are so much further down on an electric wheelchair tbh don't even think that it would be a problem with an ordinary one.
As a wheelchair users I always just dress like I'm standing up, which is usually like a rainbow explosion 🎉🎉
Freaking rainbow explosion on wheels!!!! Wooot woot ❤
Rainbows are awesome!! 🌈 ❤❤❤🌈
Local disabled fella here! When I have fancy events to go to, I often wear a statement shoe as well as a statement top (for example, spiked loafers, plain black slacks, and a red silk top+bolo tie), and I find it brings an extra bit of confidence. I also absolutely adore a chunky or unusual earring, so all of this advice you're giving is amazing and super practical! Thank you for thinking of us disabled folks, it's a real treat to have someone I watch on RUclips specifically mention my community.
Ah yes, we do have the amazing benefit of not having to actually be able to walk on our shoes, so anything goes
@@christafranken9170LMAOO never thought of that! you can wear those uncomfy expensive shoes and not worry about ruining them or having to walk in them all night! 😆
I tease my girlfriend that she's a lucky fashion btch since she can wear the MOST insanely amazing, fantastic, moist elaborate shoes; and they are always perfect, and barely touch the ground 😆🤣😂🤣
Y'all are on the same wavelength, we find killer shoes and tops for events- way ahead of time haha; she always looks absolutely stunning 😍✨️
She would in a potato sack as well, but her sense of style is just incredible.❤️🔥 LMFAO fck I just adore that woman down to the air she breathes😆
I think people in wheelchairs are rocking fancy shoes, as shoes are more visible in a wheelchair than worn by a standing person - a bit lifted from the ground, and less covered by long pants or skirts. You will see cool shoes in a wheelchair you wouldn't notice at a walking/standing person. Your style sounds great!
LOVE the idea of puffy sleeves for privacy!😆 I'm gonna keep that one in the travel/fashion toolkit!😁
SAME that was such a cute detail lmao!!
Piracy privacy! 😂
One thing I also do in summer when I have to stay outdoor is taking my umbrella/parasol with me as I'm a ginger I would burn like a vampire wiyhout it, the bonus point is that I'm short (and an ambulatory wheelchair user) so nobody can approche me with my parasol open 👌😌
I love that you made a video with wheelchair users in mind! Often times disabled persons are kind of forgotten in the fashion industry.
And I’m afraid I can’t pick a favorite out of the outfits you showed us, because they all have lovely dramatic sleeves and/or sparkles, and I love both of those things! 😂
I'm sure you know this but have you seen the snazzy wheelchair wheel covers?? 😊
@@Tropicalpisces it’s been a while but yeah! I love that there are ways for folks to customize it and make themselves feel more comfortable using wheelchairs or whatever mobility aid they use. A coworker of mine who sadly was diagnosed with ALS got a bunch of stuff to decorate his wheelchair for when he’ll need to rely on it.
@@Tropicalpisces Wheelchair user here! The back of my chair is covered in iron-on patches and you can also get LED valve caps :)
My grandmother had MS and used a wheelchair. She bought a beautiful satin dress for my mum's wedding but had to revert to her Sunday best before leaving the house because she kept slipping right off her wheelchair!
I appreciate your inclusion of people like Grandma and me!
Poor Grandma! I would have offered her a belt or two to rig up as a seatbelt. No one puts Grandma in the corner!
Puff sleeves as a personal bubble boundary. I’m definitely filing that one away in my wardrobe considerations. 😂
Fun(ish?) Fact!
The huge puff sleeves of the 1830s ended up being used for the same purpose. There were light corded structures inside the sleeves - basically hoop skirts for your biceps - to help them keep their shape... and they also meant that creepy guys couldn't subtly cop a feel under the guise of putting a hand on your arm.
@@Rachel-fi4sc Most sleeve supports were pretty much donut-shaped down pillows around the biceps.
The crinoline-like sleeve supports were more for evening gowns with short sleeves.
