    The power move for me was realizing you could change the model by changing the dim on the drawing.. I had no idea that was possible after 12 years of using this software. THANKS!!

      Same here. And this is particularly useful for me.

    The more power moves you show us, the more I realize that I still don't know jack about Solidworks.
    I had no idea you could drive dimensions in drawings. And I am constantly jumping back and forth from drawing to part or assembly and back again to make adjustments.
    Talk about your time saving tips. Thanks TTT!

    Great Tip I have been preaching the Model Items for over 20 years. Also preaching the moving of dims vs deleting since they came out. Next 3DX World we need to meet and hang out.

    HI Toby can we have a session or series of sessions related to assigning annotations in Part/Assembly and then import directly to the drawings (such as a bit complex structures with different sections, assigning a single annotation to two views, etc.)

      Yes this is a great suggestion and although many of my tips are on Parts and Assemblies, I do have quite a stash of Drawings related tips and tricks - Just need to release them out into the wild!!

    This is great - similar to the method for reattaching dangling dimensions in a drawing. I think a video on how to reattach danglers, possibly also touching on the best ways to create non-auto dimensions in drawings (e.g. line to line Vs point to point?) and make subsequent edits to your parts (editing rather than deleting and remaking features where possible) to avoid them dangling in the first place.

    Hey toby - love the channel but I have a question about that bass behind you. Do you even know how to play? Or do you just have that in the background, as eye candy?

    Top down modeling means you get dimensions to points that are not even on the part. I hoped you had a trick for that :(

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby  Год назад

      Yeah - a lot of times in top down modeling I add DRIVEN dimensions to the part that's dependent on the assembly layout geometry. Maybe that will work for you?

    • @MAKER_GURU
      @MAKER_GURU Год назад

      @@TooTallToby Personally I don't like model dimensions in the first place so I don't use them anymore (engineers like to change drawings to make numbers look nicer...breaking assemblies), but my last company required their use. If something was missing...that was fine, just drop a dimension in the drawing. But if something was there, you were not allowed to delete or hide it. Thankfully you were allowed to put it in brackets at least.

    I use this if dimensions get dungled.
