What makes something important isn't what it really is at the lowest level, rather what makes something important is the impact that it has on every individual person. Take family, for example. Your family is important to you(I hope), but to me and the majority of people in the world, they are just random people. However, that doesn't mean that your family isn't or can't be special to you. You don't have the right to decide what can or can't be important to other people, and what is or is not important to you is not some standard by which everyone has to live.