My Mum’s in a wheelchair and wants to be elegant… this positive inclusivity is lovely, Andrea. Thank you! ❤
As a full-time manual wheelchair user, I agree with all your choices, but the last one is perfect. It has to be a top without long sleeves, which easily gets damaged or dirty. Not good. I'm always thinking about how to adapt your ideas to my way of moving around, and this video made me feel creative. Thanks, Andrea! I love all your videos.
I read the “Not good.” in Andrea’s voice 😂
@@stellagasaparro9912 same!!!
@@stellagasaparro9912Same! ❤
i was thinking similar with the long sleeves! i'm a diehard long sleeve lover because i love the flowy accent that they give to an outfit, but i know they're incredibly inconvenient for wheelchair use.
i think a jabot (or other flowy/lacy collars) gives outfits a similarly whimsical embellishment, without restricting mobility or getting in the way of any aids. hooray for accessible pirate fashion 😂
@@stellagasaparro9912 yup, me too😆
As a wheelchair use I've often wondered why more fashion channels don't think about how styles look when people are seated - Even non-wheelchair users spend ages sat down. Thanks for doing this 😘
As for the looks ... I can't choose they all look fabulous (or is that just you?!)
exactly! what if you are at a fancy dinner? are people really going to be admiring your skirt and shoes for the hours they could be under the table?
I love the puffy privacy barriers! They're elegant, richly detailed, and short enough that they shouldn't get caught in the sides or wheels of a wheelchair. I'm always impressed by your ability to bring great fashion looks while showing consideration for folks whose bodies & situations differ from yours. Well done!
Also the way she moved her arms in the black one. Handy to know that eating will be easy!
As someone with a lot of sensory issues (I basically wear pj pants and a t-shirt 24/7, no make-up, no jewelry, etc) a lot of the fashion world is inaccessible to me. Even so, I love these videos because you really do try to think of everything!
Plus you make it so easy to vicariously enjoy fashion through you! ❤
Yes! I had to check that I didn’t write this comment in my sleep, I feel the same 💜
That's a great idea for a video! How can we feel fabulous AND not irritated?
She's a cool girl. She makes me smile.
THANK YOU! no formal outfits are made for sitting, and very few casual clothing too! It’s a struggle and I thought no one was aware of it. ❤
🎉🎉🎉 excellent tips 😁 I (disabled she/her) use hats for the fancy, look at my face not my leg brace sparkles ✨. Bonus the right hat 🥳 adds a privacy factor when needed. Your tips are tops!! Thank you 😊
Except for the downside of worrying about if you're blocking someone's view if at a show or concert, they also work great for sunblock. 😄
@@cvvzdesignsyou're too sweet if your hat helps your life... Mmm ... Maybe that other person can move 😁👍😀
@@Tropicalpisces Pre-assigned seating via ticket purchases don't allow for moving if the show is sold out. :( Those situations are more "Hope there's room on my lap and my hair doesn't get messed up when I take off this hat."... which spoils the sun-block feature at outdoor performances. ;) It's similar in principal to the super tall guy who could see from the back but bought a ticket for right up front, or the person who stands up and blocks your view entirely. Le Sigh. 🥲
hats are a wonderful idea! thanks for including your prns btw :)
Thankyou for doing an inclusive video for disabled people! More like this would be amazing! I used to be a mua and I’ve considered doing a short video or 2 on how to feel a bit more glam when you don’t have the spoons to give! But I funnily enough haven’t had to spoons to make it 😂🙈
Just don't forget the idea and wait for the spoons.🙃
That is a great idea - hope the spoons find you soon
when you find the spoons link it here please? i'm sure many of us would love to see it.
lack of spoons is always the hardest part for me when it comes to looking extra fancy.
May spoons rain down upon us all, only very softly, and of course, easy to access!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Never enough spoons…
The bunny jumpscare was adorable
You don´t have an idea on how nurtured and loved I felt when I saw this video. People with dissabilities are invisible to society, not to say fashion world. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you for including disabled people and not making it a big thing. You very causally approached it with kindness which is all disabled people ask for. My mom is disabled and I know she will love this video because not only is it super considerate but it is also fabulous! Thank you ❤
I didn't think I was into puffy sleeves (I like them on others, it's just me) until you said "privacy barrier". Now I think I need to get into puffy sleeves!
