The people who made the decision to choose Johnny Cash for a James Bond movie, had a brilliant idea. That would have made history, an American country recording artist in a British James Bond movie. Sincerely Bobbie from Silver Spring,Maryland.

According to the story I read in my 8th grade US History class, John Henry was a former slave that beat the Machine at laying railroad track. I did a stand up report about him because of this song, love Johnny Cash and the song, this song is why I choose this story to do my report on. That was before the internet, Google, RUclips, just me, my dad and the set of World Books we had at home to help us to with our reports. Johnny Cash also did a live show from a state prison in California, Peace and good will to all the hard workers that comment on this post, just a little lived history to add to the list of comments on a very old song and story. The Movie By DreamWorks about the horse that refused to lay track also talks about the real event in US History when the track crossed the divide of East/West. check it out, I tell the truth.

@Strange Wayfaring Stranger, if you research Johnny Cash you will discover that Johnny wrote Cry, Cry, Cry in 1955 - it was his first record for Sun Records (along with Hey Porter). Cry, Cry, Cry was NOT written by Ritchie Valens - he may have covered it in later years.
