I never got it fixed but on Christmas Eve (less than a week ago), I got in and started 2009 F-150 and to my surprise, I was listening to Christmas music. It was right after a pretty cold freeze (for Houston anyway)... I don't know if that had anything to do with it but I was really happy for my early Christmas present. Almost immediately I thought, "How does anybody live without a radio?"
My 2010 Ford F150 did this for the first time in 12 years. For a few days I drove with no radio or cd player working. Over the weekend I was loading things in and out of my truck and at one point I left the area to feed the dogs and the open door drained the battery. Luckily I have a battery charger. I charged the battery and let it run for about 10 minutes and it reset everything. My radio and stations all intact as well as the cd working! I will use your easier method if this should happen again. Thank you for posting! Be well.🌞
Excellent advice. I was a little skeptical but you’ve made me a believer. Who would’ve thought discharging a capacitor like that would bring back my radio. 😁 🎶
Works! makes sense crossing the disconnected batt leads and by draining the Cap's. 2013 f 150 the clock display was flashing and had no radio functions.

Thanks for the tips about resetting the radio, and using the socket to ease the battery connectors back in place. I often use an oversized socket to push something on to where it is supposed to go, but it is easy to fail to apply techniques you know to procedures you haven't used them on before, i.e. replacing and snugging up the battery connectors. I hope this tip and the system reset tip are 2 great tips I'll never forget. Thanks for making this video.
My 13 has cut out mid drive 2 times this year and has a random "power off to save battery" message after about 10 seconds with the engine off. I replaced the battery (10 year old battery) and then these things started happening. I will give this a try and as a mechanic by trade I will say this will not hurt anything. If for some reason you don't feel comfortable touching the cables try turning the headlights on with the battery disconnected or just let it sit overnight with no battery connection.
I’m hoping y’all can help. I touched the cables together, I used a wire, I’ve pulled fuses. #9 controls my audio. I verified this worked with the fuse pulled. I’ve tried all this, the clock and radio are still doing the same exact thing. HELP! Don’t have the money for an expensive fix
What year is yours? Having similar problem but my radio is only showing compass direction and external temperature. If I hit the power button it flashes the time then goes away.

Check your owners manual for fuse sizes and locations. If you have lost yours, down-loadable owners manuals can be found on the Ford website or by using a Google search.

@@troysilva4 no I dunno what it is My truck has all kinds of electrical problems though so that could be part of it But I dunno no The radio works channels come in and it plays volume all that But the heads up display that tells u what channel And tells u the n s e w thing and out side temp Doesent not light up or come on any more It used too come and go but now Doesent at all

You can normally see a break or burn in a bad fuse once you pull it out. If not, you can do a continuity test across the fuse. You would need an electrical meter for this. You can also simply find another fuse in the fuse box that has the same rating and switch them temporarily to see if that solves your problem.
This helped so much I was months without a radio trying to figure it out and this was the only video that helped me! Thanks a lot man ! 🙏🏼