I'm a wheelchair user and I've always found it hard to look pretty for fancy occasions this helps alot. I recently got some clip earrings since I don't want to pierce my ears and I'm going to try to find some nice magpie tops to go with my blue tie dye skirt. Thanx for the inspiration Andrea💖💖
Gorgeous! So good of you to think of folks with different mobility. Everyone has the right to shine!❤
Yay, I'm so excited that you included wheelchair users! You gave some really good pointers and this video is such a good example of how easy it can be to be inclusive. It's really fun seeing folks in the comments being excited, too. I don't have a lot of formal events to go to, but I'm often at events or meetings where I have to look "nice." Quality-ish jeans, a simple form-fitted shirt, a necklace, leather shoes, and an updo is my go-to. I've found that the leather shoes and updo are what makes it work. The best part is that the updo looks way harder than it is; it takes like five minutes and does't tire my arms out too much. Thanks again for making a fun and inclusive video!
Thank you for including wheelchair people! Means more than you know!
This is such a thoughtful video to make! You think of every scenario, Andrea!
Disabled fashion lover here, thank you so much for the inclusive video!! I am an ambulatory service dog handler and I'm mostly into alt and J fashion, but there's a lot of us that bounce ideas off each other for things like this!! My service boi has a lot of handmade bowties to match my outfits haha.
Love that your assistant has matching bowties to coordinate with your outfits!❤
@MushroomMayhem 😆💕 oh good lord I'm on so little sleep I'm sat here thinking "YES BTCH, BUTLER SERVICE!!!! Now that's what we need to start for wheelchair friends over here!!!!!"
You're taking about your dog 😭😭🤣😂😂😆😆😂🤣😂😆😂
Regardless, I'm so glad you and sweet puppers get to match!!!!! That's got to be adorable! 😆💞💞
Bahahahahaha the first reply even talks about said lovely pupper 😆
I need to read comments, and I NEED to go to bed hahaha
I love all your videos and the fun way you look at clothes and as a wheelchair user this was so delightful. I'm always trying to adapt fashion stuff I see to seated and getting to see you sit in the clothes was so great. Please do more of these (and love to your bunny).
I have a pixie cut, so no fancy hairstyles. Not super into glitter/rhinestones…
Statement earrings it is! Or cobalt blue top/dress to set off the red hair, or plum to make the green of my eyes pop.
Oooo statement earrings look gorgeous with a pixie cut!
You’re Ms. Jewel Tones!😍
I love this! Thank you so much. I was temporarily in a wheelchair during Christmas and New Years last year. I wish I had this at the time!
❤ right on. We need more look at my feels😊 not my wheels 🛞 vibes in fashion.
Mobility scooter user here, thank you for making this! You see me!
Omg that cat is adorable, I love how it's enjoying it's food
As a wheelchair user I would love more options in everyday videos! Love this one thank you❤❤
THANK you!! These are all great ideas! ...I think I like the puffy sleeves = extra personal space options the best. (Thumbs up for the "--But!" sequence, because that last super-gentle one was hilarious in the context of the others.)
Vielen Dank, dass du an diejenigen denkst, die Probleme mit dem Gehen haben. Ich habe eine Gehbehinderung und kann vielen Events nur im Sitzen folgen. Thank you Andrea! :)
Puff sleeves is my favorite for myself. Love that. they can be both princessy and piratey. Both both is good.
I adore that shiny violet top. Also the little "ow"after the butt slap. I never consciously thought about it, *but* it makes so much sense.
Andrea slaps her butt every time she says, "butt!" in all of her videos. heehee
@@therealJamieJoyyes
@@lesliemoiseauthor Sometimes I wonder if she has to do too many takes if she's a little sore!! hahaha
@@therealJamieJoy I didn't think of that. Bet you're right.
@@lesliemoiseauthor Poor Andrea! I hope this doesn't happen often.
Thanks for the tips and for including people like me! 😊
I love puff sleeves. The privacy barrier is needed a lot sometimes as I often like being an introvert at times.
