Awesome - just used this to replace a screen. Very easy (easier than in this vid for mine!). Current price is around £35 from Ebay for a new screen, for those asking.
Great instructions! With a help of Dremel I was able to cut aluminum bezel around LCD and replace a backlight. I was unable to fit pieces back and used a foil tape. It's a shame so many good LCDs end up in the trash.
i have this type of laptop with a black spot in the center of the screen and want to replace it with screen that will be easy to get and install , enjoyed your video learned a lot from it.
Great video, very helpful. I mostly used it for the tear down, because (and I'd wager that this applies to many of the screens that have ended up getting replaced) it turned out that the issue I was having with my g60 was actually a break in the LVDS cable behind the screen. The break occurred just beneath the hinge, because for some reason these laptops (due to a terrible design flaw I would imagine) have the LVDS cable loop underneath the hinge. When my screen initially began to flicker, I assumed the panel was dying and would need to be swapped out, and then eventually I got nothing upon turning on the computer, except a solid white screen. So for me, a $7 replacement cable, purchased on Amazon, and about a half hour for tear down and reassembly, had me back up and running. I'm sure the LED is a nice upgrade though, and it's something I may do eventually, but I just wanted to let viewers know... Before swapping out your screen, consider replacing the cable to it, it could save $$
I tested the old cable by removing the keyboard and top panel, and then reconnecting the power button but holding that panel out of the way, plugging in and turning on. Not necessarily the "safest" idea, but if you're careful, it shouldn't be a big deal. Then just moved the screen forwards and backwards, almost all the way open, to almost all the way closed. As soon as I saw a little arcing (sparks) in the LVDS cable, I knew the screen could probably be salvaged. Thanks again for the video, it definitely did help :)
for anyone wondering, you can use the 15.6 inch g60 screen as i had one froom my 519wm and i used it in a 230us. just swap in the 15.6 inch bezel and make a hole for the camera. its that easy
thank you for your video demo. I think I actually have a problem with the frame around the screen. Do you have instructions on replacing the frame which appears to be broken about 1" above the right corner. The lid doesn't open correctly and because the bezzle hangs loose on the right side, the lid sort of flops around. Do you have a replacement lid or frame? Thanks.
I know you did this a long time ago but I need an answer to a question. I have a G60-445DX and everything says 16 inch screen but when I measure mine it is 17 inches diagonal. Is this what they call a 16 inch? That seems odd....
I really liked your video. My problem however is I have an old screen from a laptop and am swapping a cracked screen from one laptop to one that is not. How do you replace the screen with an identical one?
I have the same laptop. The screen makes a fizzling out sound and turns black, but if I shine a light up to the screen, it's still working but just very dark. Do I need a new screen or a flex cable? Thanks.
question, how can I test if this is a problem with the GPU video chip or the actual LCD? right now there is only a black screen but I connected an external monitor and there was nothing displayed on it. Can this be just the LCD monitor or is it more likely the GPU video chip?
AWESOME video, gotterdun in 25 minutes!!! Should've done it weeks ago. Thanks guys!!
Thank you, I was able to replace my laptop screen following your instructions, very helpful video

awesome procedure,i have an issue with my screen as well, low dim lights i was wondering if its the ccfl issue or inverter prob any suggestion
Thank you, you really help me a lot am working in one.
@ucfsub you have to remove the plastic lid from the main assembly to replace the cable.
Hi, thanks for the video, very useful. I have a question, that's the only model that works (HSD160PHW1) or others 16'' will work? thanks

Worked great! Thanks soooo much!
Great video! I did this and it worked!

The fragile connecter just crumbled went I tried to disconnect from the inverter. Is that an inexpensive part? I just sub.

Steve H. It's even easier. Just take the old screen out and replace just the screen and not the circuit.
Hi, what if i have a working CCFL from a Compaq CQ56 and wanna replace my G60's dead CCFL with it, will it work?
Do you know what the name of the fragile is and where can I find it ?

thanks a bunch
Yes, it's the same procedure.