The enjoyment noises he is making is so cute.
I actually love the outfit you started out with. The satin lavender top and matching earrings!❤
Had a really bad day n Andrea made me actually smile with her Buttt!! N sparkles ✨ the rabbit is so cuuuute 🥺
Statement necklaces are always one of my absolute fav bits of style ever!
This was lovely to see inclusivity, thank you and keep them coming 💛
Aweeee, love the privacy barrier suggestion. And also loving the inclusivity!❤
Omg I asked for one of these for the exact reason that I'm in a wheelchair
I am so glad you included fashion for those in a wheelchair. People with disabilities are often overlooked by the fashion industry. I frequently had to adapt my late husband's clothes to be roomier for him in his wheelchair.
Last option was my favorite...even though I ❤️❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ jewelry!
Andrea, thank you for this. You made my heart explode with your inclusivity.
Magpie options are FAB if you're a manual wheelchair user, you move more than most so that's more chances than most get to ✨️GLITTER!!✨️
Really happy to see content thinking about seated options, I would adore more of these!
Ambulatory wheelchair user. I'm in a wheelchair at conferences or museums or events like weddings, cause I can walk short bursts BETWEEN chairs (my house is set up with perches everywhere) but it destroys me standing around or doing long spates of it.
"on a good day i brush it." Is such mood though.
Your humour comes across as so sweet and humble. You make fashion approachable and always give great ideas that my plain Jane brain would never think of! Thank you for your content and inclusivity :)
Definitely the last one Privacy puff sleeves in black. Thanks for your content. My heart always smiles when I enjoy your videos
Hi Andrea! All the outfits were beautiful, but I think I prefer the first and last one, I really love puffy sleeves!
Im not disabled, but i love that your doing fashion for all peoples!! ❤❤❤❤ its really fascinating to me how fashion can work for different people. I would love to see more! ❤
My friend doesn't know I follow you and she sent me one of your vids saying that you reminded her of me 😂❤and let me tell you I felt soo flattered I love your style❤❤
when andrea is sitting down she looks so regal and elegant
I absolutely adore your sense of humor mixed with your face! You're amazing! Thank you for existing!
The pirate puff sleeves are stunning!!
If you don’t have any tops like that, find a large fancy shawl and arrange it over a solid matching/black tank top or camisole. A sparky brooch it pin would work with this, but a hidden safety pin works too.
ITDA BUNNAY!!! And I like the puffed sleeves best.
I ADORE your videos. You’ve taught me so much about fashion, and made me enjoy it way more, too. Thank you!
The first and last options are beautiful 🔥
Thank you so much for making this video!! I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, and it's so nice to feel included!
The last one. Suits you wonderfully.
So beautiful, I love all those looks. Well, I wouldn't wear the statement earrings, but that's because I don't wear earrings in general. And like you I'm kind of lazy with my hair, but everything else certainly is a good option for me.
Ah Andrea! Although I am not a wheelchair user at the moment, I have a physical disability. You have been one of my favourite (actually my favourite but dont tell the others) style youtubers for a while now and the fact that you made a video with inclusion in mind just makes my heart happy 🥰
That lilac bustier vest is amazing.
Okay, all beautiful. But the kitty ASMR at the end was the best. ✨💖✨
I love this. Simple steps to looking memorable. I'd personally go for the statement necklace or the puffed sleeves. Anyone can wear those and look chic.
Would you be able to possibly come up with an outfit for on the days where you're in such amount of pain that you don't want to move but you still need to be kind of presentable.
I'd love to see Andrea's answers on this, too. One of my secret weapons is long wrap-around skirts (they hide your pajama pants underneath, no need to change!), but I'm always looking for other options.
The hard "butt" followed by "ow" 😂😂😂
Loving your loving attention to those with disabilities. Thank you💖
0:44 😂😂😂😂 Your outfits are gorgeous as always! Looking forward to seeing more outfit inspiration!
I liked all of them, but I think I liked the last one best! I too am a fan of puffed sleeves.
A video on this topic + seriously good advices is a really nice and caring gesture,+ really cool statement pieces defintitely steal the show! you did a great job!
Thank you!! Sincerely, a wheelchair user ❤
As a wheelchair user, thank you for this video
Love love! The black puffy sleeves was my fav :)
I love your humor, realness, style, snuggly pets and more importantly , your beautifully inclusive personality !!! Go Andrea. My name also has "and" in it. 🎉
all the tops are stunning but the purple tank top you wear throughout is AMAZING
As much as I love the sparkles, I must say my favorite is the colorful top. It’s gorgeous on you
Love you Andrea!! You always give the *best* advice, and you consider things that others typically don’t, you’re very thoughtful!! 🥰
Also the bunny cameo was adorable and I love it!! ❤
It’s been such a long time since I seen any of your videos, I forgot how much you made me smile and forget the problems🤗🤗🤗
I just found your channel a week or two ago and I can’t stop watching your videos! They make me so happy 🥰 You are so cute and have the most endearing personality!
After being able to stop laughing (this was a good one!), surprisingly from a queen, the last outfit with the puffy sleeves was beautifully simple and chic. Classic.
And that they will at least try to keep people from invading your space is priceless!!!
People tend to bend over someone in a wheelchair, which is creepy and just too darned close!!
Loved these!
There are tons of events that are mostly sit down, so it's not really worth the effort to focus on shoes the silhouette for bottoms. It's hard to plan for when we're often thinking of how we look in a stand up mirror. And really nice that you included that there are a lot of people who are always or often seated at events whether or not it's a seated event.
The last one is my favorite! I like the elegant vampire look 😉
Thank you Andrea, you are the best❤! Thank you for thinking of all the different kinds of people out there❤❤❤ My daughter has to occasionally use the wheelchair (debilitating illness) and I love to help her dress up. I'll share your video with her❤
I personally love the beautiful shiny top she has on in the beginning of the video! But, if I must pick something else, I was certainly impressed with the option of the "privacy barrier." LOL 😃🤣
I lovvvve this for the people I work with in wheelchairs! Yes, bring the focus up top
Never was convinced this quick to subscribe to a channel here, you are amazing
Your videos always make me smile! You're simultaneously soo educational and so funny!!Love your work❤
Only watched about one minute of this, and your personality is just so radiant and your humour is just my type ❤ new subscriber here!
I loved your ideas. They all looked nice. - I am not much of a jewelry person but I do wear them on occasion. I used to wear earrings but I developed an infection and after it healed I had issues an hour after putting earrings in so I stopped. 😢
I like the sparkly top option... I remember what you said about magpies and everyone wanting to be your friend 😉😁
I’m exactly the same with my hair 😂 I wear it loose (and sometimes even brush it!) because I can’t be bothered with fancy styles
Not a wheelchair user, but I sit a lot and get uncomfortable a lot. I LOVE statement earrings and makeup and a go to is a cute jumpsuit so everything stays in place 😅💜
YOU’RE ‘ADORABLE’ ANDREA… That’s why I subscribed! ❤️
Hahahaha Andrea 😂 I love this last video haha “BUTT” ouch! 😂😂😂 I like them all 🥹
What a lovely idea for a video. Styled with brio as always! ❤
I love this video. My mamá is in a wheelchair, and I’m going to share this video with her to give her some ideas.
Haa! Ye gods, it's been an unreasonably long time since I last heard someone give a shoutout to the dark-but-oh-so-SPARKLY art of "Magpie Magick."
By the way, I sadly have no means by which to send you a trophy or trinket to commemorate the rather unspectacular event -but I still wanted to congratulate you for being the fastest channel I've ever subscribed to. Your videos are just the right amount of topically informative, concise, and fully informative (with just a *hint* of well-meaning cheek).
I also would like to add that it's rather refreshing to have a lovely hostess who, instead of fixating on their own perceived awesomeness, respects their viewer's time and doesn't stray away from making their point without due cause.
Your wardrobe seems like a natural evolution of a fairy who saw ballroom gowns for the first time a few weeks ago, and can't get them out of her mind.
